Hi Lav - you're a trooper getting the thread started so often!

I'm also very glad to see Cowgal has improved and hope to hear more good news. It does make me wonder about some other people who disappear from here suddenly. Obviously Cowgal has contact with a lot of people outside the forum and that's why we know what's going on, but some other people seem to vanish without trace and without any warning and I wonder how they're doing.

Just arrived at work fresh from the hairdresser's. All spruced up and raring to go

      Hi Greenie!

      Have a sober day everyone!

I too have had cowgal in my thoughts constantly. I have been at the hospital 5 hours from my home with my sister who is pretty sick! She had emergency surgery for diverticilitis and getting worse. She has cushings disease which is complicating things. The doctor here wants her to go to Omaha but they decided to go to Mayo instead. Now we have to wait for the weather to clear so they can fly her. I certainly hope time doesn't run out for her! Last night as I tried to sleep on the loveseat in the waiting room I prayed and prayed for maryanne and my sister.

Most that vanish probably 'just' go back to drinking. I did after my first few days stint here. But I got back a couple of months after. Others may feel far enough from Al to move on and possibly think continuing to use unneeded support is maudlin.
I am blessed with love joy and sobriety.

Hi Lav and thank you for starting us off today. Your posts always have a wonderful "smile" to them no matter what the circumstances in your life or here. I really appreciate you for that!

Greenie I hope your day at the hole is almost over!

Marshy, I too wonder about the people who vanish without a trace both here and at AA. Given the nature of the beast, I suspect every story does not end happily. Maybe we should each consider sending a few other regular posters here at the AF Daily an "emergency contact number / e-mail" or something so as an example, if I didn't post for a week someone might e-mail or call my husband or something like that? I think some folks establish quite a bit of contact outside of the forum but I typically haven't done a whole lot of that. Maybe I'm the only one! Anyway... On a brigher note, I bet the new do is smashing! I always feel good with a fresh hair cut. And maybe when I'm older than 29 someday I'll get it colored too. :H I'll be getting a "trim" next week.

LVT I hope your sister is going to be OK!! I don't know what diverticilitis is but if they are flying her to Mayo then it's obviously very serious! How are YOU doing?? Are you back at your home or are you at the hospital? I will pray for your sister along with MA. Please keep us posted OK? :hugs:

Raven.joy, I know I didn't want to face anyone here when I relapsed. There is a saying I hear at AA a lot. "I know I have another drunk in me, but I don't know if I have another recovery in me." (Marshy, I know that use of the word "drunk" gives you a rash! :H) I hope that MA has another recovery in her, and I hope that for everyone who vanishes...

Good to see you back peace. I wondered where you went. Good that you are training for a 10K - that sounds like fun!! Thank you for the good advice in the :b&d: thread. I appreciate that and will take that to heart today. Still not feeling my normal mojo!

Don't have much to say today but wanted to come on in and touch the life line. I'm going to return to the land of the surreal - figure skating! Some sparklies should help me get my perky back.

Strength and hope to all. AL kills. Don't let AL kill you.

                Morning all!!!

LVT - that is awful for your sister and you. It is hard supporting family through alll of this stuff. The outcomes are so unknowable, and we end up organising our lives around them anyway. It is a good thing that you are doing ...... but take care of yourself as well okay?

DG - enjoy the figure skating!! The more bling the better (do you use that word???)

Peace -- good on you for the 10k training! I was going to try that out this summer, but too many other things going on. Yesterday I downloaded a 26 week training programme that I though I might put on my fridge and start training for next summer!!

I have a very self-indulgent day planned today. I was reading the tool-box thread (yet again) a couple of days ago and there is a metaphor in there about the Alien movie. (go check it out!!) Anyway, I reckoned we would probably have the movie in our DVD collection (as Mr B and son are sci-fi types) and lo and behold we did. Not just one but the whole quadrilogy :H:H And I woke up this morning feeling a bit flu--ey, the weather outside is complete crap, I'm home alone at the moment and I cleaned it within an inch of its life last night ...... so it is going to be a day under the duvet, watching as much of all 4 as I can cope with!!!
