AF Daily - Thursday April 8

    Happy Thursday Ab Fabbers,

Another HOT day in the neighborhood today but storms are promised tonight! We did break the weather record yesterday ~ too much, too soon for me!

Have to get to work, no time to play this morning but I do wish everyone a terrific AF Thursday

    Morning abbers!!

Lav we are getting the same t-storms. I gotta hurry up and mow the tundra. I got the new mower going last night. Wow, I really like it! I did have to call the help line and this woman and I were both looking at the manual and ended up laughing so hard on the phone! Blind leading the blind. :H Bad news on the chainsaw. Leaking lots of oil. :upset:

Raven, I completely understand your feelings of accomplishment over a sober sexy weekend! Well, within the confines of my imagination, anyway . I'm thrilled for you that you were able to enjoy and remember having moved on from blind drunk ones.

If I remember correctly raven, you are vegan. I'm looking for a powdered or jar vegetable concentrate to mix with water for broth but with low sodium. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be vegan, but I imagine it would be anyway.

You know how we marvel at things we are doing sober that we used to do drinking? And some things you have to sort of learn to do sober or experience them a few times without equating the activity with drinking. I think mowing the grass is the only thing so far I have no drinking experience with. Sounds sort of pitiful, but at least there IS one!

Enjoy a novel sober experience today if you can. Oh wait. Hang gliding. YAY 2 things!

Hey Greenie. Most of the veggie stock options do have lots of salt its true. There are some low salt/sodium stock products around, but I live in UK. My favourites are natex low salt and essential yeast extract low salt. They are both Marmite like spreads that can be used as stock also. I don't know if they sell in US. At the moment the wild garlic leaves are up in the woods near me and I am using it for soups lots, it has a natural saltiness so none needs adding. I whizz it thick. If any is left over I use it as extra stock in curries/pasta sauces etc.
Sounds like the weather is good for you Lav. Nothing like a storm to give the land that magic shimmer the next day!

Swimming! I never did that drunk. But I was so busy drinking all those years that I just didn't go swimming and only remembered how much I love it when I sobered up.

Did a few lengths in the lido on the way in to work. So nice to swim in the open air! And sunny this morning too, although still a bit chilly.

Lav - what happened to spring? You seem to have gone from snow to heatwave in a couple of weeks.

DG - sorry to hear about your friend but at least you can be present to help her out if she needs it.

Greenie - I'm sure Raven.joy has more experience than me (ahem) but I use this stuff. Gawd knows if you can get it over there. http://www.marigoldhealthfoods.com/

        Welcome Cyntree!

Good morning Abbie Fabbies! Lav, thanks for getting us started today. I just can't imagine 90's in April! I was watching a program over the weekend on the History Channel. It was about the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 and also prophets over the years who have predicted the end of things as we know it around that time. And they talked about how in recent years "Mother Nature" seems to be heating things up (not global warming!) - more earthquakes, more hurricanes, more extremes and turbulence it seems. I have no idea what I think of all that. But I will say that I enjoyed that History Channel program a lot more than I did the movie 2012. How's that for some off topic rambling??? :nutso:

Greenie and Raven, that is such a good topic - doing things sober that we used to do drunk. And surviving it. And getting over ourselves with it. I think that's one big advantage to getting some AF time under our belts. We start accumulating sober experiences to offset the old drunk experiences. Geez - at first, I couldn't get through an hour without having to do something sober that I used to do drunk. I drank through absolutely everything!

I'm really grateful that today I've gotten used to doing the mundane repetitive stuff of day to day living SOBER. So now I don't think about having a drink in my hand all the time. Now what I want to do is practice sitting on beaches and next to pools and on decks of cruise ships sober.

Marshy, I drunk swam many times. In the Gulf of Mexico. One time I swam completely blotto off Paradise Island in a cove where there were permanent signs warning about the under tow. I nearly drowned. I knew how to solve THAT problem though. Have another drink and forget about it. Literally. I'm lucky I didn't drown in my own pool when I lived in FL. That lido think sounds awesome by the way!

Thanks again to everyone for your kind thoughts and also suggested information for Sister. I will be trying to put some positive things in her hands! I spoke with her this morning and she thanks you all for your prayers. She is determined to take things one day at a time and enjoy life. We had an interesting talk about how none of us EVER knows when our time is coming. She has breast cancer, but I could walk out of my house today and get run over by a bus. We all just need to make the most of each day we have.

I am grateful I am sober today, which will allow me to make the most of my day! Hope you all are having a good AF day too.

DG I saw that history chanel program. Fascinating wasn't it! The Myan calendar ends on Dec 21,20012. Lots of chatter about the year 2012. Colin Tipping is working towards his life's purpose with that time in mind to help mankind with the shift.

Raven, is the garlic thing what one would call "ramps"? Thanks for the ideas on veg concentrate & marshy too. I gottt go mow before I look at that. The rain, she come soon!

Yes. It has many local names. I think wild garlic comes from Latin but in plants books it's real name is ramsins. I wait till the flower comes up at the end of season then pick them dip them in light gram flour batter and deep fry them. It is amazing, like garlic flower pakoras.

                  Hi guys,

                  Late check in here.

so today I finally went and talked with my doctor. I asked for antibuse but guess what! It's discontinued in Ontario - pisser. she gave me a script for campral - I am willing to try anything so I don't go back to that dark place again.

Hope you all have an AB FAB day!

Good on you for talking to your MD, uni!! I have to say, that takes some kinda courage. I hope the campral gives you what you are wanting from it.

I am so worn out from mowing the tundra I may fall out before dark.
