I just read the end of last week's AA thread. Welcome to all the new sharers. If you're lurking, please don't hesitate to share or ask a question. I feel strongly that this is one of the ways we do 12th step work (helping another person). Cindi, good to see you're doing well w/your new sponsor.
Last night I led the BB meeting. It was chapter 3, a woman's story. I so identified with:
-her motivation to begin drinking in the first place...to feel more comfortable around people & to lessen her shyness & sensitivity.
-her black-outs: what did I do last night? How can I find out wo/anyone knowing I don't know? Gosh! The madness of it. I have to say that after the spiritual bankruptcy of keeping the alcoholism secret, the blackouts were the most disturbing part of the disease for me. I didn't love the hangovers, but not knowing what I did & said was worse.
Over the weekend, I heard about someone w/over 4 decades of sobriety who had a relapse after losing his job. None of us is impervious. I only mention this because I don't want to ever get complacent ("It can't happen to me").
Take care one & all.
Love, Mary
