    AF Daily - May 27, 2010

Good morning Fabbie Abbies! Special healing vibes today out to everyone - for alcoholism or anything else that needs healing.

Cindi (it's always good to see you!) and Greenie, I must say it was good to start my MWO day with some :H:H:H over bathrobe antics and curlers. Greenie, does your new robe have some :bling on it? If not, you really need to keep upgrading!

I am jealous of the 5 minute hair do. I keep asking my hair dresser if I can cut my hair short and she keeps telling me no. (I'm sure she is right, but still....) So at my appointment on Tuesday she gave me some pony tail training to help me get through summer without cutting it all off. I had no idea there was so much involved in pony tails. I had to stop at the store for different elastic bands and some classic bobby pins, which I guess are back in style for use in the modern "hip" pony tail. Lately when I get up with bed head, I just use the hot rollers and then put it in a pony tail. I guess that is not the right way to go about this.

I'm happy to be sober today. I have a lot I want to accomplish and there is just no way I could do it all hung over. Back in my 20's and 30's, I could have a raging hangover and still somehow "muscle" my way through the day. But when I got to late 30's and 40's, that became SO difficult and I really started screwing up on the job and at home and in life. I don't think I could do it at all now in my 50's. (29)

Well, I'm off to get more coffee. Have a fabulous AF day one and all! Remember your sunscreen!

    Morning Abber's!

At 27, i find these day's i'm favouring the Japanese kimono look, when alighting from the shower. It's smooth, silky textures, caress and compliment.

A safe, sober, and magical day to all!

      Morning all!

Careful G, I'm celibate you know!

Yesterday evening a guy came over for an estimate and while standing in the driveway he pointed down saying you've got some paint there; you must have had another estimate and someone spilled some paint. (white) I said no..... (puzzled) looking around. And then I see some on little car! Bird poop! It must have been a turkey flying overhead to do that!!

Yesterday I stopped off at a new inner city farm. It was so cool! It's a pretty good size plot and the 5 people I saw were really working hard. They let me go in the greenhouse where they had all sorts of seeds sprouting. They had some little lemon and lime trees and a kumquat tree. And a tilapia pond fed by water flowing though trough with plants to filter. It's a very "green" place. They had some beautiful chickens too. I got some zucchini and watercress. I'm happy to see the growing focus on local.

Another busy day in greenieville. Me too, DG. I'm so happy to look at my do list and what else I might fit in rather than try to decide what was essential and maybe not even do those.

SO... tell us about getting the II biscuit at AA, DG!!

                Good Morning All,

Off to a rambunctious start I see.

Okay, I need that pony tail training. Seriously, how do you do it? I worked out this morning and had my hair in a pony tail but all of the ends come out every which way and my head looked like a fuzzy cauliflower. My hair and humidity don't mix well.

G - if I join you and Greenie, will you buy me a new bathrobe? With rhinestones on it?

M3 - hair spray and bobby pins. And if that doesn't work, there is always more hairspray. And bobby pins.

Hi Marshy! Are you going to grab your bathrobe and join the fun?

Oney, I hope you know that *I* have no part in this X rated stuff. It's these other people here on the daily thread. *NOT ME*.

                      Hi there,
DG love the medal. Never really had thick enough hair to hole a PT, not for a long time.
But I do recommend the scrunchie thingie that sits around the pony tail holder and makes a nice but fake bun. With enough gel anything sticks, M3.
                      Greenie you are aptly named!
Guit - kimonos are nice but funnily enough they do show figure flaws, or at least my lumpy flaws.
I have 3 years of catching up to do on Desperate Housewives! Last I saw, Brie was fake preggers and Edie was going bonkers over Eva Longoria's hubby. Talk about out of it!
Another AF day for me but I still don't feel 'right' about it. I have a very fancy party on Saturday, where the champers will be flowing like water. I certainly don't want to miss all the fun by drinking but I think I will have to arrived already armed and ready. I know Mr. T. will drink a lot. I'm looking forward to it but I'm apprehensive.
                      With uncertaintly,
                      T.

Well, now we know how to liven up the daily af thread.. .throw in a couple of sexual innuendos and we're up to 2 pages before 7 am!

Only have time to make a couple comments: I have long hair, I have a less than five minute hairdo that involves pulling it back into a ponytail or a bun. I'm confused.
As far a humidity--I have naturally curly hair so It gets really big when it's wet--but there are lots of products out there to calm it down--but I hate hairspray! I just went to my new hairdresser again the other day and we toned down the red a little--it is much better.

Gaia--it takes time to feel "right" being af--esp if you were a drinker for a long time. Be patient. Every time you do something WITHOUT alcohol that you used to do WITH, your brain will figure out that this is the way it's going to be and calm down about it. I still stress once in awhile about going somewhere that will involve al, but I try to have an early exit plan. And unless I really want to go I stay home. It does get easier--trust me on that!

It is cloudy, but I must remember my sunscreen today! zoom, zoom

LVT, I would LOVE to have curly hair! (and red too!) I agree with what you said about doing things sober, and each time we do that we re-train the brain. I remember when I first quit drinking how hard it was to cook dinner without a glass of wine or vodka drink in my hand. It wasn't too long of cooking dinner before the thought didn't even occur to me to have a drink nearby. Then I remember canning tomatoes the first time sober. I had to go through that re-training the brain thing again, even though it was sort of like cooking dinner! Over time it gets so much easier.

Marshy, you find the best smilies! Perfect for every occassion! :H

I love Desparate Housewives too (as does Mr. Doggy :H). We don't watch during the regular seasons. We wait until it comes out on Netflix and get the whole thing at once. No waiting a week in between episodes that way!

Gaia, here is the plan I use for social events involving AL. (that is, if I decide to go and like LVT, I am not afraid to NOT go! My sobriety is #1!)

                            1. Eat first. (Maybe it's just me but I am less likely to crave AL on a full stomach)
                            2. Decide what I WILL drink when I'm there. Bring it if appropriate.
                            3. Arrive late if possible. (or go early and leave very early where that is possible - this is my strategy at business events - get out of there before the REAL drinking gets underway!)
                            4. Have an exit strategy. I will LEAVE long before I DRINK that is for sure!! Often this involves me having separate transportation from Mr. Doggy.

I'm sure others will add their ideas in hopes it will help you. I think the important thing is to ALWAYS have a strategy when it comes to being around AL. Not having a plan is how we get in trouble I think.

These days there are SO many active things I would rather do than go to a (primarily) drinking event. Which reminds me - I need to call and sign up for the AA canoe trip!

DG thanks for the tips. BUT...
If I leave early, what if Mr. T. finds someone else he likes better? NOt that it is an excuse, no way, for me, but if I'm not fun, maybe he'll find someone else. He loves to dance and if I'm not there he'll dance with other women.
