May we be sober - Week 4

Star, I wonder too about people who stop posting. I think probably some remain AF, but not many. I know that for me, posting is still essential. It would be very easy to resume my old ways, I'm sure. That scares me and saddens me.

Lav, we need a name for June and I haven't got any ideas. Do you?

Sped, Mr. Dill has very poor vision, especially in his "bad" eye, the one with the transplant. He wears corrective lenses on bith eyes, but his left eye has a lens that is really, really thick. He sees much better when he wears his contacts, because they are specially designed to correct the shape of his corneas. He doesn't like having to wear the contacts, but sees so much better with them that he really must.

Chill, thank you for your heartfelt post and for the affirmation. I'm glad your trip was to visit a MWO friend. It sounds like that was your saving grace to keep al at bay.

Yesterday I made Amish Friendship bread in the morning and it took my posting time. Morning is when I am most likely to post. There just isn't a good time usually after that for me to center myself and get some time alone with the laptop. I'm glad to be back this morning!

Hi Soot, Rusty LBH, and all who stop by.

    May we be sober today.
    Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

      Hello there,
Lav I do hope your DIL is doing ok today, and that you had a good night's rest after looking after your grandson. Sounds like a busy day. Sorry Mr. Lav was emotionally checked out. You are going through trying times.
Chill your story is interesting. Thank your lucky stars you were with a MWOer. And good for you for being strong.
Dill sorry to hear about Mr. Dill's eye problems. Hope he is doing ok now. What is Amish friendship bread?
      Hi Sooty and Rusty.
      Gotta run now.

May we be sober - Week 4

        Good morning friends,

Wow, I did sleep well last night! So that's the secret to a good night's sleep - chasing an 18 month around all day long???!!!!

I'm going to jump in the car & take some lunch over to my DIL & grandson later. Can't get myself out of the nurse habit of wanting to check in on the post-op patient, make sure everything is OK.

Gaia, you really hit the nail on the head - Mr Lav is totally emotionally checked out! I told him about a week ago that I was concerned about his lack of empathy & to please bring the topic up with his therapist. He freely admitted that he doesn't give crap about anyone right now. That's pretty obvious, don't you think?

I haven't made any special plans for the long weekend. I'm sure at some point the kids will gather here for a burger or something. I don't have a drop of AL around here, not even any beer for a visitor. I don't worry about that anymore. If someone wanted beer bad enough, say my son he would just bring it along

Dill, Red(Star), Sooty, Sped, Rusty, LBH, Gaia & everyone - I hope you have a beautiful day!
The temp dropped to 70 degrees over night after the thuinder storms, it's nice right now, think I'll go out for a bit.

I'll start thinking about a June name.........

        Lav

Just a couple of June thoughts....

          Jolly June
          The June Jewels
          June Jugglers

but my favorite is "The June Journey" or "Journey through June"

            Hi everyone

Just back from the hairdressers so have had a busy morning. Love the Journey one Chill. After all we are on a journey together and there are many bumps along the way!! You were lucky to be with a MWO'r. I know that if my husband had been along on the trip to NY I would have found it impossible.

Rushing to do a school run so hope everyone has a great week-end.

Jubilant June?? Which is kind of a joke because a half mile from my house is Jubilation Liquors, an establishment I frequented often in the day. Joyous June?? Sounds kind like a hymn. Jocular June??
Sooty isn't it your job to think up a new name??

I have had a good morning so far. Running with the full moon, cooler than yesterday. Today is the last day of school (sorry Dill, hang in there). I have been tutoring 2 little girls from Mexico all year. They are coming over tonight to make pizza and spend the night in a tent in the backyard. Feeling like a surrogate grandma.

Dill, my husband has hard contacts prescribed which refuses to wear because of the discomfort they cause. I feel frustrated that he's got this medical problem going on and he just won't deal with it. But it's his problem.

Lav, what a good MIL and grandma you are.

Chill, I so know what you mean about having time to yourself. Sometimes I just get exhausted interacting with people. Do you have anymore travel plans for the summer? Heard a report recent on National Public Radio about political and economic unrest in Spain. Does that spill over into Portugal?

Gala...I was thinkin who is Gala, then saw your formerly known as. Bon matin!

              Enjoy your long weekend Red.

Hello everyone and how lovely to see so many of us again! It was getting a bit too quiet on here for my liking.
I've had a lovely day so far, been out to the gardens with Mr S, we took a picnic but bought a cup of coffee - very pleasant.
Someone asked a few posts ago, I think it was Rust, about the holiday here - its the Whitsun holiday - Monday is a national holiday and the schools close for a week.
I love the idea of Journey through June as our next name - so appropriate for a bus driver
Have a good day fellow passengers - see you later
                love Sooty

                  Hello again friends,

It's Friday evening & all is well! My DIL is fine, no problems I glad to report.

Mr Lav is expected here tomorrow to cut grass - he said he would. I told him our son will not be doing any more grass cutting here. He has his own to take care of & has very little spare time as he works at least 6 days/week. We, collectively, are not going to enable Mr Lav (to be a freaking weirdo) anymore!!!

