July Abbercisers - We're so HOT you can't touch dat!

Deter that is a funny video!! I love Jim Carey.

I did a hard 30 minutes on the arc machine yesterday. I went up a level on the "cardio" workout which is more of a climbing action so somewhat of a lower body workout without the weights (other than me). I can't wait to get back to weight training. My follow up appointment with the surgeon is tomorrow and I'm hoping to get clearance to start trying some really light weights this week and see how it feels. That heavy bag of groceries last Wednesday did NOT feel good at all but hopefully as each day passes it gets better. (I thought the stuff inside my throat was going to spew out the hole across the room or something.)

I will be back at the gym today for more cardio which will finish out my week at only 4 workouts. That's weenie. :b&d: Next week is another week.

ETA: Did another 30 minutes of Torture Arc today. Feels good. :b&d: Am I the only one crazy enough to torture myself on a Sunday????

Hi all, great thread! I am also an avid exerciser. My trainer is 60 and looks 45, she is my hero. Dee is competing in body building in March. I have been weight training 5 days a week and do cardio 3 days. Hopefully someday soon it will show.

July Abbercisers - We're so HOT you can't touch dat!

                Morning everyone,
I did a full body workout yesterday because I had to skip Friday. I hate missing a day. I sure wish I could be as motivated not to drink as I do my exercise routine. Today I am going to walk 2 miles and go to the gym. My husband and I purchased a Nordic Trak Life Cycle and it should come within a week. I have never been much of a cyclist but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

I am never able to loose any weight but I keep trying. No matter what I do I stay the same, I figure it must be the drinking that is keeping the pounds on. Pretty frustrating really.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Welcome Sparkle! MAN you have quite a workout schedule! I too reached a point shortly before turning 50 where no matter what I did, the pounds piled on very easily and were extremely difficult to remove. I thought removal of AL would make the big difference, but I was disappointed. (this goes back to July '07 and my 60 days AF, then relapse) I'm not sure how old you are or if your body is experiencing any of the things that mine did. I saw Suzanne Somers interviewed on TV and then read her book "Ageless." That started me on a new path and I now get the results I should as a result of staying AF, eating right and exercising. (I was low thyroid and also messed up progesterone and estrogen - I now take a low dose of Armour Thyroid and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement for the P&E). Just wanted to toss that out there as so many women suffer as I did when we may not have to.

Deter - I have a :H vision of you hobbling to your weight bench in the DorkBoot(tm). Seriously - it sounds like you are adjusting to life as it must be for healing. Without booze. That's awesome!

Guitarista good to see you and good for those early AM workouts! And thank you so much for the reminder and mental image of what those early mornings will be like when it's winter here!!! :upset: :b&d:

KTAB - good for you - keep up the great work!

Doc gave me clearance on Monday to resume "all normal activity." I forgot to ask him about abnormal activity, but I guess that's another topic LOL! So I did lower body workout and also 30 min of cardio and extra ab work yesterday. I had to drop back on the weights a little bit from where I left off, but not too much. I'm feeling it today in a GOOD way. YAY!!

I hope to squeeze in a cardio session today between things and then I will hit an upper body workout tomorrow. I am getting back to work with the PersonalTorturer(tm) next week. Life is good.

DG, congrats on your doc's approval on : "all normal activity." whatever that means LOL

it was 100 degrees outside today but I hobbled my butt out there and cranked out some more weights. Warning: have a spotter when doing bench press....I almost did the "I'm stuck under the dumbel" routine but not quite. whew!

July Abbercisers - We're so HOT you can't touch dat!

                      Hey all you HOTTIES!

I have been away from internet so much that I am totally out of the loop, but exercise is MY thing! But I am always looking to burn the most calories without a monotonous work out. Lately I've been in the mountains doing some serious hiking --- wish I could do that everyday but it's flat as a pancake where I live. It's also hot as well.... HOT.

So I am trying to spice it up at the gym.... thankfully they have the new ellipticals, treadmills and bikes that have the built-in Television and Ipod docks. So I take my Ipod that is loaded with great work out music, dock it on the machine and my whole playlist comes up on the TV screen. I record movies and shows I like on my Ipod, then I watch them at the gym! It keeps me on the treadmill the entire show. Sadly, I have become addicted to this one particular show that was the only interesting thing on the day I forgot to take my Ipod. I would never in a million years have chosen to deliberately watch "Real New York Housewives", but let me tell you... it is the dumbest but extremely entertaining show and you will NOT be thinking about how hard your are breathing or how your thighs are burning when you watch it! It keeps me on the machine for over and hour and I allow myself to walk only during commercials. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but hey... whatever keeps you motivated!
If you do not live the life you believe, you will believe the life you live.

Your comment makes me wish I led a more edgy life! :H Deter you have GOT TO BE CAREFUL!!! You are not 18 and invincible!!!!! If you can't be responsible with your exercise toys then we will have no choice but to limit your activities to checkers or something along those lines. I was going to say knitting but that entails needles which could be dangerous.

Prest it's good to see you! Even Mr. Doggy loved Desparate Housewives - especially season 1. We are waiting for last season on DVD / Netflix to watch it commercial free and all in a row. Is New York housewives as good as that? If it's "reality TV" heck it might be better LOL! I wonder if that is on in Chicago??? Hope you will keep abbercizin with us!

:b&d: I did squeez in cardio yesterday for 30. Did a upper body workout today. I am still totally in love with that chin up machine thingy. I did it twice today utilizing two different grips. Look out Demi from that soldier girl movie. Another couple of years and I *might* be able to do a real chin up like that! Also did 10 minutes warm up on the arc thingy, and then 15 more after weights. Tomorrow I'm planning another lower body, then cardio and abs on Saturday, and upper body on Sunday. Monday off. Then PersonalTorturer(tm) resumes on Tuesday.:b&d: Life is good.

                          Hello all,

As they say, no rest for the wicked. I'm going to the gym this morning with my trainer. We are working legs today. Hubby and I ordered a Nordic Trak Life Cycle, hope it comes today.

Sparkle, how long have you been working with a trainer? I just started that a couple of months ago and I love it. I'd be interested in how often you work with your trainer and the benefits you find in shelling out the $$ for that. Hope your Nordic machine arrives today!

:b&d: Chalk me up for a 30 minute cardio session today. Since I did lower body yesterday, I didn't want to be too hard on the legs so I did the "weight loss" mode rather than "cardio" or the harder ones that have more intense "climbing." But weight loss mode is still good - it just focuses on going faster rather than more uphill if that makes sense. I have no idea if the calorie burn estimates on these machines are anywhere close to reality (and I'm sure it's different for each of us anyway!) but I love imagining that I really did burn 430 calories by 6:30 AM. (and Deter, you can stop that little mind of yours right now about other calorie burning activities for that time of day. Mr. Doggy is NOT a morning person in any sense of being a morning person :H)

                            So...where is everyone? :b&d::sofa:

Am I the only one silly enough to be knocking myself out at the gym this week?????

It's been good to be back working with PersonalTorturer(tm). She kicked my butt with a lower body workout on Tuesday and Upper body yesterday. I did cardio on Wednesday6 - 20 minutes on the bike with the video screen (I wish the sitting part of that was more comfortable!) and another 15 on the arc machine.

I'm going to do lower body today, serious abs tomorrow, and upper body on Sunday. Monday is my day of plotting against humanity oops I mean rest.

Been a slug. I've had an eye infection which looks horrible, and so pure vanity has kept me away from the gym this week (plus, I can't swim with it so haven't had my usual incentive).

Am planning to go on a bike ride with my cycle group on Sunday. Normal service will be resumed next week.
