Aloha All! Our daughter is here for a few days. She hasn't been "home" for a couple of years but we've managed to go visit her about once a year. She spent a few days with grandma on her way and today we had the "grandma's an alcoholic" talk. Because of my mother's drinking I made the heroic effort to stop drinking myself when my daughter became a teen-ager. Five years without a drop and then a couple of things happened that sent me right back to where I was before I stopped. A few more years passed then I came here. But that's another story. The whole point of this is that my daughter is here and the conversations are becoming more adult (she's almost 22) and honest. Oh I'm getting all lovey and glowy. This may change by the time she leaves, but for today, all is good.

I'm glad the weekend is over. Made it through so day 7 AF for me and I feel great about that. I don't think I could have done the first week without focusing on my goals and making them priority numer 1! That and all your input here helps when I have little thoughts in my head. As much as I hate saying this cos it is so far from my previous mindset, but not having wine in the house, or making sure you don't stop on the way home to stock up helped save me from messing up. Thanks to posts here is the only reason I made sure I had no temptations near by. Might I say, I have never drank so much tea before in my life, it's been something I drink instead at times of the day that used to be a drunken blur.
Thinking of everyone here and feel grateful for the amount of support, and the feeling that we are not alone battling this.

No, Leelou, we are not alone. I would come home and drink a tall glass of ice water with a splash of lemon juice. And then another one. Finally stopped the lemon juice after my taste buds no longer tasted! What ever it takes. An now I find I am just fine with cold water with my meals. No more juice, soda, or beer or wine.sigpic