Just had a nice dinner prepared by my daughter & her husband. They went though my refrig & freezer & came up with a nice meal

OK, time to chill out for a while. If anyone needs fresh brown eggs please stop over. My hens are very happy girls these days

                  Lav

                    Hi Gang!
Another wonderful saturday morning hangover free....
I just got back from walking the dog and Im having my 1st cup of coffee,
I seem to have picked up a cold bug and its left me feeling completely drained of energy.
Luckily I have no plans other than to spend the day in the garden with my book...

I was thinking to myself on my walk how usually when I had a cold it was an excuse to get trashed (wasnt everything!) my logic being that it numbed the lousy way I was feeling :H
Its amazing what crap I used to tell myself.....!!!

Lav - you sound like you had a good evening and are in good spirits, dont let the "grasscutter" dampen your mood today..

I will check in later.... its SO nice to be back in my old routine

                      Good morning everyone

Its a horrible wet morning here. Bit of a shock to the system as we have not had rain in weeks. Last week was glorious, hope its not here to stay!!

Lav - Good idea, sometimes zero tolerance is what works.

Chill - Hope the cold is soon better. It's probably after all the travelling. I have a friend who travels a lot and everytime she is cooped up on a long haul flight she gets a cold

Sooty, Dill, Star and everyone else big hello and have a great week-end. Rushing as my daughter wants to go see the horse and exercise him. However, I had a lie in this morning. I'm not a sleeper and usually up around my usual time of 7 but this morning I slept until 10!! Had a busy week so I guess the body needed it. Feeling very refreshed and unhungover so a good start to the day.

hello peeps. just my thoughts on the name.. i really like june journey. it kinda sums it up. after almost 3 months sober i totally blew it. 2 binges in less than 2 weeks. i think i lost my focus... and the plot so ive really got to get my head back in the right place. i was loving the sober life, feeling really good and positive about things.. and wham.. drinking really takes away the good feeling. imust be really careful not to lose sight of what im doing here.
Today is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine
                        Keep passing the open windows

May we be sober - Week 4

Hi friends, I like June Journey too.

Spuddle, I'm sorry you lost your focus, but it happens. Just keep posting and get back on board. You'll make it!

Gaia, I didn't notice you are Tulipe until Sped mentioned it. That's funny because I was wondering what ever happened to Tulipe and if she would post with us anymore! Why the name change? Amish Friendship bread is a really delicious sweet bread. The closest I can come to describing it is that it tastes a lot like sour cream coffee cake, if you have ever had that. But it is made with a "starter". A freind gave me some starter. It ferments for 10 days and then on the 10nth day you divide the starter into 4 more cups of starter and then add ingredients to the remaining cup of starter to make two loaves of bread. It is absolutely delicious!

Sped, Mr. D refused to wear the contacts for many years. Then when he decided to try again he had to try several times to get the right fit. It was a process and not a pleasant one. I feel bad for him that he has to go through that. I guess his vision had just gotten so bad that he decided it was worth it.

Lav, I hope Mr. Lav does the mowing today. And I also hope that he sits and visits awhile. Speaking of mowing, I took a spin on the riding lawn mower yesterday while Mr. D trimmed with the weed whacker. I don't mind mowing but it is a rough job here. Our lawn is uneven and bumpy as all get out, due to moles and voles.

Chill, happy unhung Saturday to you! I'm glad to see you posting more now that you're back home.

Rust, where are you? It is only 7 am here and you have posted and said you were in bed until 10 am? I for some reason, thought you were out on the west coast of the U.S.. I must have that wrong!

LBH, Soots, Star, everyone, may we share a sober Saturday.

                            Hi Everybody,

I hope you don't mind if I post here. I am on Day 3 AF and feeling so wonderfully happy and well-rested after sleeping like a baby, I'd just thought I'd post before I start my holiday weekend.

Lav-so sorry Mr. Lav is detached-maybe mowing the lawn would be therapeutic for him because he could take his mind off his problems and focus on someone else?? I hope you have a restful holiday weekend with your kids. You're a great mother, MIL and grandma. Is your daughter pregnant? I keep hoping she is!!! ;-)

Dill-I hope Mr. D is doing better. My 83-yr.old mother had a corneal transplant and I hope his was more successful than hers. My mom can't even see out of that eye now and we are all so disgusted....the doctor just shrugs his shoulders and says nothing...GRRRR!!

Chill-loved your post. I've been in your shoes many times. Glad you had an MWO friend to support you.

Spuddle-glad to see you dusted yourself off and are carrying on. We've all been in your shoes but I know how frustrating it is.

Hi to Red, Star, Rustop, Sooty, Spuddle, Gaia, Sped and LBH....I hope I haven't missed anyone!

Have a wonderful AF day everyone and for all of you in the US, have a happy Memorial Day weekend. It feels so great to be AF. I can tell you what I was doing last year on this day...recovering from a hangover! :-(

Well, it's going to be sunny and 80 here today and I'm off to get all my flowers! I'll check in later tonight!!
