AF daily - Sunday August 9th

    Morning!

I had one of those moments when I woke up with a fuzzy head this morning - "uh oh, was I drinking last night?". No! Phew. Should have just kept the bedroom window open all night. So it's a great relief, as always, to wake up unhung as DG would say.

Here's a soothing Sunday website if anyone's interested. It's by a guy called Tony Richards who goes out for a walk in the Lake District in northern England every day with his dog and posts some pictures. (There are lots of ads at the top of the page - you need to scroll half way down to see the pix). I love this site! Maybe I'll do a similar thing when I retire (which gives me 20-odd years to learn how to take pictures and create a website :H). Lakeland Cam

Happy day to all to come!

AF daily - Sunday August 9th

    Morning abbers!!

Marshy that would really be a nice thing to incorporate into ones day, eh? Beautiful shots.

I had the best day yesterday. I enjoyed both movies and lunch. At the first film, I was chatting with the guys at the register who made fresh popcorn and delivered it to me at my seat and it was med. vs small and warm Then chatted with the people beside me in the theatre. And the lunch spot owners, and more people in the theatre. I enjoy that and would not have done so were I not alone.

Food Inc. was along the lines of Big Agra (as in Big Pharma) and not PETA driven at all. I saw some things I had not seen before but they were not "driven home", just part of the film. The point is that a couple big companies control what we eat and are doing so through the exploitation of consumers, workers, animals and the planet. What they do is hidden from us and they are have so many powerful people in place to make their practices and secrecy legal that it is frightening. For example they want to make any photos of feed lots illegal. WTF? "Here, you buy this and eat it but you don't get to know about how it's made and what's really in it." And guess what? It's making you fat and sick, but we don't care, we are rich.

So.....eat seasonal local food from your farmers. Plant a small garden. (You can even do container gardenting which is very efficient) Read the lables at the grocery. When your food is scanned at the grocery, you are voting for what kind of food you want. I'll hush now.

Anyway, the rest of the day I piddled around. It was great. Today I need to get outside and do some things before it heats up.

    Have a great day!

Good morning (well, afternoon now???) Marshy and thanks for getting us started today! Unhung here as well and grateful for it. That is an awesome web site!! Thanks for the hint about scrolling past the ads. Hope the ads work for that guy to help fund his project. I love the picture of the cows today.

Hula, good to see you. I don't know the answer when it comes to your saved stuff. I always find that stuff very difficult to let go of. But then I think of my mother's basement where she has every single thing she ever accumulated in life. And I let things go. I don't think us kids will have to worry about cleaning out the basement of all her saved stuff though - she's healthy as a horse and going strong in the back half of her 70's and she will probably outlive us all! I love your bike is gym picture. I like that better than the cows even.

Peace I liked your post about treating the inside of our bodies gently. I still have work to do in that area. I've been using sugar lately a lot like AL which is a problem both mentally and physically. LOL on the food saver and body parts. EWWWW!!!!! :H

It's bazing hot here. Isn't this what I've been hoping for to benefit the garden??? Geez what was I thinking??? I better have a shit pile of tomatoes ripe by tomorrow, dangit! Well, I'm heading off to AA to try to get my head on straight for the day. Then to the gym, then back home for a little canning. I think it's going to be an indoors-with-AC-running kind of day.

Strength, hope and AFness to all!

        Good Morning Marshy and Greeneyes
The pix are lovely Marshy, thanks for the link. That would be a lovely way to start the day. Greeneyes, it is interesting the politics of food. Still new to the AF life, but enjoying it.

            Good Morning everyone,

After 51/2 mnths af I went crashing down the rabbit hole in what amounted to a 2 week binge. But with the help and support of the special people here at MWO I'm back with 15 af days and ready to get on with my af life.

The only good thing I can say about those 2 weeks is it reinforced the fact that my sobriety MUST be the number 1 priority in my life. Even if this means making some hard decisions about certain situations in my life.

So here I am. Starting over. I hope it's okay if I join this thread.

