July Abbercisers - We're so HOT you can't touch dat!

Hello everyone! I'm still abbercizing away more frequently than I post. I've settled into a 5 day a week routine at the new gym. I'm lovin' it! There is a lady I see there on the Personal Torturer days who is such an inspiration. She is a totally HOT 55 year old woman who has been actively weight training for years. You would NEVER guess her to be in her 50's and she also has the most engaging smile you could imagine. She has started to encourage me when she sees me she is giving me hope that there really is a happy, vibrant and fit life ahead for many more years to come.

So with that, :b&d::sofa::b&d: WHERE ARE ALL YOU HOTTIES???????

    This week so far:

Monday: Rest. (I know how to start the week off RIGHT!! )
    Tuesday: Lower Body & Cardio
    Today: Cardio
Thursday Plan: Upper Body & Cardio
    Friday Plan: Rest
Saturday Plan: Lower Body & Cardio
Sunday Plan: Upper Body & Cardio

I so badly want to get this damn cellulite off my inner thigh all the way to my inner knees area. I will not give up! :b&d:

And there you have it. Who's in for July??

DG, how come all the hot women are at YOUR gym and not at MY gym. Doesn't seem fair! :H :H

I'll be cycling to work in the *heatwave* today. :rays::rays:

Marshy, I am sorry to hear there are no Hot Babes besides YOU at your gym. That DOES seem VERY unfair. Maybe I'll ask around and see if anyone is planning a vacation in London any time soon. If I find any hotties headed your way I shall let you know. I love that diving smilie!

SB congratulations on reaching a new milestone with that freestyle!!

Today was upper body with PT. She had me over in the Big Boy free weight section for much of the workout. That felt really cool. It might not actually BE cool, but it FELT cool none the less. Marshy my PT is hot and she is from England. I guess that means we stole one. That makes things even more unfair.

I'm loving upper body days. Lower body, not quite so much. Maybe I'll come 'round with more time.

        :b&d: everyone!

nice job ABercizers! DG, you have a great schedule set up, woooooo!

I managed to injure myself in a most odd and painful fashion.... ergo:

yesterday I took a private kickboxing lesson and the pace is much faster than in a big class. the problem is we were on rubber mats in the ring which I'm not used to (they are in the middle of changing out all the mats) and I now have blisters underneath my callouses on my feet!!!! it's sooooo freaking painful to walk! so I've been sitting here typing with my feet resting on a block of ice. it's helping.

Too hot to cycle home last night. Honest! So I left my bike at work. I'll be cycling home tonight though. I don't leave until about 10.30pm on Fridays so it'll be cool enough by then. No excuses (unless it rains...)

DG - there are quite a few hot men at my gym. We need to organise some sort of cultural exchange programme

Sweaty B - good on you! When I resumed swimming after my drinking career last year, it was hard work. It does take a while to get used to. Is your pool 25m or 50m?

Come on, now, Det. We know you love a bit of injury. It just wouldn't be a workout without pain, would it?

Hello everone, got room for another?
Doggygirl I have been here a while now and only last night got around to reading your story. It took me an hour but boy was it worth it. WOW.
I would be delighted to join in here if that is ok. I did absolutley zilch exercise wise for the last 10 yrs apart from walking the dogs, (am 46 now) but decided to get fit about 8 weeks ago when I joined up here.
Boy was that a good decision, exercise has been a huge part of my recovery.
I started out with a swim, managing 30 lengths of 25mtr pool but had jelly legs after and had to lie down when I got home
Gradually built it up and now can manage 3 times that, all be it at a slow pace. Last week I joined the gym and went for an assesment, turned out I wasnt a total wreck fitness wise.
Anyway have done 2 sessions of my program which take an hour and a half and am swiming for approx an hour too. Feeling great and I can see a big improvement. Anyway I dont understand all the terminology re cardio, abs etc but want to learn. So at the moment is is gym x2 swimming x5 a week and I hope I can keep it up. Thanks for listening.
Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

Hello all you Motivated Ones -

For me, its cycling right now - riding about 80-100 miles a week - 4-5 times. I think I need to get in some weights, and weight bearing, like walking (for the bones, don't ya know). Perhaps, if I check in here, I will be motivated to get that in.

Planning a 30 mile Women ride tomorrow early AM - will be my longest to date.

By the way, am loving the Daily Plate at livestrong.com - track food and exercise...

Det, OUCH!!! Walking on the hot coals never did prove anything!

                Carry on!

Hello HOTTIES!! Happy Friday!! :b&d::sofa: If you are behind your sofa come out now.

Welcome KTAB!! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Swimming is one of those things I never really could get into so I stand in admiration of all members of the Abbercizin' Hottie Swim Team who have no fear of drowning (and that's in the shallow end). Abs = 1) Abdominal Torture & 2) well, you know the part about no AL. Hope you will hang around with us! I too found exercise to be a wonderful asset in the early days of quitting AL. It's hard to desire poison when you are panting and sweating after a good workout. So that takes care of any cravings for at least part of the day LOL!

Marshy, I am definitely on board with your proposed Cultural Exchange Program. Please send me the one that looks like Johnny Depp. Which one would you like????

Deter you take that saying "no pain no gain" way way too literally sometimes.

HG you are rackin' up some big miles on that bike!! Yes, for YOUNG women in our age group weight bearing exercise is supposedly very very good. Have fun on the Women ride! Is this a special event or a group you sometimes ride with?

