    AF daily sun 26 Aug

morning all - up early as off to London today with af friends - woo hoo!
was exhausted yesterday couldn't decide what to do with self - ended up doing no exercise. trying not to beat self up tho - so much else is moving on positively.
enjoyed last eve - went out to chat (people smoke outside my house) when they had first few cigs - in end stayed inside as thought would be too tempting.
had 2 servings of choc cheesecake as treat - ooh and coped in an unusual way - fell asleep while we watched a dvd later - no chance of drinking or smoking there!!

Hi Bear, enjoy your London adventure!

Loppy Lugs - nice to 'see' you! I can see your lovely bunny pic, so you must be doing something right! DO you want to share about your strange place?

I've just submitted that vile assignment, am just going to park up and watch the Grand Prix.

Have done so much thinking that I have nothing philosophical to say, but feel good.

        Happy Sunday

        Bets.

Hi bear, thanks for the kickstart! Loppy, I love the bunnies in a box pic! SB! Good to 'see' you! It's been awhile. Congrats on getting that assignment in!

I'm back after a long week away from Ohio. I've been with my brother who has been in ICU for heart problems. He is a S. Carolinian. He is finally getting better and will be off to a stint in rehab to regain strength.

I've been listening to A New Earth (Tolle) on my Ipod and find it very interesting. I think I am beginning to truly understand his message. I may have to buy a hard copy so I can review from time to time. He mentions addictions and dealing with them by observing and giving attention to the voice in your head, but not reacting to it. The audio book is read by Tolle himself, and he has a very soothing way of talking which I find puts me in a very calm frame of mind.

Well, have a great AF day everyone!

Hi Bear, a day in London sounds nice! I want to get there, one of these days. The closest I've ever come was a 3 hr. layover at Heathrow.

Bets, rest your brain today, you deserve it

Good news about your brother Dill. Hope he does well in rehab! Your audio book sounds good, enjoy that. Anything that calms the mind sounds good to me

Going to look for a pleasant outdoor project today - the rain has stopped.
            Enjoy your AF Sunday everyone!

Hello all and thank you Bear for getting us started! I'm with you on falling asleep during a DVD as a great way to not smoke or drink. Have fun on your outing today!

Loppy!!! I LOVE the bunny pic! I hope your strange place is not a bad place. Let us know if we can help.

SB, congrats on finishing up that assignment! OH I envy you that "kick back" kind of day. Good for you.

Dill, welcome back home and I'm glad to hear that your brother is doing better. I am looking forward to reading some Tolle at some point. I've pretty much given up on extra cirricular reading until I finish the AA steps and/or gardening season is over!

Lav, good to hear the rain has stopped! Hope you find a fun outdoor project.

Hello to all yet to come!

I need to get a move on and get off of MWO! I'm planning to cook a turkey today which will make meal planning easy for the week. I'm still going crazy with the dehydrator. Last night I dried some yellow and red tomato bits. Today I want to put in some more grapes for raisin conversion. And I have a big AA day coming up tomorrow (Step 5 for those familiar with AA) so today is my final prep day. I need to get busy!

Life is good. Sober life is grand. Strength and hope to all who need some extra today!

                top of the weekend ABerooooos!

                thanks Bear, enjoy your trip.

DG, Lavande, Betty, Loppy (heya stranger!) Dill and all to come, hope your day is fantabulous.

Dill I really think the audio book A New Earth, by E. Tolle was a significant tool in my becoming sober. it really is that powerful of a read. (or listen in our cases). I couldn't recommend it enough, and I'm so glad you are 'getting it'. it can be pretty deep. I have now listened to the book at least 10 times since I got it last year, and probably will listen another couple of times this year.

Love the cute bunnies Loppy! please tell us what you been up to eh?

                be well,

                  helllloooooooo!

i'm convinced, i will read "a new earth"...i've been avoiding it because oprah gets on my nerves and she touts it like its a bible...i'll keep an open mind. determinator and i have differing views on alot of 'issues', but i think garlic is our common thread, and anyone who loves garlic like i do must know a thing or two!

well, we didn't go backpacking because my husband got a mad case of conjunctivitis and my daughter got a nasty cold...oh well, there's always next week! and yep, there are mountain lions around...friends have seen them (some while sitting in a hot tub!) and my husband got some good photos of fresh tracks on the trail the last time he hiked the black hills.

i am so grateful for this thread and the support i feel just reading everyone's posts...have a great end of summer sober day!

                  peace

                    Hi all,

Scorchio here today:rays: Been chilling out, catching up with friends and had a great swim

:H I've "been to" Qatar like that - nose pressed up against the window in the transit lounge to see what there was to see in the darkness.

Dill - I hope your brother continues to improve.

DG - good luck with step 5.

Hi to bear, Loppy, Sweaty, Det and Peace (sounds like a variation of the seven dwarves!)

Aloha All. Planning on house organizing today. While I was in Cali hubby had the carpets cleaned and stretched. So, everything, and I mean everything, went into the garage. I came home to an empty house with just a bed to sleep on and a table to eat on. It was kind of refreshing for awhile, but now I am needing to nest. He doesn't want anything to come back in so I have to do it all by myself. Fortunately he went to play golf so I have the house to myself to do what I want. Really, I am not going to leave the bookcase with all our family picture albums in the garage. So have to get busy before he gets home. How silly to feel like I'm sneaking around, but not having to justify or argue about every little thing is a relief.

Everyone sounds as if they are having a good af Sunday. I loaded my bike in the truck and took it to a new bike trail about 30 miles from where I live. It was nice and quiet through some woods and fields. (piece-I didn't see one mountain lion though) I rode the whole 26 miles. Tomorrow I will probably be very sore. Ouch!

Hoping everyone a good, af evening.

It's great to hear everyone's doing well. The world is obviously as it should be. I'm very obsessed with my duties here, partly to persuade myself to 'keep calm and carry on' (!!!) So far it's working. Today I've been rounding up the papers I need to discuss tomorrow with someone who's going to help me with all the legal stuff. I'm nervous about the appointment though he sounded nice over the phone. Having said that, your step 5 is a much bigger deal, DG. I'm also very pleased for you getting through that milestone. Good luck! Nite all.

peacenik, I feel the same way about Oprah. I first heard of The Power of Now, by E. Tolle on this website. Really liked it. However, I first tried reading it, but didn't get as much out of it that way. For me, listening to it in the words of the author made a huge difference.

Hope your hb and daughter get well quickly.

Det, I will no doubt be listening to that book again and maybe several times. I can surely relate to what you said.

DG, best of luck with your 5th step!

Hula, I kind of envy you the "clean slate" of an empty space to fill. Tell us how it goes!
