    good job you health freaks you

    all weekend I've been on the espresso and protein powder diet (no kidding). I've noticeably lost some body fat just since Thursday!

    off to the gym......

        I went to the gym frightfully early today and squished in 30 min of cardio. I pushed hard and I'm glad I didn't blow it off even though it's a nutty day ahead. I'm noticing that I can push harder and harder and my heart rate stays reasonable. I assume that means my heart is getting stronger? If so, COOL.

        I am determined to go very early again tomorrow and do upper body and some ab work and at least some cardio as my final workout before my surgery. Gotta figure that out for sure once I know more about the schedule with Dad for tomorrow. Exercise and sobriety are keeping me sane right now. (well, I guess I should say "sane in a relative sense" )

        Happy abbercising to one and all.

          DG- You are WONDER WOMAN!! I want to ride in your invisible plane! Good luck with your surgery and PLEASE don't worry about taking time off to heal. You will be back at it in no time! We will be here to PUMP YOU UP, when you are ready.

          Well, I just got that "you better get your butt tight quick" call. My VSF (very special friend) from Seattle is coming to visit on the 31st. I have not had him visit the home town yet. We usually meet in ultra-fabulous destinations for fun. I can't really pump up my workout, but I can get back on the healthy eating horse. I have been eating like CRAP over the past two weeks. I have been giving myself a "hall-pass" because of quitting AL. My VSF doesn't drink, and I am very excited to hang around him AL-FREE!

            I managed a long walk with the dogs this morning - they need it they're getting fat! Then debated gym/yoga. I chose Yoga - good lord what a tough class! Lots of new balancing poses, no aircon and no ceiling fans....may as well have been Bikram! Am so glad I got off my ass though - here's to the gym tomorrow.

            MM - fantastic incentive, I'd LOVE a VSF......

              Hi everyone thanks for the welcome.
              Det I take it the soles of your feet are healing ok, that sounded v painful. Good coffee is just best.
              DG good luck with the surgery.
              Hiddengoal 35 miles, boy I would need my motorbike to do that.
              Betty I have the same problem with my swimming so I just do the breaststroke for 90% of the time.
              Marshy cycling in the heat must be a killer, are you back swimming?

              Well I am a bit clearer with a plan since I last posted so here was my last 7 days and I would like to stick roughly to this schedule;
              Wed: 60 lengths of 25mtr pool.
              Thur: 3 km walk with dogs
              Fri: 30 lengths pool, 45 mins cardio, 45 mins ressistance training?
              Sat: day of doing chores with a bit of gardening weather permiting.
              Sun: day of rest.
              Mon: 45 lengths pool, 45 mins cardio, 45 mins ressistance.
              Today: 90 lengths (a bit much to be honest).
              Add in a few shorter walks with the dogs on the beach and in the forrest and that is about it.

              So the plan is: 3 times a week to swim 60 lengths and twice a week gym 1.5hrs and swim 30 lengths. I really dont want to overdo it early on and end up giving up on it. So any comments, ideas, criticisms would be more than welcome because 8 weeks ago this was all alien to me.

                yes DG, my feet are much better thanks. I wore socks at last nights workout. I'm sure I looked really macho sparring in the cage wearing my socks oh well, I'm no fashion dude, that's for sure. but I always go freshly showered!

                weighed myself at the gym and I've lost almost 6 lbs in 5 days on the espresso and protein powder diet! wooooo! ok, I'm eating real food again, don't worry.

                  KTAB, thats a fantastic schedule you've got mapped out. I must ask: isn't it cold most of the year to swim in Ireland? it's indoor pool then I'm assuming?

                    KTAB, great workout swimming...not so easy to swim, I think. Unless, you have grown up in a pool!

                    Ok, rode 20 miles last night - so thats 87 miles in 4 days! Whoo! So, my goal will now be 100 miles a week - do-able, but pushing me, for sure. That is what I need to get the body reshaped. Have not lost a pound, so I figure I am building some muscle

                    I will walk today, as I need to be doing some weight-bearing bone stuff...and some weights would be good. Geez - this is a full time job!

                      Evening abbercizers!

                      I felt the after effects of yesterdays Yoga class today - sore sore quads and abs lol! I went to Yoga again tonight, different Teacher, who has just announced she's 6.5 months pregnant - she just looks like she had a big dinner.

                      Walked the doggies again, they're getting faster

                      Det - I peeked in on the Muay Thai session tonight - it'll be a while before I pluck up the courage to join in!

                        Hi guys thanks for the replies, I am still finding my feet exercise wise, so any input is helpful. I am not a very strong swimmer and now I know 90 lengths was too much. I was exhausted last night.

                        Det I smiled when I read your comment, yes it is a 25 metre indoor heated pool, the sea is bloody freezing 360 days a year. Mind you I live near the sea and there are one or two brave/lunatic souls (delete as applicable) who swim all year round. Hee hee some of them run in and run out twice as fast mind you.

                        Hi HiddenG, I would say cycling is great when you get into it, what sort of roads are you riding?

                        Betty is yoga hard going? Somehow I always thought of it as meditation with stretching into odd poses, no disrespect intended.

                                well this totally sucks. I broke my damn ankle at jiu jitsu tonight. no seminar this weekend for me. in fact I'm probably on crutches for some time now. will be off to get Xray in the morn. ugh!!!!!!!!!
