    Pythagoras

Pythagoras established a strict routine for his students, paying particular attention to the hour of waking and the hour of falling asleep. Students were advised upon rising to repeat the versus:

As soon as you awake, in order lay
The actions to be done the coming day.

At nightfall they were to recite:

Allow not sleep to close your eyes
    Before three times reflecting on
Your actions of the day. What deed
Done well, what not, what left undone?

Okay, Pythagoras, sounds like a plan to me!

    1967,
I hope that works for you - I'm sorry to say that routine would seriously annoy me. I generally try NOT to think about my day while trying to go to sleep - it lowers my blood pressure

hi Lavande... I actually slept pretty well for a change last night.
Generally speaking, now that I'm AF, my days are more made up of good versus bad for a change.
But I still have the problem of low self-esteem and constant worry.
So when I do reflect on exactly what really DID happen in the day, versus the worry I experienced which 'might' happen in future, it turns out that my day was pretty good. that is generally how my brain function when i'm trying to go to sleep... i worry about the future.
whatever we need to do to get through i suppose is the right answer for each of us.

i'm feeling pretty good this morning.
i will stay in the moment today and not worry what is down the road.
      good day to all.

On a more serious note 1967, take a look at The To Do Institute website. They practice & teach Japanese Psychology Morita & Naikan therapies. I have a membership there and amy trying to learn more about mindful living, gratitude and the art of self-reflection. They have a wonderful publication called Thirty Thousand Days.
