    Hi Abbers!!

It's been a while, but happy to report that I've finally made it through the "starting-over" aches and pains. Doing agressive gym-bike / spinning and weights four times a week. I'm also back into the major sport / hobby of off-road motorcyling.

Deter, thanks for your mention of the paleolithic diet last month. It's basic thesis is that our bodys are not equipped to deal with the common modern diet. The paloe diet calls for simple fruits, nuts, vegetables and meats that were available to the typical hunter-gatherer of 10,000 BC. For a hoot, check this out: Caveman Power - fit, healthy, energetic, mentally sharp, emotionally potent and wonderfully creative. He likes pull-ups too!

I posted on the April thread today - Doh!

Am so enjoying my exercise, however am finding running on the treadmill soooo boring. Too hot to run outside, any ideas?

Hello! I've kept up with my abbercizing but not my reporting of it! I will do better this month. :b&d:

I just finished out a 5 workout week yesterday. For the "outdoor" season I am going to focus on working out Monday through Friday with NO misses so I can take both Saturday and Sunday off from Curves. I want to be outdoors on every nice weekend day doing something ether yard work or gardening or fun. We'll see how this plan progresses.

My goal weight range is 145 - 150 and even with the workouts I slid upwards and was at 151 today. That's better than 153 last Monday. This doesn't sound like much, but I KNOW how quickly a pound or three can turn into 5, then 7, then 10, etc. I had a couple of sugar dives which of course also involve gluten and I just CANNOT do that and comfortably maintain my weight or my health.

Tom, I've been a low carber all along and am drifting more towards the Paleo model (I think - from what little I know about it). I am trying to get in more whole, raw foods (fruits, veggies & nuts) but I'm not giving up meat as many of the "whole foods" enthusiasts tend to do. At least not at this stage!! I do make sure that all meats are free of hormones and anti-biotics and mainly eat wild caught salmon in the fish department. Your workout program sounds awesome!

Hello also starting and Sweaty B. Sweaty, I was thinking the same as starting - what about swimming? My college room mate from almost 30 years ago has maintained her slender figure by swimming all these years! Of course she is not an alkie which made that easier LOL!

Here's to Endorphin Power in May, and bikinis in June!

It's a funny thing - I can stay on the cross trainer for an hour at a good intensity - but I just want to be able to run! I feel quite heavy when I'm running and there's the 'bounce factor' to contend with, but I still just want to do it.

I swim breastroke quite well but suck at freestyle so it seems that speed is not my forte

I did my first non-beginners yoga class today - Hatha. I even had the class 'farter' in front of me and I didn't collapse in fits of laughter....

          Happy Abbercizing

I was a very bad caveman today. ate an icecream sunday and then worked out a half hour later. oh gawd! I've never sweat so profusely in my life. After sparring we do a nice stretching routine during which the guys were noticing I was about to float away in a pool of my own perspiration. eeeeew!
so glad I worked out at least.

keep up the great work everyone!

i didn't run, i walked out in the stix and my beagles caught the scent of some bunnies, so we had fun chasing them for about 3 miles and walked about 2 more for good measure.

Yoga class again - no farter, although I did nearly pee my pants laughing trying to get myself into 'sideways boat' - she had to push me into position......

As I understand it, the Paleo diet is based on the hunter-gatherer lifestyle, which is foraging / grazing on fruit, nuts and raw vegetables during the daily hunt and then feasting on the rewards of the hunt which would be lean meat, poultry or fish. Of course, the hunt includes hours of walking, running and climbing!

Tom, we could start a Paleo GYM where we have the participants simulate fighting dinosaurs and running up the sides of volcanos. Then after the 'hunt' we all gather round the campfire and eat with our hands. it would be a hoot!

Yoga class - over forties class so nice and relaxing. Ran 22 minutes IN A ROW tonight. Woo hoo!
I sat and debated with myself for quite a while, but am so pleased I got off my ass and onto the treadmill.

First time on this thread! It sounds like a good idea!
I currently do 1 hour on an elliptical (sp) machine at least 4 times per week, right after work. Plus it is getting back to biking seaason again, so I am looking forward to getting out on my bike. I have as of this Am 11 pounds to go to my first "goal" if you will.
Mrs BHOg is on Weight Watchers, so I am benefitting from that diet program as well. Since Jan 1, I have managed to loose 17 pounds of ugly old german belly.
