AF daily - Friday 18th December

    Hello ab fabbers,

I'm back home! No more asking permission to use the computer, no more being poked with a stick every five minutes, no more listening to my mother telling me she can't understand how I passed one particular exam at school (Almost. Thirty. Years. Ago. Almost. Thirty. Years. Ago) when my sister failed it (the implication being that I'm crap and my sister isn't) - she does that every time I visit and I never see it coming.

But I was on best behaviour, avoided any arguments and despite staying in a house full of booze, several trips to the pub and family get-togethers, I didn't feel the slightest temptation to drink. Coolio! Last time I visited I did want to drink when everyone else was drinking but hopefully I'm over that now.

Phew. At one get-together my brother (who also has a drink problem) said he was thinking about giving up in the new year. And the conversation turned to a rather uneasy discussion of drinking habits in a room full of big drinkers. It was interesting to see who was honest and who put a spin on things.

Anyhoo, I'm off to work later. Back into the groove. We've had a dusting of snow overnight and there's more on the way.

Have a good day everyone! (Oh, and thanks for the download suggestions :tsk

Morning Marshy and all to come

Great to hear you're back safe and sound and in one piece. Do you think your brother might actually follow through? If he did, that would be sure to change the family dynamics and give you company on this side of the fence.

Yes, the snow is lovely. In fact I'm quite ecstatic today! My big work project is finished - wooohooo! And I've finally made the effort to start reconnecting with old friends. I'm meeting someone for lunch today and two people out of town tomorrow. Then more people over the break. Even wrote a Christmas card yesterday to someone who's getting divorced and I've been dithering about what to say. AF rocks!!!

    Have a good day everyone.

Hi Marshy, Pamina and all to follow...

I've been away this week, going hard in my last week of my 8-week lose kilos for charity challenge before doing my weigh-in, summary, measurements, and "after photos"!!! etc... Plus I had to work more than expected, so a busy week. Even did some Xmas shopping....so a productive week indeed. SO glad my 'before' photos look and feel like another world away, and that I'm really enjoying my new skin, both inside and out!

Hope everyone is as calm as they can be amidst the last week before Christmas.....

            Good morning all Abbers!

Glad you survived your trip Marshy! I really hope you did leave a little something 'special' on their computer.......then they would have something new to talk about!!!!

Greetings Pam, Leelou, Starting & Mario! Nice to see you all this morning

We have snow predicted starting tonight & going into tomorrow. Sounds like it could be a substantial amount so I'm going to run out now & gather necessities! So happy the necessities no longer include bottles of wine & plenty of smokes!

Wishing everyone a terrific Friday, stay warm!!

I can't tell you how insane it makes me. :H There's an endless list of other things, too... When I was drinking (so for 20 years ) I was always really tense waiting for her to start on the next thing. But now I'm much calmer. I know she's going to do it but I'm not full of booze making me agitated/annoyed. And I know she's not to change so I'm working on the acceptance thang.

Pamina - dunno about my bro. His wife would certainly like him to stop. At least he's thinking about it... Glad you're having a good time!

Leelou - Congrats on the transformation. Are you going to tell us how much you've lost at the big weigh-in?

              Hi Mario!

Lav - wasn't all that stocking up with booze such an effort
apart from anything else? Especially over Christmas. Do I have enough to drink myself stupid? Better make a last-minute run out just in case. Yuk, yuk, yuk.

Lavande--we used to stock up on beer and ciggies too!! You know I've been stressing just a little about spending too much $$$ again this year on gifts....but if I would add up all I'm saving on beer and ciiggies this time of year......money much better spent this way!

Ok, gotta run! Take care everyone!!:h

                  Afternoon abberoos!!!

GAK! It is a cold blowing rain here. I think I'm through with the car for the day (if I get my dad's Christmas cards done before the mailman comes and if I don't they may have to wait until tomorrow). Going to put on a pot of that curried squash soup. I got a couple movies and a book from the library. It's by Garth Stein "The Art of Racing in the Rain" - written in first person dog.

Marshy, I HEARD that sigh of relief when you got home! I thought it was gale force wind ove here :H BRAVO!!!

Everybody sounds so up and happy! Weee! AF DOES ROCK!!!!
