i went to the diwali ball and i didn't drink!
i COULD have!
but i let it go... and it was fine.
and i am SO happy to be home, sober and will be the same in the morning!
what a fun evening!
i got tons of compliments on my outfit too! the first time i wear a sari... nice!

i have to get some rest... tonight i understand that i CAN socialize without being tipsy!
i didn't feel awkward at all.
there were a lot of students and parents there and strangers but i didn't feel like a stranger.
this is so nice for me! the past two years have been very tough.
and the teachers who asked me along are teachers who have given me a lot of crap in the past two years.
i think maybe they are starting to accept that i am here to stay. what is the point of harassing me?

i am very pleased to be at work and not have a hangover!

there were three occassions i was offered a drink and declined.
the first time i was not tempted.
the 2nd time YES i was tempted!
the last time was another no! just because i was getting tired and thought 'don't even think about risking messing up your sleep tonight girlfriend!'
it wasn't an occassion where everyone was drinking but many did.
i feel relieved!

I'm really proud of you. It sounds like you felt fabulous in your new sari and had an awesome time. I find that I care more about my personal grooming and pampering now that I'm sober. And when I primp up and feel good about myself, I am far less tempted than if I don't take the time and care, and feel more like a slob. Whatever works I guess, right?

i did it!

just reading everyone's posts.. home early today from work.
i did some gardening and am ready to finish up some paperwork.
we had another electricity outage today, so annoying. another generator is down and i think this makes three. we have serious electricity problems here!
anyhow, i'm home and i consider day 9 over as i won't go out again today.

today the fantasy was an ice cold bottle of Pinot with a sparkling glass of wine ready to go next to it.
i am still focusing on minute to minute. whatever i gotta do!
