    NoSlender but Wannabe?? NOVEMBER ABBERCIZERS!!

Hello everyone! Tom4, good to see you! Marshy, I like that old fart smiley!!

    :b&d:

I did not make an appearance at the gym Friday through Monday. :egad: But starting yesterday I'm back on track. And all that rest actually left me feeling pretty strong! I had to tell PT to torture it up a notch on several exercises yesterday. I could have just slacked, but what :b&d: would THAT be???

Tuesday: 10 minute arc warmup, lower body with PT, 20 minute arc cardio
    Wednesday: 30 minutes arc cardio

I also signed up for the No Gain Maintain holiday challenge. Had to weigh in and everything. At least that is not as scary as it used to be!!

I can't recall if I mentioned this - I don't think I have. But this month is my 1 year anni of being here at my goal weight wearing my same clothes as I bought new a year ago. Well, and some new clothes bought this year too of course, to go with the boots boots boots etc. I need to NOT celebrate with cake.

    :b&d: to one and all!

Excellent on the weight, DG! I still need to get tough with myself about that.

Here's my question: why do people put a bottle of water at the edge of the swimming pool and take a swig every few minutes? Hello? You're IN water, people!

Hey Everyone! DG,,that is so great about your weight! Once I lose this extra weight I am bound and determined never to gain it back again! I've been a yo-yo dieter all my life. I have every size in my closet. Imagine how much room I will have with only one size in it! Back at the gym after a tough weekend away. I so enjoy my routine-but I have to say, it's kickin my butt. I'm exhausted in the afternoons and I almost always need to lay down for 1/2 hour every day around 2. Getting old sux...LOL. Hopefully as I get used to the workouts I won't feel so tired. Anyone have this problem?

LOL Marshy...drinking chlorinated pool water that people are swimming in is a pretty nasty thought! Good point though...DG-I go to a huge gym,,but there are only 2 ARC machines,,and both are broken...WTF? Not happy with that situation so I've been on the lifefitness elliptical machines. Substandard for sure!
Every day is not 100%, however, it is 100% better than my best day of drinking..

          Hi Tass,

I don't know how long you have been AF, but I found that I was really wiped out for at least 6 months after quitting. My energy level slowly started to get better.

I also found (and dear DG will second this), that getting my hormone levels and thyroid checked was really important. I am 52 years old and found that my thyroid was way out of wack and my hormones, adrenal glands, etc were also in rough shape (not uncommon for women this age). I now take thyoid medication and I'm on bioidentical hormones. I have tons of energy (more than most of the people I work out with who are 15 + years younger).

          M3

DG, what say you about this?

:H I meant more that people get water in their mouths, so don't have a dry mouth. Anyhoo, forget that!

Re the tiredness thing. Could you ease back a bit on your exercise routine for a week and see if that helps? Or talk to a fitness instructor at your gym and see if they have any ideas. I notice the instructors who take classes at my gym snack on fruit or dried fruit after they've been running around/spinning whatever for an hour, so maybe you could take some fruit or raw veg with you to have as soon as you've finished to keep your blood sugar levels up?

It's so hot here, just finished Bootcamp in the park, numbers are dwindlling, our team only had 6 people today, I am glad I was one of them but it was so hard, the heat zapped me of energy. I am trying to rid a headache from the heat still, otherwise I am feeling sore but good. Broke a toe last weekend so today was the first day I wore closed shoes. It reminded me it was there during training!
It's week 5 of the 8 week challenge now and I have lost 4kg so far. My goal weight is to lose 12kg so I have a long way to go. But I feel confident, weather I do it in the 8 week challenge or not it doesn't matter to me, as long as I keep going in this positive direction!

Leelou, GOOD FOR YOU going :b&d: despite the heat and broken toe. You will reach your goal if you keep up that level of committment.

:welcome: Greenie!!! :b&d: now drop and give me 50. I don't know of what, but I demand 50 of them right now.

Marshy, whenever I was in a pool and put something to drink along the edge, it wasn't water. But that was long ago. And it wasn't at the health club. Although I would have done it at the health club - rules never stopped me.

Taz - I second what M3 said. Especially if you are in your 40's or 50's, it's worth getting the old hormones checked. A good read on this subject is one of Suzanne Somers books. There are a couple - The Sexy Years is one of them. I learned a lot reading that book and my life has gotten oh so much better after getting my thyroid and other hormones balanced. Finding a decent doc who knows what they are doing with this stuff is the hardest part. I am slowly getting brave enough to let go of clothes in the old sizes. But I'm a LONG way from having all of them out of here!!

                  :b&d:

                  OK.

Friday: 10 min arc warmup, lower body weight machines, ABSnFLABS, 20 min arc machine cardio.
                  Saturday: 30 minutes treadmill.

I'm sore and life is good. Day off tomorrow.

                  :b&d:

Ha! I never thought of that.

So has everyone been too busy exercising to post? Excellent! :H

I've been gymming and swimming as usual. Cycled to work today. Getting a bit chilly but still lots of cyclists out and about this morning. Oo, and for the first time EVER, I hung onto the back of a truck that was crawling up a hill. Dangerous! Don't try it!! I let go pretty quickly :H

My inner teenager thinks that sounds like a LOT of FUN!! :egad:

Wow - I can't believe I haven't posted all week! I have been exercising though :b&d: After a day off on Sunday, I did a killer upper body workout + cardio on Monday, Lower Body with PT and cardio on Tuesday, and Cardio yesterday. :b&d: No rest for the wicked!

As I was working my butt off on the Arc yesterday, I was thinking about what I would wear to the family do today. Then along on my iPod came Confederate Railroad singing "Trashy Women." It was decided right then and there - the tight tight jeans containing spandex that no self respecting 51 year old woman ought to be wearing. Nanny nanny boo boo. :wow: The secondary benefit of this choice will be the inability to overeat. There is simply not THAT much spandex in these things.

:b&d: Hope everyone in the US has a wonderful Thanksgiving and the rest of you people around the world better get your butts in gear and ABBERCIZE today!

                        HELLO! HELlo! Hello! hello!

                        There's an echo in here!

Yesterday was a day off but I was back at it today :b&d: with a hard chargin' lower body workout plus full 30 minutes of cardio even though I really really really wanted to quit early. This AA "Rigorous Honesty" thing is spilling over into other areas of life, sometimes when I least *want* it LOL!

Now all I want to do is curl up with movies and eat junk food. I need to lose that attitude FAST! I was reasonably good yesterday, all things considered. And by "things considered" I mean "piles and gobs of illegal food everywhere I looked." So why does that make me thing popcorn and chocolate are a good idea today???

Oh well. Off to sit in the sauna and try to change this mind set!

:b&d::sofa::b&d: Come out from behind that sofa you guys!!!

:b&d: WHERE IS EVERYONE!! Probably suffering injuries sustained in Black Friday shopping. I hope you are all recovered and back in the gym before I take all the hotness for myself and leave none for the rest of you slugs! JUST KIDDING!

                          Anyway...for today:

Upper body weights. I'm doing regular curls with 17.5 lb dumbells for 2 whole sets now, which is progress!
If I was a super hero, I would be The Wimp because I only did 20 min. of cardio today.

If there is any honor left in me, I will make up that 10 min when I do cardio only tomorrow!!!! We shall see if I am honorable or not.
