    AF Daily - Friday - JUly 31st

I thought I'd start the thread today as it's morning in the UK and I wanted to tell what happened last night, a simple pleasure!

Today is day 7 for me, it's interesting (to me) that I can say this is day 7 rather than yesterday was day 6, it's a subtle difference that to me shows the change in my thinking, and my resolve.

Anyway last night, at 9.45 pm my older daughter asked if I could give her and her friend a lift to the club they were planning to go to. There's no need to say that I haven't done this much in the past!

I decided to pick up my other daughter and her friend from her friend's house as they were going to the same club. So the four of them were in the car laughing and joking, and my younger daughter was making us laugh with her story of how she had been stopped in the shopping centre and asked if she wanted a free test for chlamydia, being a chaste 17 year old she was greatly embarrassed. Her other story was about a cross dresser she served in the shoe shop she works in part time, all part of the rich tapestry of life.

6 days and the difference in my younger daughter's attitude toward me is immense, she wouldn't have shared those things before.

I hope everyone has a great day.
I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.

    Hi Gold & everyone,

Gold - that's great! What a difference a week makes, eh? Those rewards we get are amazing, even if they're simple things.

From yesterday: Cindi, it's good to hear your daughter is sober. It's reassuring that people can make huge changes in their lives.

    Have a good day all.

Good morning Gold and Marshy and all to come.

I am also finding my taxi services being utilised, every night this week infact:H
Day 29 for me today and a busy day ahead, i think its called a life. Got the kids till wife comes home from work at dinner time. Then got the front garden hedges lawn and borders. A quick trip to the tip.Get some food shopping in. Then play football tonight. They sound like mundane things but these are exactly the kind of things i have been missing. Normal every day things i appreciate now that most people take for granted.
The last thing my wife said to me last night was how good it was to have me sober again.. It made me fall asleep with a smile on my face.

          Morning Abbers!

Gold, thank you for getting us started. It's so wonderful what gifts we receive when we make the effort to be AF! Sounds like a wonderful evening with your girls!

Hi Marsh! I didn't finish yesterday's thread yet, so I will have to go back. Cinders, ditto what Marshy said.

Macks, I love your excitement and enthusiasm for the activities of daily living. It rubbed off on me as I read it! I wish you could bottle it and send it out to others in need. I guess you could call it "Zest for Life", a priceless beverage!

Off to work with me. Have a great AF day, all.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Good morning Ab Landers! Gold thank you very much for getting started. I'm so glad you shared your experience with your daughters and their friends from last night. That made me smile!! And appreciate how sobriety allows us to be available to ourselves and our families 24X7.

Mack, I can sure relate to your enjoyment of the simple things of life. I think that is one of the greatest blessings of recovery. I hope to never forget how it was (it sucked) to just let all the things of life pass me by. That is great about your wife!!! Oh - and if you run out of yard work.........

Greenie I can't wait to hear about the seminar. I hope you find some other excuse to show off your robe and bed head. (PLEASE tell me you remembered your robe!!) Or maybe there will be a fig tree. I need to google fig tree to see what those even look like.

Marshy I hope your friend's brother comes around. It is so difficult that we can't help people unless they want help.

Cindi I am very happy to hear about your DD!!! Your post made me think of a couple that go to many of the same AA meetings I attend, and their daughter who has a very young son is really struggling right now and they are so worried. Alcohol really is insidious for so many of us. I'm glad you are doing well - our first priorities have to be our own sobriety. Lord knows I was willing to put AL first for all those years.

Deter that is good news about no surgery and the removal of the dork boot!

It poured last night but I'm guessing my Evil Bunny lived through it to eat more of my beans. I must figure out some new strategies. I think I made some mistakes with the pickles yesterday. I guess I'll not find out until winter since all the jars sealed. (at least that part worked!!) It's still unseasonably cool so I don't think I'll end up with the mountain of zukes and cukes that I had hoped for. Oh well - that's mother nature.

There is a big sale at the mall starting today for "back to school." Hard to believe summer is almost over. I think I'm going to head over for a little shopping seeing as how I have a small credit balance on my Carson's card. So I'll just buy one little thing. Promise! Really!

Have a wonderful AF day all. Strength and hope!

              Good morning!

It isn't even 6am I have already scrubbed the carpet in the den! The little one spilled Welches Grape Juice, a whole glass full at that, this morning. It might as well have been red wine due to the stain factor. I got most of it out. I will have to clean the den carpet tomorrow. It is one of this highest traffic areas in the house and man, it gets dirty. I am thankful for my wonderful carpet cleaner. It has come in handy on several occasions! I am thankful that most of our house has hardwood floors however.

