    AF Daily Friday 15 May

    HG,

Just so you know and understand. My hubby could go be with a bunch of drinkers and carousers and still not want to join in.

It is all in the mindset.

    Love,
    Cindi

      Hi again!

TG it sounds like you are on the "home stretch" with your school work. Good for you! Enjoy yourself "sanely" this weekend! Would love to hear more about whatever Eurovision is if you have time, or a link!

Cindi, I will be thinking of you and your family for a safe and healthy delivery! Sounds like you are back on the road again??? ughhh...

HG, in situations like the one you describe, one of the most important elements of my "plan" is always an exit strategy. Do you have a way you can LEAVE and just go home (or somewhere that is an AF place) if you find yourself wanting badly to drink? I think we all find that we have different levels of tolerance for different types of situations where AL is available. You will only know this stuff if you try it out. But you have a goal, and it's not worth giving up for a night in a bar, no matter how good the music is! (IMO of course) I would just make sure I had a way to leave if I wanted to.

      TGIAFF!

HG, I attend a monthly meeting held at a brew pub and it first worried me to go and be AF. It was actually easy as I was engaged in conversation and ordered some interesting food and took my time eating. Take some L-glut and Kudzu before going.

Don't know if you can use a statement like "my stomach has been off today, I'm afraid any AL will give me heartburn."

Rustop - 3 cheers for your daughter, she sounds awesome. I don't have kids either so I can't offer any good advice on the AL talk, but it's always worth a try.

DG -- yes agility is a game and one can't forget it. I still gave him 1-2 chicken livers after each run whether is went well or not. He only gets chicken livers at a trial and he caught on to that.

I want to thank you, DG, for the flogging. It was just the right kick in the rear I needed! I guess I have underestimated my opponent. I started here in January and am still trying to figure out how to be af. I am not throwing in the towel though.

Hope you all enjoy a fab af friday!

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

OOh, thanks guys, you are the best. I just checked in here before leaving and I had completely forgotten about the L-Glut and Kudzu!! Thanks, and a leaving plan, and food and taking my time, all great stuff. I will report back. You guys blow my mind.

Great thread today! Rust you must be so proud of your girl! I think that has to be one of the real reasons we have kids - to feel that pride in our hearts. My boys bring up drinking once in awhile. The other day the oldest one says he kind of misses me drinking. I guess I can understand why but I wish they didn't think it was so great. Today out of the blue my youngest son asked me what the drunkest dad has been? I said he just gets more obnoxious.
Last night a good friend of ours came out to drink beer. I visited with him for awhile but made an excuse to go in early and went to bed. Hubby came in about 1 am. I bet I felt a ton better than them today but I also bet hubby is working on another 12 pack by now.
I think I got sober in time to help my sons enjoy life more whether they realize it or not. Right now we are at baseball practice on a Friday night. Last year I filled a go cup with beer and brought it with. How stupid is that?!
I really can appreciate the positive reinforcement about being af. Once in awhile the thought occurs to me that I might want to drink again but I'm afraid it would be for all the wrong reasons and I know I would regret it. I have my class reunion coming up and it will be difficult to be comfortable there sober.
Ok I'm tired of typing on this phone. Have a great weekend all!
