Anyway i have no idea what im doing awake at this time of night, its 3.30am!

Ash Wednesday has arrived - for lent i've decided to give up negative thoughts......

sorry Raven!! Wish my bloke could cook ..... he has many fine qualities, but cooking aint in there .... and I tend to extrapolate that to all men.

Mushroom soup was very delicious although I kept the cream out!

I like the sound of the march mushroom madness project too! Lav - feel proud of your achievement in starting the world-wide mushroom wagon!!

          FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Happy Ash Wednesday Humpday everyone - Lav whats it like living in the mushroom capital of the world?
Are there mushrooms everywhere? Mushroom gifts for visitors to send back home to the family? Can you buy mushroom shaped soft toys? Postcards of mushrooms?
The mind absolutely boggles! I bet its wonderful though - unless of course you don't like mushrooms :H
On a more serious note what's the weather like? Its cold and damp here - the sort of cold that gets right into your bones (if it can penetrate the avoir dupois that is :H)
I'm off to the next village for a mooch - we get a free bus on humpdays and fridays so I like to support it when I can. I might even buy some mushrooms
Have a fantabalicious day one and all

            FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

            Morning to all,
Shelly, thanks for sharing your gift story....I understand that using that soap would bring up resentment. Whew.

Dill, glad your back at it.

Lavanade, the mushroom soup recipe looks great. I'll try it this weekend too.

Worried about my job, we are having a meeting later this week for more layoffs, cuts, etc. I am tired of living in fear. What a time to live in.

No cravings though. The thought of alcohol makes me ill today.

For Lent I was going to give up chocolate and booze but instead like chills idea to give up negative thoughts. I want to give up fear.

. . . no one who learns to know himself remains just what he was before---Thomas Mann
Deep inside, we all know that we're changing. It started when we took Step One. We learned and accepted something new about ourselves. That changed us, just a little. We no longer wanted to live as addicts. That meant we had to change and to learn to live sober. It's been nonstop ever since: learn about ourselves, change a little, learn about ourselves, change a little more, and so on. All we know is that each step of learning and changing makes life better. How long can it keep getting better? As long as we keep learning to know ourselves.
              From the Daily Recovery Readings

Greetings all! Happy Humpday! I wish I was riding along with you on your free bus ride, Soots! Will Sweep be along or do you go solo?

Hello Lil!!! Good to see you traveller. I think if you have any way to do it, you should stay longer in sunny Florida. It's still snowing here! We got 7 more inches yesterday. It's crazy white out there!! My school was closed yesterday, but today it's opening two hours late, so after Mr. D gets the driveway plowed, which is no easy feat, I'll be on my way.

Miss B, it may be a blessing that your Mr. B does not cook. Mr. Dill likes to once in awhile and 'though the food is delicious.....I find the clean up a bit daunting!:H

Chill and Red, I think giving up negative thoughts for Lent is an excellent choice. It is not done without effort, and it is for the betterment your worlds and the world at large. Good thinking! I am going to concentrate on giving up alcohol, as that is still not effortless, and putting it in the spiritual framework of sacrifice is a help to me. I am going to redouble my efforts to help my struggling friend who has issues with al and confides only in me about it. I have managed to get her to go to a good counsellor and am proud of her for taking that huge step.

Lode, I could feel your struggle in your words. You are to be congratulated for your triumph yesterday. Each day AF and NF "is a victory!"

Lav, Sped, LBH, you'll be along soon. Have a good one!

Anybody seen Cyntree? I was hoping she'd be posting after the Valentine's Ball event passed.
              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                Morning Feb friends,

Happy to report the sun is out this morning
Temps to stay right at freezing today but predicted to go higher tomorrow. Hoping for some serious melting kids!!

Dill, you did get more snow yesterday than we did. Hope you can get out safely today

Sooty - the almighty mushroom rules around here - no kidding! The Mushroom Festival in September draws big crowds. The town of Kennett Square goes nuts I think everyone should plan a field trip to come here in September & join in the mushroom madness!!!!

Red, giving up fear sounds like a superb idea! I'll keep the chocolate..........because I'm bad.

Greetings to Lode, Shelley, LBH & everyone.
Lets all have a wonderful AF Ash Wednesday Humpday!