I changed a few things around from my plan as I am working with Personal Torturer(tm) on Monday / Wednesday next week instead of Tuesday / Thursday. At least I hope I can get back from the hospital in time on Wednesday (Dad's surgery day) to keep a 5PM appointment. Since Monday is lower body, I HAVE to have a rest day on Sunday or I will be crawling out of the gym on Monday morning! So...here are the changes since yesterday..

Thursday Plan: Upper Body & Cardio (Actual - Upper Body but no cardio 20 min at the end)
Friday Plan: Rest - (Actual - Lower Body, Abs, Cardio)
Saturday Plan: Lower Body & Cardio (New plan - Upper Body sans abs, Cardio)
Sunday Plan: Upper Body & Cardio (New plan - rest)

That keeps me on track with the activity, just a little different order than usual. I'm going to HATE missing at least 10 days after surgery. I hope it's not any longer than that!!!

:b&d: off to go visit Dad now..

                    Hi All

DG - thanks for keeping us going!

Marshy - can you believe its too hot to cycle in the uk? - I think the Condo pool is 50m, its a curvy one!

Det - you take care of those blisters - ouch! The place where I do Yoga has just opened a Muay Thai Gym, and I'm quite tempted to try...

                    KTAB - welcome!

Hidden - 30 miles - fantastic! Do you use a road bike?

I was moaning to my Dad yesterday about all the fit, toned, "Yummy Mummies'' that we have here in Singapore. I was bitching that they can stay like that because they have a maid and nothing to do all day but go to the gym and play tennis every day. My Dad turned to me and said "Betty there is absolutely nothing to stop you going to the gym every day''.

                    HE IS SO RIGHT!

From a practical point of view I could fit in at least 2 hours every day - I just have to THINK myself into it. I'm thinking, I'm thinking..........

                    Watch this space!

                      I'm in.. I'm in!!

I have not worked out too much over the past 6 weeks! We have had the wettest June on record - almost 6 inches! Before that I was hiking every other day and going to the gym on the alternate days with my trainer. We stopped training June 1st, like every year, so I wanted to just hike. Then the rain came.. whaaa! The rain subsided so I started to ride my bike. I got into it for a few days and got in a bicycle accident and cracked a rib.. double-whaaa!

OK.. so whining over. I am feeling better and am ready to get back on the mountain! I am going to get started. I am also going to get back to the gym without my trainer two days a week.

                      Here's my plan

                      Monday - Rest (thanks, DG!)
Tuesday - Gym (upper body, core and cardio)
                      Wednesday - Hike (1 1/2 hours)
Thursday - Gym (upper body, core and cardio)
                      Friday - Hike (1 1/2 hours)
                      Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Big Hike (2 1/2 hours) Hike up ski mountain and take the lift down - so fun!

                      Okie dokie...

I'm excited to get rocking again!

Wow Bets! Your Dad is :b&d:!!!! I'm sure that type of truthfullness sometimes feels good and sometimes not. Mean time, I KNOW you are going to become the Yummiest Mummy on the block. Getting in on Marshys' Global Hottie Exchange Program should be motivation enough, eh??

Welcome back MM! :b&d::sofa::b&d: You are past that initial part where just not drinking is all you have to do. Now comes the HARD work!

I changed things up once again and did 40 minutes of HARD cardio today. I saved upper body for tomorrow. I will do some light cardio tomorrow but nothing with too much of an incline or resistance so I can save my legs for lower body with PersonalTorturer(tm) on Monday. I just can't stand the idea of taking days off with the surgery coming up next week and having to take 10 days off. :upset: Does that make me a gym rat? I wanna be a gym rat.

                        Anyway....happy abbercizing one and all.

                            Hi all,

I think I'll claim Saturdays for my day of rest. I mean I've been working, but in a slumped-at-desk fashion that probably doesn't burn many calories. Looking forward to getting back to the pool tomorrow.

HG - 32 miles before noon? Wow! I went on a 30-odd mile ride with my cycling group last Sunday and it took us about five hours (including long lunch, wrong turns down country lanes, puzzling over the map, stopping for photos etc.) Exhausting :H

KTAB - exercise has been very important for my recovery too, but I still
don't know all the terminology after almost a year at the gym!

Sweaty B - sooo annoying when the parents are right, isn't it?:H

DG - I'm fresh out of Johnny Depps. Can offer you an out-of-shape Lou Ferrigno with a dodgy goatee. Ready and waiting to be crated up. No?

EEEK!! NO!!!! How about a Keanu Reeves look alike. That exotic thing is cool. Any of those at your gym??

Hi all. I ended up taking the day off yesterday. I was supposed to do upper body. No excuse other than sheer laziness and a bad choice!

Today I did lower body with Personal Torturer(tm) (I LOVE that girl! Marshy she is from UK!) I also did 15 minutes on ARC machine for warm up and another 15 after my lower body work. So my legs aught to be feeling this tomorrow. I will be doing upper body tomorrow before I take Dad to the hospital. I hope to get in cardio on Wednesday as that will be my last workout for at least 10 days. ACCKKKK!! I never thought I would imagine missing exercise. What on earth has happened to me??? Aliens have invaded my body or something. This is NOT the ME I have spent my adult life being.

                              :b&d::sofa::b&d: to all!
