July Abbercisers - We're so HOT you can't touch dat!

    Hello all!

Deter I was wondering how you were doing...small steps indeed. Literally. (unless you keep your coffee maker on the night stand!) It would totally suck to be you right now if I do say so myself. Referring only to the ankle of course!

Marshy I applaud you for only needing one escape oops I mean walk while you were there! I take it you are home now? Welcome back!!!! Congrats on surviving another one!!!

LilBit, is there video of that Flying Walinda??? Thanks for the good wishes.

HG - waiting for the full report! Bet you are having fun. And sweating. Lots of sweating.

I've had about enough of this being stuck at home. Seems the woozy dizzy stuff is behind me now and you'd have to be the biggest wimp on the planet to take a prescription pain pill for this. So I'm off to the store to get some canning stuff. Tomorrow I'm going to the gym for some cardio for sure. I would go today except Mr. Doggy is off pretty far from home on a treasure hunt and I'm at least smart enough not to go do cardio without him anywhere near for a rescue if needed.

Deter, I really feel for you man. That would get old SO fast. How long are you in the Dorkboot? :upset:

Hi folks, being physically unable to do anything much must be tougher for you guys than the couch potatoes. Just takes time I suppose but Det the coffee is a must.
Hidden, fair play on the sponsored cycle, how did you get on?
Betty, I find freestyle difficult from the point of cordinating my breathing, but it is easier if I go slow. Basically I just stick to the breast stroke.
Marshy, I dont think there is any harm in having a few days taking it easy. I think I would only get discouraged if I over did it. On that note 90 lengths wont be attempted for a while.
Hi Lilbit, hows it going for you?

I have been sticking to my plan this weeek but with the days moved around a bit.
One question I have is, how tired should I be after say doing my 45 min cardio 45 min resistance and 30 lengths swim? Because I am pretty worn out, I wonder if I might trying too much to soon.

KTAB - are you doing that all in day??? I'm no expert but no wonder you're knackered . What are you looking for from yout exercise - distraction, shaping up or the endorphins? I think its important to have something that's sustainable long term.

I did a Yoga class yesterday, and have eaten really well since my Dad went back. I'm really hoping to shift some body fat. I had a physical and everything else is within the 'healthy' range apart from my Body Fat Percentage *whispers* 40%!

I'd be so please to consistently drop even 1lb a week. I need to add some more cardio this week, maybe I'll work on getting up to 5 lengths of freestyle per session...

Hiddengoal - looking forward to a Duathlon report!

DG - I'm glad you're getting back into the swing of things.

Deter - are your arms and shoulders getting a good workout?

Marshy - I used exercise as an 'escape' when I visited with family this time, it helps!

Have a Happy Healthy Monday all

Hi guys, Betty thanks for your reply. I do that schedule twice a week plus swim for an hour+ x3 times. Oh and walk the dogs. I just want to get fit and shape up, I dont want to over do it. I agree about doing something that is sustainable but I am hoping I can stick close to this level. I imagine as I get fitter that will become easier. I moght try some form of yoga at some time in the future.

Hey KTAB - if you can keep that level going that's great!

I did twenty lengths today, FIVE of them freestyle. Unfortunately my new cozzie doesn't contain my bosoms very well, I frightened a lot of locals......

Well, I didn't make it to the gym yesterday (best laid plans and all that) but I did get out on my bike. This is the 2012 Olympic stadium taking shape:

And other Olympic work taking place along the canal - the canal on the left is green from algae because it's been hot (DG my bike is in shadow under the tree! That DG is a stickler for having the bike in the picture:H):

One day I'll learn how to take better pix, but today I really AM off to the gym.

I still remember wearing my sister's hand-me-down bikini when I was about 12 in a school swimming session. It was much too big, both top and bottom (she is six years older than me). I dived into the pool and left the bottom half floating behind me in front of the whole class.
                  Ah, happy days :H

If the pool gets very busy next time you will know why.
Just back from 50 lengths, still having problems doing a full length freestlye however.

Thanks for the pictures Marshy, very interesting. I think there will be a real feel good factor in London when it takes place. Is the stadium far from Greewich?

Hey Bets!! What are you doing flashing the locals??? Flaunting your Hottieness???? Bathing suits are over rated. Well, for hotties anyway. Having recently spent time in my Dad's hospital room, I saw more than I wanted to AKA Dad should definitely keep those trunks on.

Anyway.... I digress. I was back in the gym today for a meager 20 minutes of cardio and then a couple of laps around the track just walking. Not much, but a start. My throat REALLY got irritated from the breathing tube + the surgery happening on top of it. I could definitely tell for sure that I was breathing today, which I suppose is a good thing on some level.

I plan to be back there tomorrow for 30. Unfortunately, I'm very sure I will not touch a weight until next week sometime. Some things I know I can't push right now.

Marshy, can I come stay with you and let's go to the Olympics Pwetty Pwease Pwease Pwease???? Love the bike piccies!!!

OK I gotta go hit the shower. :b&d::sofa::b&d: It's good to be back in action.

                        Hey all,

Did a bit at the gym yesterday for the first time in a week. Oucha. Trudging back there today.

KTAB - the stadium is in Stratford (east London) and the main site stretches over as far as Hackney. (Don't know if that means anything to you). All north of the river anyway. Some events are going to take place in Greenwich, I think. Rowing or something? Horseriding?

DG - Come on over! But bad news! I'm sure I read somewhere that there won't be beach volleyball at 2012. Each host country gets to choose which of those "extra" sports they have, and I think we're going to go for cricket because we're so good at it (haha, joke for any Aussies reading).

                          :b&d:

Nice swim yesterday but I wasn't in the mood for much cardio. DG, you're doing more cardio than me at the mo and you're just out of hospital!

The new sauna and steam room have opened at my gym, at the edge of the pool, so I tried out the sauna after my swim. Bit too hot for me! Didn't try the steam room coz a guy came into the sauna and said "oh, it's not very hot in here - it's much hotter in the steam room", so I thought I'd probably evaporate in there. Might be more appealing in winter maybe.

Hi Marshy!! I like little swimmer smilie of yours! I was a slacker yesterday and blew off the gym. So far today I have blown it off too. I'm using this "recovery" as a mental excuse which is rediculous. The only reason the doc said I would be driving restricted is because he figured I'd be juked up on pain meds which I don't need (cuz he did such a good job I guess!). I'm definitely not ready for weights but there is no reason I can't get on the cardio equipment as already proven on Monday.

                            :b&d: is right!

Cycled to work this morning. Lovely sunny day
