    August Abbercisers are HOTTIES one and all!

    Is exercise part of your new sober lifestyle? Are you just thinking about making exercise part of your new sober lifestyle? Wanna be a HOTTIE? Well then this is the thread for you! What is your plan and how are you doing?

    Aside from continuing my weight training this month, I have a goal to try out one or more of the free classes offered with my health club membership. They have lots to choose from - yoga, abs 'n flabs, pilates, you name it. I'm not sure if we are still in the summer schedule or if the fall schedule starts this month but I've got both catalogs right here so there is no excuse!

    I didn't make it to the gym on Friday as planned so that cardio is gone forever, but I did make up the Lower Body Workout along with Abs yesterday. I actually had an amazing gym experience yesterday. I can't ever remember having a huge burst of energy at the very end of my workout like I had yesterday. It felt awesome. That must be the "runners high" I've heard so much about. That "high" is something worth chasing! I will be back in the gym today for upper body workout and cardio.

    Plans for the week:

    Monday: off
    Tuesday: Lower Body with PersonalTorturer(tm)
    Wednesday: Cardio (a class perhaps??)
    Thursday: Upper Body with PersonalTorturer(tm)
    Friday: Lower Body
    Saturday: Abs & Cardio
    Sunday: Upper Body

    I'm off work until Friday so taking the opportunity to go to a few classes at the gym too this week. A new one (new to me anyway) called "supple strength" tomorrow which I think is a bit yoga-ish. Golden oldies yoga on Wednesday - it's open to all ages but because it's at 11am when most people are working it's usually women in their sixties and seventies, who are all much more flexible than me! Then on Thursday, they're doing free weights tuition for beginners so I might try that.

    Today I've done: 10 mins rowing, 25 mins cross trainer, then my resistance weights routine (leg press, shoulder press, chest press, a vertical pulley thing and upper back), then a swim.

      Hi Hotties, afraid I am going to be out of action for a little while, I managed to put my back out yesterday, tripping up a step with a cat litter tray in hand of all things
      Only muscular so hoping to get back into it later in the week but probably a good idea to stick to the swimming to start.
      Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

        KTAB, I'm SO sorry to hear about your trip. 'Glad it's just muscular, and glad that you have the good sense to let it heal and stick to an activity that doesn't aggravate it. I've seen people really mess up their backs because they don't know when to stop.

        And BTW, I love you but your avatar is freaking me out!

          Ah sorry to hear that LilBit. I thought he looked a friendly old wino plus he is smiling.
          I could always photoshop a nice pair of specs onto him if you think that might help

                  Hello hello, still abbercising. More Gym than Yoga at the min as I'm really working hard on reducing my bodyfat. Last month I lost *Drum Roll* 1lb !!!! and that was so hard fought for. I'm generally doing at least 45 mins of sweaty cardio and have added 30 mins of weights.

                  If I ate junk and sat on my ass all day I'd accept my 40% bodyfat - but I truly truly don't so it HAS TO GO!!!!!

                    hi guys!

                    i'd like to jump back in the game...i'm going to walk 3 miles right now and 3 miles this evening (i am still withdrawing a bit, so hardcore exercise is not looking promising until at least next week).

                    its good to be back in a positive place!

                            ok back on track here...

                            hobbled out to my exercise doo-hickey and did some leg raises (stomach L's I think they are called). and some wide pushups for chest.

                              I didn't want to say anything because Peacenik and I are not yet introduced (Hi Peacenik) but it looks like a poached egg gone awry. What, indeed?

                              I'm off to the gym and hoping that Hans the Goatherder (ok, he only smells like a goatherder) is not there today. It's hard to lift freeweights when you're holding your breath.
