    JACKRABBIT!!

    ROBES RULE!!!!

I did wear the robe! :H Red hair curlers and green face paint. My $5 outfit!
I had a blast! The husband is owner of a high end resto and I cannot begin to tell you about the food. OMG! They had marinated raw oysters that were incredible. The guys thought it would be a good idea to hang around the newly divorced woman in the bathrobe sucking down oysters :H:H AND.... I met a guy to flyfish with!!! Yay!!! Everything was delightful with my soda water and lime!

Hope everyone has a good un-hung day!

Fantastic, Greenie! Sounds like a great evening.

I saw lots of people dressed up when I was coming home from work late last night, but no bath robes! I did see a guy wearing what looked like a normal white lab coat but no other acessories and I wasn't sure what he was supposed to be. Maybe he was just a scientist on his way home from work. :H I was knackered and didn't go out but certainly felt like a zombie after a long week.

Having a slooow morning, which might turn into a slooow day.

Good morning!! Jackrabbit back at ya Greenie! Thanks for starting things off today and I'm really glad to hear you had so much fun at the party. And got attention as the "newly divorced woman." LOL I have this vision on my head that is like Scarlett O'Hara at the BBQ with all the men gathered around her - fetching for her. Except in this scene it's YOU in your bathrobe and curlers surrounded by zombies and ghouls - fetching for you.

Hmmmm...now we have multiple dating possibilities going on. Greenie and fly fishing and Marshy, I noticed a few days ago YOU mentioning some dating possibilities. So those of us who are married will be sitting on the edge of our :sofa: wanting to live vicariously though you and hear all about it!!! We will want the DETAILS!! Marshy I still thing your new avatar looks like plucking - just not eyebrows. :H Have a nice relaxing day!!

Leelou, nighty night! Sounds like you had a fun weekend and that is great. Yikes. Monday comes really early for you. But so does Friday so I guess everything works out in the end.

I need to catch up on the rest of yesterdays thread. The last post I read was yours Bear, about those thoughts of "just one." That is IMO a critically important topic as it seems we nearly all (or maybe even all of us) go through it. Here are a couple of thoughts:

        1. I thought I was unique in that I COULD have just one. Not. My results were like most results - back to drinking the old fashioned way and then some. AND it took me EIGHT MONTHS to muster up the *whatever* to get back on the wagon. If I knew then what I know now, I never ever ever would have taken that drink.

        2. I thought the "now I'm fixed" thinking was rational. Looking back on it, for me it was not rational at all. It was my addicted brain willing to send my thinking anywhere just to get a fix.

        3. I don't know why, but I was amazed when I read the Big Book of AA which was written in the 1930's, and describes this phenomenon to a tee. The longing to drink "normally" and the usually disasterous results when it's tried. So this thinking / longing / bad result cycle is nothing new - it's been going on with addicted people for a really really long time.

At the end of the day, I suppose I had to find out for myself despite all the evidence "in my face" as to what the results were likely to be. I respect that many many people around here seem to do the same thing - have to find out for yourself. I hope not though. I always hope not.

Anyway...that's my 2 cents + some on the "will I ever be able to have just one" mental debate. The odds are just not very good IMO. I used to not understand the ODAT mentality. I have since learned the value in all areas of life - not just drinking - of taking things easy and ODAT. Lots of things are overwhelming if we think of them in terms of "forever." Not drinking is not the only thing that I finally figured out is overwhelming when thought of in the "forever" terms. This has sure been a learning and growing experience in so many ways.

Today will be a busy one. I'm doing my usual morning stuff - AA, meeting with my sponsee, gym, etc. Then we are going to visit my Mom and Dad. That will be nice but the day will be gone before I know it and the new week will begin! Hope everyone else survived the halloween festivities in good shape!

        Hope all are UnHung today.

          Hi all,

Boy oh boy there are some very strange creatures in London, and they all came out of the woodwork last night when I returned home on the tube at midnight. Vampires, devils, cows, bats, you name it. That said, I didn't find anyone to go fishing with, Greenie (sigh), but I had a really good time at a multicultural Halloween party. There were mountains of booze available but, interestingly, lots of people I'd never met before drinking sparkling water. I didn't feel the least bit out of place with my apple juice. Maybe there's a social life out there yet....!!

          Have a good Sunday everyone.

            Happy November 1 all Abbers!

Greenie, sounds like your evening was a success.......good for you

Marshy, hope you're enjoying your slooow day, sounds good to me!

Wishing Leelou a good night's sleep

DG, I gave up the mental debate months ago........it's just too damn much work, too tiring for me. Accepting that I will never drink again is much easier for me! Glad I did it!

Pam, have you ever vsited New Orleans? I was there once in July & found that after dark, the weirdos come out of the woodwork there too dressed in all sorts of costumes!! I can't imagine what Halloween night looks like there, ha ha

Wishing everyone a great AF November 1 - I'm planning on a do as little as possible day myself!

Hello friends, I hope you all remembered to set your clocks back if necessary where you live. It was nice to get that extra hour this morning, but now the evenings will seem quite long!

I feel a lazy day coming on after preparing for and sponsoring our kid dance last night. It was a success, at least the kids seemed to have fun, with just a couple of glitches. I will be eating monster eyes and witches fingers and puking pumpkin vomit dip for awhile. Most were too "chicken" to even try them. I was surprised, if they knew the witches fingers were cookie, I think they would have eaten them right up. Anyway, it was a good way to spend Halloween. Hubby and oldest son went to his sister's for the night. I imagine they stayed up and drank beer. I was a little concerned when I saw his vehicle at the bar at 1:00 in the afternoon, but he wasn't in too bad of shape--just enough to annoy me a little.

On the subject of drinking more normally. Once in awhile I ponder my future and one or two drinks now and then.....and it just seems like, "what's the point" ? still. When you go from drinking beer after beer after beer after beer........to none. Why would I be able to (or even want to) drink just one??

Ok, gotta run. Have the Sunday school lesson this morning and I'm not prepared!

Have a great day all! :h

                Good Morning AFers,

                Still sober here and grateful.

Have to start packing for a trip tomorrow. Hands are shaky. I haven't been out of town since my "incident." I don't plan on drinking, though, so once I get there and get busy, I will be fine.

Sometimes I think "just one" would be nice at dinner, etc, but I have to laugh. This person became a pickle a long time ago.

One would just not "do it" for me, and others would follow as I chase the high I want. I have not one whit of doubt about that.

My choice is AF because it is my only option.

Had fun at Hallowe'en last night, had all 6 grandkids. We trick-or-treated first and then all came over and we had a wonderful roast I had slow cooked all day. Even the kids ate it without one complaint. Then all went home at a reasonable hour and I got a good night's sleep. Yay!!

It is great to see all of you here and I had to laugh at Greenie's robe costume. I did that once, too. Easy costume.

                Take care all,

                Love,
                Cindi

Greenie....You are a Hoot!! Just the thought of you woofing down oysters dressed as you were with all the men.......makes me smile!

We had a party and trick or treating at my daughters house last night! Fun! Her neighborhood had something very cool called "Trick or Trunk".....they had a huge movie screen playing a Charlie Brown Halloween movie.....cars were parked in the parking lot with their trunks and hatchbacks all decorated and everyone was in costume.....the kids went trunk to trunk trick or treating!! They also had hotdogs and hot chocolate......it was a really fun time!! I dressed as Cruella DeVille....(no comments!! LOL)...

Any way...it sounds like everyone had a good time and most of all a sober one!!

Cindi....good luck on your trip.....just remember....there is never a reason to drink...not even just one and especially not one!!

                  Have a great day....All!