                  Good morning Abbers,

Thanks for the website Marshy, nice pics!

Greenie, we're planting our Fall garden now, broccoli, cabbage, etc. It's not always easy to eat healthy, is it?
DG, we're heading into several hot, hot, humid days here too! My plan is to hide in the AC as much as possible
                  Hello to Paula & Wally!
Lilmea, glad to see you here, stay strong

                    Good morning!

An active thread already this AM!

It is FINALLY raining here. We have had such a dry spell and so needed this change of weather. Today I am going into the basement and doing some clean up. It is amazing how fast a mess can accumulate when you have basically the room of a house downstairs and you are 'upgrading' upstairs. LOL!

I am feeling much better this AM. Man, that stomach bug I had lasted until yesterday from Thursday. That really sucked. Little AFM wasn't well with a 'tummy ache' yesterday but seems to be OK today. Thank goodness.

Not much else to say. I hope everyone has a wonderful AF Sunday!

Nice to see you, Wally! I have missed you over in subs! Congrats on your AF time!

Welcome back to Lilmea! I have tried so many times to 'just have a few drinks' after a period of AF. It NEVER has worked out for me. I end up on a 2-3 day bender.... which results in my drinking way too much at least once a week. AF is the safest for me. I honestly don't miss that shitty feeling you get when you drink. Good for you for getting back on the wagon!

Hi to the rest of you! xoxo

AF daily - Sunday August 9th

hi guys and gals, good sunday mornign to you!
lilmea, boy do i understand...i was sober for 4 months and fell hard for most of this summer, to the point my body was hurting badly and i was so depressede, i knew i had to start again...so here i am 10days into a new try at forever being sober. i am doing things differentl this time (more work on me and emotions etc...) might even try aa.

dg and all i highly recommend "speaking of faith" as a source of wisdom and insight into the human condition and healing...i'm not religious at all (in fact i'm an athiest) but the show has great guests and is so thoughtful. there are free podcasts and you can listen to shows directly from the site. i listen while i'm on the treadmill being kind to m poor battered body!

off to hike with my husband sans kid, who went to denver with a friend this weekend.

                      peace and sobriety to all!

Good morning, Abbers! (still morning here )

Hey Lilmea! I'm back from the dark side as well... no more 'moderating' pipe dreams for me. Let's DO it, this time, ok?

I'm gonna look up the pics on Marshy's site suggestion in a bit... my connection is still VERY slow and a bit iffy... had major t-storms this morning... I kinda gave up on resetting clocks around the house! But... it's clearing up now; the sun is even peeking through. Guess that means I can do laundry after all, huh? Darn. :H

I wish all you 'southeners' would quit complaining about heat! What heat!? Global warming is totally bypassing us... SO not fair!

Ok, off I go then. Wishing all of you (us) a happy AF Sunday!

Happy Sunday ABeroooooos of the wild frontier!!!!

got in late last night after watching the UFC at a friends house and going waaaay off the diet eating chips and other evil carbs. Had great fun and being around beer drinkers didn't even phase me happy to say.

I see we have a few folks coming in after painful reminders with AL. welcome home! you know the drill....here is your helmet and rifle, hup to three four! time flies when you're having fun so you'll have a couple weeks behind you before you know it.

Greeneyes, thanks for the Food Inc movie report. Have you seen the link on the 'non PC zone' which is in the guys section? the unholy alliance between big gov, big agra, and now centralized health care could create a monster of biblical proportions. I'm NOT happy about the way things are coming together.

my dear Dx needs some help so I'm off...

                          be well everyone,

                            Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping you'll allow me to join all of you. I've been lurking like crazy for the past month or so and am now feeling like I may be able to keep up with some of the conversations??

I know I can not moderate. I know I cannot even try. I am so serious about being AF for LIFE!! I am on day 21 AF and am feeling more and more like my old self (whoever that was?) everyday.

Just wanted to say hello and tell you all how inspirational you've all been to me.

                            Thank you!!
