Just when you thought it was safe...ABBERCIZERS ARE BACK! (for April anyway..)

    :b&d:

OK. I need to get 8 pounds off my ass by summer. So it's time to get busy! How 'bout it? Anyone up for some abbercizing?

I've been back at Curves for a little over a week now and that is good. I still need to tighten up my eating though - I'm still a bit hit and miss there. I'm reading Primal Blueprint which is just more on moderate carbs / no processed stuff and grains and sugar, etc. Meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, eggs, organic, wholesome goodness. You know the drill.

    So....goals for this week:

    5X Curves workouts.
    1800 Cals per day, 50 - 100gCarbs per day.

    :b&d: What's YOUR plan?

    Sobriety Date = 5/22/08
    Nicotine Free Date = 2/27/07

1800 calories. Sounds hungry to me. I would always choose more exercise over cutting calories. It feels so punitive especially since I stopped drinking.

My goal for the week: run 13 miles on Thursday. My last long run before a half marathon on the 18th.

Another goal: attempt to not eat refined sugar, (sounds pretty weak)

        Hey, I am in!
My plan (after being an absolutely disgusting chocoholic over Easter), is to cut back again on sugar.
        Go for 3 - 40min plus runs a week.
Continue to take my trusty aminos (to help me stay low carb) and eat more veges, fruit, good protein etc. And of course, drink loadsa water!
And keep a watchful eye on my caffiene intake!

Wow! Everything is relative -- 1800 calories for me is a dream! I am low thyroid and try to keep it around 1500 a day...

I read that if you are female and middle-aged 1 hour of exercise 5 days of week is essential to keeping off the pounds.

My plan? I am now on Day 10 and having eliminating a ridiculous wine habit (sometimes 2 bottles a day) I've already lost 3 pounds.

Exercise will be walking. I am trying not to jump in too strong because I've made that mistake and ended up going back to my old habits (wine, couch, TV, snacks)

But, I'm in for April ladies. I am so out of shape that I need to do this first and then think about some weight training...

Have a great day all! lt:l

I'm in. I am following the South Beach Diet, which is three phases. I am in phase two, mostly veggies, low fat meat, and low fat dairy with some whole grains, and some fruits. I lost seven pounds in two weeks and feel energetic and healthy.

I need to walk, and with this warmer weather, will start. I also have exercise stuff downstairs that I will use. My goal: exercise three times a week. Change is hard for me.

:b&d: HELLO ABBERCICERS!! (resisting temptation to say Abber Flabbers or something like that! Just think of all the exercise I would get then - running away from you guys who would be chasing me with sticks or something!...but I digress......)

NO FAT GYCO!!!!!!! So get your butt in gear with the rest of us OK?

Tuesday: Curves workout - CHECK. Clean eating - CHECK. (Monday the workout was good but the eating was not. Sugar sugar sugar.)

Wednesday: Curves workout - CHECK. Clean eating - CHECK (so far and I have no plans to blow it now)

Wow DG, you are doing really well! Tuesday and Wednesday - working out both days....

Did a 43 min run on Tuesday. I want to build up to an hour 3 times a week. Don't have to worry too much about weight, but would love to see some toning benefits. My behind and my arms. I want some 'lift' in both areas :H My bum used to be such a perky thing....what happened
Anyhow. Will go for a run this pm and make it a 40+ one. Have to start incorporating some weights/exercises for the 'bits' I want to give a lift to.

Have a great Abby Fabby day everyone!

:H Amelia! Maybe our Abbercizer Thread Title next month should be "The Never Ending Quest for the Perky Derriere!" (will have to check the spelling of derriere...)

If only I KNEW what sort of exercises to do?? I have some extra strong gaffa tape that I might stick under each side of the derriere....give both a big tug.....and stick the other ends up and over my shoulders...THAT should increase the perkiness!

Serioiusly. Apart from running (another 35mins yesterday), I am going to have to sort something out for the general toning (and 'up'-keep) of the rest of my bod.

Any ideas for the backside? Lunges are about the only exercise I can think of.

How are you getting on with your workouts?

                            Hello All,

Funny, I've been reading "Primal Blueprint" too and another book by Michael Pollan, author of Ominvore's Dilemma called "Food Rules." It is a simple but profound book that gets us back to the periphery of the grocery store and eating the basics. I have sworn off sugar and starch for over 2 months now and aside from feeling great, I have also lost over 15 lbs.

I am in a bit of a transitional place as far as exercise goes. I find myself less and less attracted to running and more to yoga--I'm taking about 4 - 5 yoga classes per week and still doing my bootcamp but not as much. I'm even contemplating getting my teacher's certification but we will see where that leads. I want to make sure that this is something I truly want vs. my addictive self who wants "more, more, more" of everything!

Anyway, happy to see that monthly Abbercisers is back.

PS. Yes, my ass used to be rather round and perky too...now it's well....missing in action. Amelila, lunges are great. So are squats, stairmasters, and step classes.
