    FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Sooty - This is early to bed! Im guessing you are not an Eastenders fan? Sadly I am and had to see the whodunnit tonight!

Im loving my friday night in, determined not to have any negative thought re my previous life...
Dill thank you for reminding us of this great quote from Stirly, it is perfect for fridays!

It takes much less effort to get through "the witching hour" than it does to get through a whole day with a hangover." - Stirlygirl urgirl:

      FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Greetings. I am been buried in the garden and a bit out of touch but the cold wind and clouds started rolling in again today so the window is closing. I am happy to report that the early daffodils are two inches high as are the fat blue hyacinths and the leaves of the hardy amaryllis. Spring is sneaking into my life which is good because I have being beating off the blues with a stick lately. I am making a nice easy almond/orange soup which might interest you if you are looking for something different. Chop and saute an onion (a small amount of butter is traditional but feel free to make it your own with your favorite oil or a blend of the two) until lightly caramelized, add two or three fat cloves of garlic, 1/2 t chopped fresh ginger, hot ground red pepper of your choice to taste (I used an African one), and continue cooking until fragrant. Deglaze the pan (a splash of expensive nutty Spanish sherry is traditional and fantastic, but one can use a little orange juice and a touch of honey). Add a cup and a half of fresh squeezed orange juice and about the same amount of water and bring to a simmer. Add 2 T of roasted ground almonds (almond butter works great and is a lot easier) and salt to taste. Blend until very smooth. Reheat and garnish with sliced almonds, a bit of orange zest, and lime. Yum. Love to everybody, Ladybird.
      may we be well

        FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

        Evening friends,

Ms Sooty - hope you enjoy your Saturday, looking forward to hearing all about it

Raven, I don't quite have the nerve to search for wild mushrooms on my own. Afraid I'll eat something that is not supposed to be eaten........enjoy your mushroom finds!!! Hope your weekend is a relaxing one

Chill, I'm profoundly jealous that you get to watch Eastenders..........I was so hooked on that show until PBS decided we didn't need to see it anymore - boo hoo! Hope you have a great weekend too!

LBH, two inch daffodils?? Are they green?? All I can see is white, white, white!! Someday when all this snow melts I will go look for my daffodils & early tulips! Your soup sounds delicious - I'll save your recipe for a time when my daughter can be here to enjoy it with me (cause I know Mr Lav wouldn't).

        Wishing everyone a peaceful night!

Dear everyone - hope all had a good AF Friday, sounds like you were planning well in advance. Red - so glad that the job news was not all bad, and p.s., way to go for working AF with your husband. Miss B, and Over - how did your Fridays go? Miss B you must be well into Saturday by now. Sooty, have fun with the cheerleaders - - ah, youth. Chill, thanks for the link to your quotes page! Dill & Red, congrats on beating the cravy voices -- good for you for treating yourselves right. Lav - hoping you'll see green shoots soon. Sky - sorry about not greeting you yesterday - hello now! Ladybirdheart - I need your stick - - the blues have settled into my breastbone, and I can't seem to chase them away. But your soup might just do it - thanks so much for the recipe. And Raven - thanks for your comment "Well done all not caving in and how we all deserve the better life that choice means." What a wonderful thought to ponder - that we really deserve a life free from the bondage of alcohol. Sweet dreams, all.

"Turn your troubles into treasures. Learn from them and grow from them." --Mark Victor Hansen

            Greetings Fabbers!

LBH and Cyn, I have a "blues blower" and I'm headed your way with it! It is kinder and gentler than the stick method and easier on your hearts! Just close your eyes and feel the gentle intermittent breeze coming over you as if it is coming off an ocean. Hear the gulls and taste the sea air. You will feel better.

The almond soup recipe will be tucked away for future delight. Today we make mushroom soup!

Lav, the weather man is calling for rain around here today. That should make "snow soup"!

Lil, Red, Sky, Miss B., Soots, Raven, Chill, Lode, Sped, everyone, have a sweet AF day.
            Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

              Morning friends,

Dill - yummmmm mushroom soup! I could make some everyday.........
We are going to have a huge mud event if we get a lot of rain Monday - the ground is pretty well saturated now.

I have no idea what I going to do today, no plans so far. I'm sure I'll find something

Hey kids, try using the Clearing CD to help chase the blues away - I love that thing!!!

              I'll be back later.

                    FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Looks like I'll be making the mushroom soup tomorrow instead of today. We chose to go to the Boat Show at the Airport Expo. That was fun looking at all those boats and dreaming about summer! Of course, while out, we ate, so I'm not interested in cooking just now.

Lav, that mushroom barley soup sounds marvelous, as does your tomato/basil, Raven!

                          FEB FAST ~ WEEK THREE

Just stopping by to check in. Am having a lazy day, reading, hanging out, talking on the phone. I made more parsnip soup, I am hooked! I forgot about the mushroom soup, maybe tomorrow. LBH, your soup sounds wonderful too. Where do you get almond butter?

Dill, we have a boat show around here to and may go tomorrow. Sounds fun.

IT's true about thinking you have fun when you're drinking, and not being able to remember it. What a way to live. I can say that as I have done it so many times I can't count.

I love being AF, it is really working for me. I washed the sheets, fresh pajamas and plan to take a long leisurely bath later this evening. True luxury. Then a restful night's sleep. It is the little things that make life so great, the things we throw away when we choose to drink.

                          I vote for AF.

Red - Im just heading off to bed with my book, a luxury I never had in my previous life.... never sober enough to focus by bedtime.

I love that you are reminding yourself of the many great things about being AF. We should make it a daily ritual so we never forget to come up with at least 3 things that are wonderful about it:-

                            1. (As you say) Fresh sheets that you can remember getting into after that luxurious soak in the bath.:bath:
                            2. Once in that cosy clean bed, enjoying a good book.
                            3. (Still my favorite!) Waking up in the morning without a hangover!!!

                            I vote AF too!

Hey guys, I used to make barley wine in the bad old days. I knew it was key thing in beer and whiskey.
So pleasant to see it as a food thing to nurture not intoxicate. This seems to be the food thread! I am sure you will be cooking soon Dill.x

Lady joy and I had lovely night out at a swingers club last night, went home with a really nice couple of our age but they only had two kids both grown up and left home, so we got to play.

My parents coming over today so we are doing nut roast with all vegan trimmings, cranberry and chilli sauce, spinach from garden etc. They will all be on the wine and they will all be ok with that. Not me I don't want to turn into a crazy fool. x
