    Apple Cider Vinegar

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if you remember me as I haven't posted in a long time. I hope everyone is well!

I've discovered the merits of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and just wanted to put it out there for anyone who is interested. I've been drinking it every day for 2 weeks and it has significantly cut down on my cravings and the 2 times I have attempted to drink some wine it has made me feel really yucky so I haven't overindulged (meaning 3 glasses and I'm ready for bed ... I'm sure some of you are thinking that's 3 glasses too much but for me its better than 3 bottles! ;-) )

To me it feels like its working in a similar way that Roberta describes Topamax working in her book (I tried Topamax and it REALLY didn't agree with me so I can't take it).

It HAS to be raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar -- usually on the label it will say something like "with the mother protein". I use Bragg's, which is where I found out about it (braggs.com). This means it has all the good stuff for your body in it. Its cloudy and tastes very apple-y. I've been drinking about 2 tsp in a glass of cold filtered water 2-3 times a day. I've also significantly cut down on my dairy & meat intake, and have been eating lots of veg, especially raw veg and beans. After a day or 2 of that I was craving the ACV and salad!

ACV is touted as something that cleans out your system and boosts your immunity among other things. I bought the ACV book from the Bragg website and they make many claims about what it does (note that the Bragg Family is a bit strange and the book is not very well written). They do NOT claim it helps with AL issues, this is just my own personal discovery ... but it is helping me so I thought maybe it might help others here!

    Cheers! :h:h:h

Hi spotty! Great to see you. I've read about apple cider vinegar and the benefits. I think it's wonderful that you are having good experience with it. BTW, if you put a splash in your dog's water it's supposed to help as a flea repellant.

                      Apple Cider Vinegar

I'm glad so many people already know about it! I have an aunt who's in her mid-60's and looks like she's in her mid-40's ... she takes it every day with 2 tsp of Bragg's amino acids (its similar to soy sauce, usually near the soy section in health food stores). She says she hasn't been sick for the entire 8 years she's been taking the 2. This was my original inspiration to try it, but as I said its helping me in other ways. I'm sleeping better, having less (eh hem) digestive issues, and all around feeling better. It reputedly also helps with weight loss, circulation, blood pressure and other fun things we get as we age.

                      Cheers!

Salad dressings, warm potato salad, spinach salad: yes I'm there! And the aminos are great in hummus and other bean purees (any time you'd use soy or tamari). And, I've been dehydrating yams into veg jerky for my dogs. Spray a bit of amino on 'em and dehydrate. The dogs luv 'em and they're healthy and cheap. I was paying $17 US for a bag that lasted 4 days, now I'm making my own and its great. Yams are about 75 cents a pound here.

Good to see you spotty! I have forever read the benefits of raw ACV and your thread is a good reminder to figure out ways to incorporate it into my diet.

Raven.joy, what ratios do you like for salad dressing? Do you add spices too? (I'm one of those types that needs very specific directions!)

Thanks for the tips on the ACV...I had forgotten about it, but now I will hurry out and purchase some! Certainly can't hurt, and most likely can help.

While you guys are talking about salad dressings, has anyone ever tried flavor infused olive oils? I purchased some this weekend with meyer lemon infused (it's actually quite a process to press they lemon with the oil, where some companys just add it to the oil). It tastes like heaven and you can even drizzle it over cheesecake! I also purchased a bottle of 18yr old balsamic vinegar! The pair tastes indescribable on salad. Now I'm making myself hungry.

Again Spotty, thanks for the informative thread!
