Day 39 or 40 lost count

Thanks for your recent responses to my recent post.
Still working sobriety. First 4th of July sober in 30 years?
Maybe I go stoned when I was 16, with my girlfriend watching
the fireworks.......those were the days, less fear, more dreams,
less failures. At least I can celebrate not drinking 1 liter of vodka
every 3 days. More good stuff is happening to me than bad stuff.
Economy still sucks, milk sales are down, everything is down at least
I am not drowning myself with booze.

Hi Moofarmer and HUGE congrats on your sober time! I can really relate to your post about life being so much better - despite the problems - when we are not drowning it all in booze. I too was a vodka person with wine as my #2. Although I think the container of Vodka I went through every 2 - 3 days was bigger than a liter. 2 liters perhaps? At any rate, ANY amount of booze no matter how small or large is too much for me.

Sober is good. Hang in there - life will just keep getting better.

        Good move MooFarmer and Congrats!

What struck me about your realization is that you have see that 'over time' our drinking changes. When we were younger it was about celebrating and dreaming. As we go on in life it can be about numbing ourselves and/or avoiding. The 'happy habit' changes to medicating.....How lucky you are to have seen this and you made a change!

That is how it was for me too, so I decided to stop awhile and see if life would be different. Three months into this I can say a big 'yes'. The sucky things are easier to deal with and we can see things more clearly.