                  FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

It has been fun to catch up with your posts this morning. The global mushroom soup brigade was a particular treat, and your mushroom world, Lav, has me thinking of big, chatty Walt Disney ones. Another treat was the appearance of Raven. Thank you for complimenting my rose, ?his? name is Graham Thomas and he lives in the rose kibbutz in my front yard. Please stay around, Raven, this thread has an new incarnation every month. It was good to hear from you, Lil, from sunny Florida, you have so many of us wanting to be you right now. Our Sooty has her sturdy vehicle of the day weighed down with us on its plunge toward equatorial anywhere. And welcome home, Miss B., your situation away was exactly of the nature that I very likely also do not as yet have the skills to manage sober. I hope you enjoy getting back to the routine of building strength and health. Speaking of such things, you are sounding like you are really embracing and enjoying sobriety, Chill. Hello Red and Dill and Shelley, may we also be well and happy today. Today should be a good one for me as I attempt to jump the gun on all sorts of things. For one thing, I am going to find a sunbeam and dig some finished kitchen compost from my bin into the hopefully not too frozen top soil of my raised veggie beds. A non smoking Lode has been planted and will emerge. I am with you, Red, fear is the worst thing to hang onto. It impedes rational responding, it adds nothing helpful to the situations we are in, it is not relevant. Fear hems us in. I shall join you in making a conscious effort to let it go, redirect it, make peace with what is behind it. Love, Ladybird.
                  may we be well

                      FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Raven - wednesday is known as "humpday" as its the middle hump of the week.... i think!?

Talking of Alice in Wonderland how about this for a great quote:-

The Red Queen says to Alice: “Tell me what you did tomorrow” and Alice says: “Tell you what I did tomorrow, I can’t tell you what I did tomorrow.” Then the Queen says: “Why not, can’t you remember?” Alice says: “Can’t I remember? I can’t remember what I did tomorrow, it hasn’t happened yet.” The Queen looks at her and she says: “It’s a pretty poor memory that only works in one direction.”

I suffered from to much MSG in my chinese food last night, not only did it keep me awake but i felt the similar signs of a slight hangover this morning.... a good reminder why i want to stay healthy.....

Ah ha Raven I see you like me are in the UK - I struggled with the notion of humpday too and it caused much frivolity for a little while.
It seems to be an American term for wednesday - getting over the hump of the week, downhill towards the weekend (hope I've got that right or I'll be in big trouble) and nothing rude at all. I was very disappointed when I found out :H
Good to have you on board - as the self appointed driver of the sober bus I get to chose where we're going (with a little help from my friends) and we're on the way to warmer climes at the moment. You are welcome to pick a destination, chose the music etc. its a very democratic bus!
I'm off to dance exercise class now - see you all later I hope

                          FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Sorry, Raven, ?hump day? for the US just means the middle of the traditional five day workweek. Monday it is an uphill climb and after today the end is in sight and as such it is downhill (in the good sense) toward the break of the weekend. We are descended from Puritans and it is a WORK term. ?Rooting? doesn?t not mean the same thing here either; we are a driven lot. Hi, Chill, I think we are more sensitive to things that used to be overwhelmed by the effects of alcohol, trust you will feel better very soon. Love, Ladybird.
                          may we be well

                            Raven,

Here in the US Wednesday is called 'Humpday' day - it marks getting over the middle (hump) of the 5 day work week!

I happen to live near Kennett Square, PA lovingly known as the 'Mushroom Capital of the World'. I buy fresh mushrooms directly from the growers very inexpensively. Here's a link:

I'm getting ready for my regular Wednesday afternoon babysitting marathon - my 15 month old grandson keeps me on my toes :H

Lav-I just had to jump in here....my son is the grandson of a famous mushroom farmer (if you get the Daily Local - he was featured in there last week) and I worked at the mushroom company for 10 years! That being said, my son hates mushrooms - I am the only one in my house who loves them. I think I will make that yummy soup and just treat myself. Thanks for sharing!! Have fun with your grandson!

                              K.

Thanks for the link Lav - I had a good look round Kennett Square and visited the Mushroom Cap - and they do sell mushroom gifts
It all looks very lovely and the shops look enticing - wish I could have a "real" look round!
Well I've been off to the dance class - we were doing something from High School Musical - I said what???? I've never seen or heard anything from HSM - I thought we'd be doing something a little older ....Saturday Night Fever is still new to me so I got all mixed up and ended up facing the back when everyone else was facing the front ... but the teacher was very kind and said it would all make sense next week!
Shattered now so going to make a drink and crawl up to bed with my book - I hope humpday has been full of fun and fungii for all of us
