    FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Yay, it is Friday here and I am really ready for it!!

Have my plans in place for the weekend .... picking up some foster kittens from the SPCA at the top of the list. Then it is home for a DVD and the rest of the weekend will be spent swimming, walking and reading a book called "Care of the Soul" which I started a couple of weeks ago and haven't finished. The more AF time I have the more I find the need for some sort of spirituality, and I find that all a bit problematic as an ex- Catholic :H

It is my last weekend on my own as Mr B will be coming back from doing his overseas contract next weekend. I've missed him dreadfully, but have also really valued the space and time away from the normally busy life we have.

Chillgirl - rational recovery is great. I found it very empowering. In fact I think I'll re-read some bits of it this weekend as well!

    Shelley - what a day!!

Hope everyone else has a god Friday when you get to it!!
Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

      FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

      Hi All,
Im new here and also doing Feb Fast. I cant believe how fast the month has gone and goes to show you can do anything if you want it badly enough. Needless to say this the first time in 7 years i have gone 19 days without AL. I feel proud, greatful and really positive.
My weekend consists of helping a girlfriend move, going to the gym, reading also might investigate the Rational Recovery i have heard good things about it! and may squeeze in a massage at some stage.
I feel like a child again learning new ways in my life...but i am greatful that i can remember the night before. The first thought that comes into my head as soon as i open my eyes in the morning is YES another day AF.
I feel blessed on this journey.
      Have a great AF Friday.
Thanks for your support and encouragement:l

            FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

            Overittoday - Welcome aboard!
:goodjob: on 19 days AF thats fantastic..... Well done on planning out your weekend its so important to keep busy to avoid any of the usual triggers.

I have just reached 7 weeks AF and still love the novelty of waking up every morning hangover free, my 1st thoughts used to be "how bad do i feel? How much can I remember about the night before" now I stretch out, smile and give thanks for another hangover free day..... I still struggle on friday nights which were my big weekly nights out but this week Im determined to handle it differently with my "No Negative Thoughts for Lent"

Dill - I just saw your earlier post about my quote, I dont know which one you mean Im a real quotaholic, I have a thread under General Discussion called "Quotes for Today" and you might find it there.

Raven - You are not by any chance referring to the Mushrooms of the Magic varierty are you?!! I do recall some of these from my miss spent youth!

Sooty im in your time zone and off to bed as well...... Goodnight Febbers

Chill, I found the quote and it was on a post by Meech in the Just Starting Out section. I don't know why I thought it was one of your posts. Sorry. Anyway, I thought it was a good quote, to be sure!

                      FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Early morning and it is all good.

I have a job, we did get a pay cut and cut in benefits. It was very sad, but no more people laid off so that is good. The problem is that we don't get paid all that much as we are a nonprofit, and none of our other bills have gone down. But I was so greatly relieved. Not as bad as I thought, not as good as I hoped.

Had a big temptation last night....the insanity thinking. I was in the store and looking at both chocolate and wine. Then it hit me, this is Lent and I walked out the door. What was I thinking? It was witching hour and I was hungry and at my low point. I am so glad I did not cave. And it is Friday. This week has gone very fast.

Cyn, it is great to have you back. Look forward to reading more of your posts.

Lode, it is hard to quit smoking but so great to have that monkey off your back. I wonder how much money you will be saving in a year without the cost of cigarettes?

Dill, love that quote about it being easier to get through the witching hour than a day of hangover. So true. I really treasure my sleep too. When I drink, I never sleep well and it is truly hell. I know I am focusing on how much I love my restful, tranquil nights of peaceful sleep.

overittoday, you are doing fantastic. It really is a lifechanging experience AF after years of using a substance to numb out, have fun, out of habit, to cope, or whatever reason.

Normally at this time of year I have skin problems, swollen eyes, eczema on my hands. This year, with minimal alcohol and focus on health, my skin is healthy. That has to be a good sign.

Lav, you and your mushrooms. I love them too, in soup, in eggs, in pasta, on their own. What are those really expensive one...morrells or something. They are delicious and grow around here in the spring. Cooked in butter they are considered a delicacy at $25 dollars a pound.

Will try to check in later. Have a great AF Friday and plan your time. I am working on it.:h

                        FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

I nearly caved yesterday, too, Red. Then I remembered it was Lent and I could make a sacrifice and it wouldn't kill me! The spiritual component is helping. I am glad your meeting at work was not as bad as you thought. When the economy turns around, so will your salary but in the meantime, at least you still have an income.

Miss B, I am a recovering Catholic. I fell away from all of it for nearly 40 years! As part of my effort at sobriety I have been trying everything and that included returning to my religious roots. It was a very emotional experience. I felt a connection with my past and my family, many of whom are gone now. I seek spirituality in other ways, as well. I try meditation and I've read Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now and A New Earth. Those were both very helpful to me. (Best on audio, though)

Have a great AF day, all!

                          FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

                          Good morning friends!

The sun just popped out & I'm grateful to see it. Another day of serious snow melting is in store!

Red, glad to read your job is safe, that's quite a relief! I think with all the $$ we are not wasting on AL we should indulge ourselves a little - mushrooms, caviar (yuck), whatever floats your boat I am focused on trying to reduce general, overall calorie intake this month......I don't seem to be getting any smaller these days!!!

Dill, glad you stayed on the sober bus last night! Lent is the time for prayer, fasting & abstinence. If it helped keep you out of the wine store then good! One of the best tools to help keep me AF is coming to MWO at least twice/day - everyday! I've been doing this for one year now & has helped me stay focused.

Greetings to all the February friends - I will, most definitely be back later
                          Have a great AF Friday!

Hello FFs a bit late logging on today as I went straight off to town this morning and haven't long been home.
Lav I do hope the sun does its stuff and you get rid of some of that snow.
Its cold and bright here but none of the white stuff.
I like you need to log on here morning (or as close as I can ) and evening just to connect with you all and focus on the job in hand.
I'll be back later to wish you all goodnight - I won't be around until evening tomorrow as I'm off to a city about 70 miles away to watch my daughter who is coming with her university team to take part in a cheerleading competition! How groovy is that?
See you all later though - have a good Friday

super groovy, you must be mega proud.

Hey Lav, nice fungal pics. There is a mushroom called jews ear that grows all year in UK even now mainly on dead elder, maybe you have it Us too. Plenty to pick near us despite snow. I know they can be a bit jelly if cooked bad but can me yum with the right treatment.

Well done all not caving in and how we all deserve the better life that choice means.

Its been a long and stressy week with work and kids but nice to get home for a nice family weekend. Love you all lots.
I am blessed with love joy and sobriety.