              Today is Friday! Yee ha!

Until later, friends. I have to run. I will catch up on the posts this evening.

              Have a great day!

                Good Morning All,

Today is day 60 Alcohol Free for me I can't believe it. Hubby joined me last week and gave up the drinking too. My kids are happy.
Last night we watched Coraline Pop-corn and raspberry seltzer.
                No headaches this morning.

Carry on, and congrats to you all!!:goodjob:

I'm planning a fun trip for my 4-H club and I'm beginning to wish I hadn't. I just don't understand people sometimes and it is extremely hard for me not to take these things so personally.

DG-I just had to pop in and comment on your purchased fox pee pellets. :H
I have requested that my boys pee around the perimeter (not on the plants) of my garden for a few years now to help keep the deer and other critters out. I also save the hair from their haircuts and put it around. I encourage the puppy to poop and pee around the garden. Oh, and I also put up a fence!!!:H

                  Gotta run--have a great sober friday all!:h

AFM - LOL I just said to Mr. Doggy about 15 minutes ago that I can't wait to get rid of the last of our carpet! (we're down to zero on the first floor) Muddy dog prints for me but that's easier than grape juice! Have a rockin' good day. Oh I forgot to say earlier that I'm mighty impressed with your knitting of dish cloths!

                    :yougo::yougo:CONGRATULATIONS SPARROW ON 60 DAYS SOBER!!:yougo::yougo:

And that is wonderful news that Mr. Sparrow is joining you and that sobriety is such a positive for your family!

LVT, I need to get Mr. Doggy busy peeing out there. And somehow get the help of the dogs. It's fenced in, but obviously not enough to keep my Evil Garden Bunny out. And about that 5% Fox pee stuff??? Don't waste your money! I went out to get the garbage can back in when I got home, and guess who was sitting under my bean plants. (what little remains) AGGGHHHHH!!!! WAR!!!!!! I should invite the neighbor men over and also my hair dresser I guess.

Well, I'm off to the mall as soon as my clothes are done in the dryer. I have a good bad feeling about this mall excursion.

I think you might have a fight on your hands with the rabbits, DG.
My parents grow vegetables, but this year they went away on holiday just after they'd planted out peas, beans, onions, leeks, radishes etc (and crucially, their CAT went away to my sister's to be looked after while they were gone). They got back after a week to find the rabbits had eaten absolutely everything. They had to plant again.
They usually have some rabbit damage, but the cat usually patrols the garden pretty well.

                        Evening Gold,Hi All,
I know what you mean Gold. 26 days AF.
Life at home has changed massively. We have laughter. The real kind. The kids and hubs are stopping to worry about what kind of state I'm in when they come home.
I'm waking with the birds not a hangover.
There's a new joy in the house.
Today I've had a chill out day, because I wanted to. Not because I'm incapable through AL..
It's a new way of life. A new beginning. A new freedom.
Love and big hugs to you all.

                          Aloha Friday ABerooooooos!

Gold, Sparrow you two take a bow! congrats on the AF accomplishments.

it's been hotter than a 5 dollar shotgun here in the high desert lately. whew! swamp cooler is really barely doing the trick. I've noticed something interesting though: now that I've been AF for some time my body can regulate it's own temperature VERY well. it used to be that I was always sweaty and uncomfortable when I drank. Yet another AF blessing!

                          off to see the wizard....

                          be well my friends

Hello AFers and Aberooneys and anyone else.

Reading today's thread has me smiling because so many are doing so well. Lives brought back from despair to happiness, spouses joining in, all such wonderful news.

Thank you for sharing. Perked me right up.

Sparrow, a big congratulations on 60 days. That is a momentous achievement.

DG, too funny about evil bunny. I keep thinking about the rabbit in Monty Python's The Holy Grail. "Wot, it's just a rabbit!!" :H

I am with all on the no carpeting. Between grandchildren, dog and cats, my floors stay a mess. Mostly tile in my house, which is great by I do hate mopping, too. I keep looking longingly at Roombas but figured we'd just forget to empty it, just like the cat box. I am too cheap, anyway. Well, maybe not.. Hmm..

                            Hi, Det.

As for the weather, it is so odd. Here it is almost August and Alabama, and we are having rain and temperatures with the highs in the 80s. Meanwhile the Northwest is suffering this incredible heatwave. Definitely a change from the normal weather patterns, but then what is normal in a system as complex as our weather?

All who need it, stay cool!! Although, I have always said that the southern summers is what makes us southerners so tough and feisty.

Thank you again for being here and sharing your good and bad everyday. I like walking this AF path with all of you.

                            Cindi
