Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

AA, it is great to see you as always. I totally understand what you mean about feeling a little more irritable, etc. etc. if not totally on program. I have to stay super vigilent in order to experience the contented sobriety that I now know is possible for me - but doesn't just fall in my lap. I haven't had strong urges to drink in a long time, but that irritability factor can really creep up on me.

prancy, you are doing GREAT!!! Congratulations on 16 days AF! :yougo::yougo::yougo: The cheerleader smilies are out full force. You can absolutely get through your family event sober. The key is having a good plan and it seems you are already thinking about that. If you are not comfortable just saying "no" to AL beverages outright, there is always the long list of stuff such as "I'm on medication..." "I have an upset stomach tonight..." "I'm on a diet..." "I'm drinving tonight..." etc. to pick from. I also like to eat plenty of food before I go - less temptation for me to drink on a full stomach than an empty one. I too decide in advance what I WILL be drinking, just like you are already thinking about. And I always have an early exit strategy. I will leave long before I drink. You can do it!! And you will feel so good about yourself when you do.

Deter, can I come live with you and Dx? I'll do dishes and do the shopping and chopping of the food. I am very sorry to hear about the little bunny. I am a softie in that regard too....what's not to love about a little baby bunny? :upset:

OK - off to look for a Friday thread or start one!
