May We Be Sober ~ week 2

    Good morning, friends!

Sooty of the cliffs, I hope you will soon be feeling good enough to return to them! I'm still waiting for Brit's poitics to sort out. It's surely been a bumpy road. I guess the last time there was a hung Parliament was in 1974! If you are like me, you have probably lost faith in governtment in general. We need to make a complete overhaul!

Sped, good to see you. The trip to the mountains sounds wonderful! Especially when shared with a friend. I think I am in sore need of some good girlfriend time. That usually does a lot to chase away the blue moods. Take care of yourself, Sped. Don't let those moods rule you. I'm sure you won't!

Chill, I hope you are enjoying your visit to Boston. I have been there a few times and love it. You'll have to post a bit about what you are doing and seeing. It will revive old memories for me, I'm sure!

Lav, we went out last evening and covered all our tender plants with sheets anticipating a frost. It got down to 36 overnight, so we dodged the bullet! Good thing, because there are loads of pears, apples and peaches on our trees that we probably would have lost. Did you have any frost troubles last night?

Red, I hope your visit with your family has been wonderful. Were you going to see parents and/or siblings? I sure miss my parents and wish I could visit with them. May they rest in peace. Mr. D and I went to visit his brother and sister-in-law yesterday. It's a two hour drive, so it is an all day event when we visit. Our SIL has been diagnosed very recently with Ovarian cancer and her prognosis is questionable. She starts chemo this week. We are praying for her.

Let's all be grateful for this day and for being AF. And let's celebrate our Mothers on this Mother's Day 2010!

    Good morning Dill & everyone,

Happy Mother's Day! It's a chilly one for sure Dill but not frosty.
Sending best wishes to you & your sister-in-law, will keep you all in my prayers.

Had a 20 minute calm, face to face chat with Mr Lav yesterday. I took one look at him & immediately realized he is suffering terribly. He asked if I was angry & I told him no that I felt very sorry that he is so emotionally unstable. I gently reminded him that he's nearing 60 & still allowing the unresolved crap with his parents to control his life - our lives! Unfortunately, he had the mother from hell - she was pure evil. I hated her the minute I met her & I was only 16 at the time. He did report that he is seeing the therapist & his GP frequently so I have to take that as a positive sign.

Well, I don't really have any plans for the day. Guess i'll just see what happens.
Wishing everyone a good & AF Sunday.

Good Morning Lav - Im so glad your conversation with Mr L was a calm one, its so important not to get upset and start raising our voices in these situations as this only makes things worse, never resolves anything and leaves us feeling awful. I know its frustrating for you as you have been dealing with him and his depression for so long but maybe all this is the catalyst for it finally being resolved. If you love him thats what matters.....

I had a dream about you last night! We were all working in the same office using our real names and didnt know who was who, then this new boss came in an called you into his office using your avatar name so i finally knew who you were! You were about 5'5 tall skinny with auburn bobbed hair and glasses............ bizarre!!

Finally had a good night sleep after too much excitement and jetlag so im back to my energetic Chill today and really for anything...

Re the UK election, my spiritual take on this is that now finally the opposition parties are going to have to learn to work together and get along. Its a lesson for all our politicians to realize its the only way we can move forward in a positive direction. Get along and work it through..... we may not always agree with one another but we can respect and love each other.

Wishing you all a peaceful and loving AF sunday :l

May We Be Sober ~ week 2

        Hi everyone

A late check in from me. Have been away all week-end. My cousins anniversary mass was yesterday and we decided to stay over and catch up with some family and friends. One of the reasons I am forcing myself to do this is because at nearly 90 days AF I slipped and had a glass of wine Saturday night. I am so mad at myself. I probably was over confident. I had never managed to go this long before and thought I had this thing kicked. Al decided to show me that I have to be ever vigilant. Had not been taking the supplements as much so back on them this morning and going to bed tonight AF.

Hope you all had a good week-end. Will catch up on all the news tomorrow.

Lav, I'm glad you got a few minutes with Mr. L. It sounds like a very intense few minutes emotionally, but that you handled yourself and the situation very well. Stay strong.

Chill, what sights did you see today?

Rust, don't beat yourself up. Just learn from it and let it go. Stay positive. This does not erase all your AF time to date!

          Peace and strength to all.

            Hi friends,

For someone who had no plans for the day - I ended up having a great day!
Both of the kids, their spouses & my grandson came over & cooked dinner - lovely
The best part was hearing that my second grandchild is on the way!!!!!
Such great news, I'm thrilled of course!

Just wish Mr Lav could have been here to participate in the happiness. Maybe this news will help him see what he's missing............

Hope everyone had a good day as well.
Chill, I'll bet it's pretty chilly up in New England - it sure is here!

Rustop, forget the glass of wine - it was a special celebration!

Dill, Sooty & everyone - wishing you a good night

              Hello everyone,
I just wanted to join in. I'm just taking in the conversations for the moment, but I wish you all a great day.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

May We Be Sober ~ week 2

Good morning to all. I had a great weekend, attended a graduation, went out to dinner and now have to go to work. I am exhausted. I really need a day off, but did not plan it. Traveling is fun but it is nice to have a day to off there.

Lav, good that you were able to communicate with your husband. Congrats on the coming of the second grandchild, how exciting.

Chill, hope you had a great time in Boston.

Dill, thanks for starting the thread, you sound good and busy.

                A great day to all.

                    Happy AF Monday Guys
Its freeeeeeeeeezzzzing here in New England! Not quite what i've been used to in Portugal, may have to go shopping for some warmer clothes.

Its kinda nice staying with a MWO-er, we can talk openly about AL days and have a laugh about how crazy it all was. I never have to feel akward when ordering a non alcoholic drink or explain myself to him.

Today he will be at work and i will be finding my way around on my own but 1st stop is the gym or im going to go home a size bigger with all this American food!!!

                      Hi everyone

Sounds like you all had very enjoyable week-ends. Weather very mixed here, beautiful and sunny one minute and rain or hail the next!!

Lav, congratulations on the new grandchild, again enjoy. Things will work themselves out eventually but you are an inspiration to the rest of us on how you are handling this.

                            Hello friends!

It's a dreary rainy morning here, and chilly, too.

Lav, that is AWESOME news! I'm so happy for you and your family! Maybe this will have a positive affect on Mr. L.

Sooty, your politics are like watching a soap opera!

I'm running late here today, so must fly.

May We Be Sober ~ week 2

Morning all from soap opera country! I can't believe the wheeling and dealing that's going on with our political situation. Suddenly parties who's manifestos opposed certain things are now saying that they will just do them in order to get other people on board - morals don't figure very highly it would appear. I am thoroughly disillusioned with it all.
Hope we are all doing ok today - weather still cold and dreary but a little blue sky appeared about 10 minutes ago so I might venture out after lunch.
I can't work out if its the reaction to my accident or just plain laziness but I seem to have lost some of my zip - and I want it back! Definitely not a good idea to go throwing oneself down steps at my age!!!
Have a good day everybody - keep strong
                              love sooty
