DG - I read the link about your gym. Can't believe people are prepared to run on a treadmill at 3am!! I have to confess that would be a step too far for me.sigpic

Hi all! :b&d:
Marshy - I'm with you. Good thing nobody was holding their breath waiting for me to sign up for that 3AM shift!! :H I guess groups of friends signed up for blocks in those wee hours and had fun working it as a group effort.
Deter - I can relate. Sometimes the workouts I feel the best about are the ones I was least interested in doing.
Tuesday was supposed to be lower body Personal Torture(tm) but we ended up doing upper body instead. So today will be lower body PT. Yesterday I ran 1.75 miles on the pink treadmill!!! I didn't think I COULD run on a treadmill so this program has been good for me - realizing I can do a bit more than I thought. After PT I am going on the pink treadmill again today. The team effort at the gym to keep it running if someone doesn't show up for their slot or whatever is really cool. A guy was on it yesterday right before me. Glad the guys are supporting the effort too.
Well, :b&d: gotta run. Get out there and ABBERCIZE FOR SOBRIETY TODAY!!!

I thought I was going to DIE during my PT workout yesterday. I broke down and ate chocolate on Wednesday night. After a couple solid weeks of NO processed sugar even the amount in dark chocolate made me feel hungover! Amazing. I'm so glad I don't drink. I simply could NOT do what I'm doing in the gym, especially at my age, if I were still drinking at all, much less like a dang fish. Now I have to stop the occassional sugar diving which just leaves me feeling like crap. Must find other comforts!

excellent DG! (well not the chocolate part) I too battle the sugar cravings now. I find a big dose of Lglutamine to be a big help, but often when a sugar craving hit's I want something NOW. so....keeping fruit, and dried fruit around is a big help. I'll snack on that and nuts after dinner as a treat.
awesome workout today here as well. I ate a huge burrito and then went to my kickboxing class. ahahaha. I must be nuts. I do believe that was cheese coming out of my pores. ick.nosce te ipsum

I am either incredibly out of shape, or I am just not built to be a runner (jogger). I tried to jog for 2 minutes, then walk, then jog, etc. and I about croak! I get so bored on the treadmill I was trying to get it done faster, but I guess I'll just have to stick to walking. Even hubby can run on a treadmill- as he has proven a couple of times during his stress tests.
I could use a little of that whip and chain to get me off the sugar DG! I eat way too much of it. I guess I feel like I deserve to in some way because I don't drink anymore. And I know that doesn't make sense!
I walked on the treadmill the other day for 3 miles (50 minutes) while watching Oprah and it felt great. If I could do that at least 3 times a week, it would do me a world of good._______________

Marshy, I really do love love love your smilies. Hey - the World Championships of gymnastics have been going on in London, right? I've been watching a bit on Universal Sports which is both on-line and a cable channel here in the US owned by NBC. This thing has really expanded and there is a lot of coverage of "secondary" type sports such as gymnastics, figure skating, sking, cycling, swimming, etc. being covered. There was no commentary but on line they showed quite a bit of gymnastics live. I'm sure it's just the base line video feed that is going out to all the different countries / TV stations that contracted to get it. I'm guessing the commentary on TV is added later, and that the commentators are NOT at the event - they are here. A lot lower budget than the old days of Wide World of Sports - but at least people are finding ways to broadcast this stuff in a cost effective way rather than not at all! (as a figure skating and gymnastics fan!)
Anyway....so you are a vaulter now Marshy? I enjoyed watching that "video" of your vault. Are you a little worried about your skin looking so yellow? At least you are smiling though!
Deter that is a good reminder about the L-Glut. I know it helps with sugar cravings but I seem to forget that now that I don't really deal with AL cravings (at least not Big Intense ones) any more. ITA about having appropriate snacks on hand. I really have to make sure I've got a better backup plan at all times!! Burrito. Kick boxing. Ewwww!
LVT, ask and you shall receive. :b&d::sofa::b&d: DROP AND GIVE ME 20!! NO 50!!! If you keep getting on that treadmill every day and running just a little more each time (even starting with a tiny amount) you will be amazed at how your endurance improves!! I know what you mean about thinking we "deserve" sugar when we give up AL. I battle that and also the "I'm at my goal weight so I can...." I need to constantly remind myself about the other perils of sugar for me with Diabetes in my family, and it's cancer food etc. etc. etc. The stakes are high just like with booze and I need to stop goofing around!
Friday: Day off. Figure skating watching!!
Saturday: Lower Body weights but only 10 min cardio.
Sunday: 30 min cardio but no upper body weights.
Monday: 40 min cardio - 20 of that on the pink treadmill. I really did kick some cardio ass and push myself today so that is good after two less than stellar days!
Tomorrow is PT so I know I'll get a good workout then!
:b&d: to all!

It's a bit of a ramshackle site, but there's some nice stuff.
DG - gymnastics in London! Makes sense now. They keep showing clips of it on the news but I haven't been paying attention to what's actually going on, and then a friend of mine said she was "going to see the gymnastics" on Friday night. She's quite sporty so I just assumed it was some random gymnastics event. It's all gone a bit over my head.
Netball tonight. We lost! First time we've lost this season, so I think it was due. I made a really stupid mistake (didn't affect the score or anything) but I felt like an idiot. Thought I'd got past making stupid mistakes. Hey ho.sigpic
