AF Daily - Saturday April 17

Good morning one and all! I'm grateful to be unhung this morning and looking forward to an AF day. The Mary Kay Way. At the eye lash curling seminar! :H I'm hoping to discover the secret to staying 29 forever. Then when I know that secret, you can all pay me five dollars to find out.

I was thinking last night and this morning about how different it is to get ready for an event sober. I packed up my stuff to bring last night. In the old days, I would have botched that up by being shit faced and had to re-check / re-do the whole thing this morning. Or worse, I would have said to self "self, let's just get up earlier and pack.." And of course that would have gone badly due to the hangover.

    This is SO much better!

Deter I am sorry you are having a rough patch. I somehow missed what was going on. Hello to everyone and I hope you are having a fab ab Saturday!

Morning DG. Don't poke anyone's eye out!

And there was the other bit of "preparation" - as in "I'll just have a drink before I leave"...
I was listening to a radio phone-in yesterday and some guy called in and mentioned that it was his 50th birthday and he was having a glass of whisky to celebrate. It was before 10am. The host made some joke about it being a bit early and he said "well, it's my birthday and I'm going to see my mother so I need it". And I recognised that thinking as clear as day. So glad I'm no longer having to justify morning drinking - or any drinking.

I'm working but then off until Wednesday. :muahaha:

    Have a good day all.

      Hi Doggy and Marshy,
Yes I am with you on the organisational front.
I now find myself doing things earlier that I would have left til later - cause I was drinking or hungover.

      It is SO much better.

Beautiful sunny day here in the UK. Haven't seen any 'ash' yet.
Hope no one has had their travel plans pooped because of this.

No flights in or out of the UK until Sunday 1am. Extraordinary.

Today is a sober day for me.
Went out to a bar last night with my partner. Had a great night drinking Soda and Lime.
      All is good.

      Have a good AF weekend.

Apparently it meant there was a beautiful sunset last night (don't understand the physics of that). Missed it, though :H

          Morning fabbie abbies!

Bingo on the packing / preparation! Horrid!

I'm going to a plant sale this AM at the botanical garden part of the zoo. That's where they had the Spring Fling a few weeks ago. I'm glad to be AF and going.

There are some parental issues at the nursing home and I would be doing some serious drinking over it in the old days. Nothing like drinking for a cause! Joking or not, I totally get that guy on the radio. My dad is being an obnoxious arse but being sober, I can see what's underneath and can manipulate, oops I mean manage things so much better.

I've got a pretty empty dance card this weekend. Hopefully I'll get a lot done plant wise and yard sale wise. Being AF is the only reason I can even THINK about pulling off a yard sale.

Marshy the sunset has to do with light refraction of the miniscule particulate matter in the air. (I made that up) I remember fantastic sunsets after Mt. St. Helen's eruption.

          Have a fabbie abbie day!

              I'm impressed! :H

Hope you're able to work things out with your dad. Not nice, but oh so much worse when drinking.

                Good morning Ab Fabbers,

Boy, everyone is up & at it early this morning

DG, I used an eyelash curler when I was a teenager & didn't really need it. Now, at this age when I really do need it I find I can't use one - it freaks me out!!!! I don't know, guess I've changed too much!
                Have fun today!

Marshy, don't work too hard today.......it is Saturday after all! I worked every other weekend during my 27 year nursing career.....glad it's done

Amelia, the volcanic ash may help your garden grow! I remember our cars being covered with ash when Mt St Helens blew back in 1980 - just a few months before my son was born. Hope I didn't inhale too much!!

Greenie, have fun at the plant sale. I think I will take myself to a plant farm in Southern Lancaster County today. They grow beautiful, hearty plants, very reasonable to buy. They have 26 greenhouses full of plants - the place is huge. You can pack a lunch & spend the day there cruising around

Deter, hope you feel better very soon. It can be rough weaning off AD & similar drugs. The trick is to do it VERY slowly.

Wishing everyone a fabulous AF day!

OK, it is only noon, but my dad has won the FH award for the day so everyone else who has a candidate just throw in the towel. :H I gave pause to the thought "You make me want to drink". Maybe .... "You make me want to escape". But really..... "I don't want to be around you". There. That fits. "I don't care to be around you when you act in that manner." By golly I am the Queen of Graciousness.

I didn't get anything at the plant sale. It was more along the lines of things for people with a landscape plan in motion or at least in thought. Out of my league. So I stopped by a place I've been eyeing but never stopped in. They had beautiful lush tropical plants specializing in orchids and such. A cat lives there and when I stopped petting it and walked in the door, it followed me in and kept biting my leg when I ignored the "pet me" meows. :H

Were this a couple years ago I would have been home drinking. Oh and I didn't mention a lovely breakfast outside at a little cafe between the plant sale and the nursing home.

                    Greenie,

My 27 year sentence in nursing convinced me that people are just a$$holes for the most part! You have to consider yourself very fortunate to occasionaly run into a decent person. My Dad & FIL both spent time in nursing homes - I couldn't believe their behavior either. People just get so damn goofy after a while ~ sometimes the kindest thing you can do is just walk away from them

I scored big time on plants today! When you go to this plant farm you are given a PF Flyer type wagon to drag around with you. Well, I filled the wagon in no time, believe me & spent exactly $69.00. About 1/3 of the plants I bought are perenials, the rest annuals. I will most likely go back next weekend & do it all over again I have lots of outside containers to fill each year!

Glad you at least enjoyed your breakfast!
OK, I'm going to start digging in some plants

                      For Determinator

                      Hi Det,

As you well know, many docs don't even acknowledge the severe withdrawal symptoms one can have weaning off of ADs. When I took myself off of them 1 1/2 years ago, I followed a very slow weaning off protocol. Check out this site:

Crazy Meds! The Good, The Bad & The Funny of Neurological Medications

This guy has some very useful information on all sorts of neuro drugs and a very specific protocol for stopping ADs. He is funny as all get out too.

Hi all! Wow the seminar was awesome. There was no sale, however they were selling stuff. And boy did I come home with some stuff. Plants for you guys, make up brushes for me.

Lav!! I learned of the perfect eye lash curler for you! It's the first thing on this page! robert jones beauty - tools

(and yes, I am now the proud owner of TWO eye lash curlers :H)

Here is my favorite quote of the day.

Your clothing is an accessory to you.
Your makeup is an accessory to you.
Your makeup is NOT an accessory to your clothing.
Match your makeup to you, not your clothing.

:H:H I loved that one. My makeup is an accessory to ME and not my clothing. WHEW. If I wear a lime green shirt I don't have to wear lime green eye shadow. :H :yougo: This guy was hillarious.

Anyway...it's WAY past my bed time and I'm going to hang up my brushes for today. Hope you all had a good one.
