Morning,
So sorry Dill. Teaching, especially during these times is so stressful.

I am sitting in the lobby of the Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon. The lobby is the nearest source of coffee and high speed internet. When the sun comes up, I'm going to hike part way down the canyon. The canyon is beautiful but the scene at the national park headquarters is equally interesting. Lots of Germans and lots of Japanese school girls wearing short plaid skirts and white knee socks. And alcohol is everywhere. I was in the hotel gift shop last night and all of a sudden realized that most of the people around me were holding glasses of wine or martinis!

Lav, have a good time in Atlantic City. IAD, I loved the penguins. Cyn, I'm in your state! Chill, congrats on 70 days.
Eveybody have a good Friday. I'm going hunting for something to eat.

Red - Glad you have a weekend plan but as far as these drinkers are concerned, please dump that thought "what the heck, go for it" and replace it with "I want to feel good about myself and by drinking AL I sabotage this so what the heck I will just say no!"

Sped - Sounds just wonderful where you are! I'd love to hike in the Grand Canyon. Just remember how good it feels to do without the aftermath of wine or martinis from last night.

Dill - By feeling guilt we are inviting turmoil into our lives, release that guilt, forgive yourself and vow to avoid the conduct that lead to the guilt. Guilt is nothing but a waste of mental energy. Everything that you have done is in the past, its over, using up our present moments by feeling bad is keeping us from being fully alive right now.....

Hi Marchers. We had a very pretty, light snow yesterday which was gone by the afternoon and everything looks fresh and happy. I keep bringing more daffodils in from the small cutting garden and I am pleased to report that sweet Buran Peppers, Amish Salad Tomatoes, Pintung and Rosa Bianca Eggplants have joined the rest of the troops by sprouting in the seedbed. All of the little pots have tenants. It is really good hear from dear you, Cyn, and thanks for letting me vicariously participate in the Grand Canyon, Shelley, that place leaves me speechless. Hope you check in soon Lode, I am thinking about you and wishing you peace in your heart. I also hope things settle for you at work soon, Dill, there are a few issues that I still don?t have the skills for but we both have come so far. I am not sure when I will able to read after Sunday as the written instructions that I have so far are worst case restrictive (up to two weeks????), but the surgeon is cool and will have the option of modifying them on Tuesday. Goodness, I want to this over with. Hi Mario, IAD, Rusty, Chill (good going!), Lav, Sooty, Lil, Red, Overit, Sky, Raven and anybody else coming through. Love, Ladybird.

Dill, the stress in the school system in out of control. I know a few school employees and they look like they may be laid off, too. It is a scary time. Sorry to hear about the relapse, hope you recover quickly.

LBH, positive thoughts and prayers are sent out to you. May every hand that touches you be a healing hand and may everyone around you send out healing energy. You are in my prayers.

I have had a fantastic afternoon. Left work early, cleaned the entire house, finsihing up sheets and towels, and paid some bills. I am taking care of business. It is amazing what I can get done AF.

Spring is in the air, I just watched a few geese walking in my backyard. They are such interesting creatures. My cats are hissing at them.

Just returnned from my trek to Alantic City. Rain & wind, not a nice drive today. The tradeshow was good, Lost a few $$ in the Borgata Casino & pigged out at the dinner buffet
Chill, there are a couple of different tradeshows for embroidery & screen printing that travel around the country each year - not sure which one Deter was referring to.

Dill, keep your head up! No matter what's going on in your life, drinking will not make it any better.
I was surrounded by smokers & drinkers in the casino today & wasn't bothered by them. I actually felt disconnected from all that, was happy that I didn't feel any need to partake.

LBH, I'm thinking about you.........you are going to do just fine next week I hope you have a plant sitter ready to look after your seedlings!

Yes, my daffodil & early tulips have finally made an appearance - Spring is coming afterall

Sped - OMG, I just about jumped in my car to go up to meet you at the Grand Canyon when I read that you were in the state!! Definitely a weird scene at the Park when you look at the onlookers. But such a place of grace when you just focus on the Canyon itself. Can you hear the silence? That is the thing that impresses me the most about it all - the sense that there is something that can absorb unnecessary sound and make it potent in silence. I'm thrilled that you are there - have a great hike wherever you decide to go....Shall we all plan to meet here when we've toured the mushroom capital? I would love to host you all ----

Just a quick check in as I am rushing off to my daughters hockey match.

Went to the confirmation yesterday and I didnt drink. As somebody else just said I felt disconnected, first time that has happened to me!! So glad I didnt, feels great to be AF this morning.

I spend until the "wee small hours" chatting to my friend on another continent so was a bit sleepy this morning but the sun in out and im going to get the bike out the shed and head off for a cycle in the countryside.......

Doing much better here today. Thanks for all your encouragements. This thread just keeps perking along and pulling me with it! Thanks Chill for the picture of the bird on your sill. How I would love to have seen that in person!
Sped, thanks for the view of the Canyon. I paused for a moment and really tried to visualize being there. I've never been to the Grand Canyon, I'm sad to say. It is a future goal for me.
LBH, you are in my thoughts and prayers. The surgery will soon be behind you and what a relief that will be! You are having surgery on just one eye, correct? Will you have a patch over it for awhile?
Lav and Rusty, great to hear of your moments of feeling disconnected from the drinking scene. That's a good thing, indeed!
