Journey thru June - week 4

Good evening from me and thanks for all your supportive comments, they mean a lot to me and I'm so grateful.
I'm feeling better now thank goodness and have absolutely no urge to repeat my stupidity.
Did I tell you that Mr S and I are taking a little holiday next week - prior to bringing daughter back from university. I am determined not to drink while I'm away, I don't want to waste any valuable time feeling rough.
So I'll be back driving the bus tomorrow, altho I'm sure Lav has done a sterling job.
Have a good rest of Tuesday - see you on humpday
    love Sooty

Journey thru June - week 4

      Good Afternoon June Friends,

Dill-I think I have a name for your boat-it's a Rusty Original. The Nautical Nymph. Or, Dillerious, Dillicious, Dillightful. I'm on a roll. Ok, I'll stop now.

Sped/Shelley-I admire you for taking such a long road trip. You like Nebraska???/ Have to say it's not one of my favorite states although I really like Omaha. Brave woman you are. Getting any running in? I sent you a PM, too.

Lav-I just wanted to add that I started drinking for the VERY SAME REASON you did. I was in a relationship with a guy who had several grown kids from his first marriage and did know how to show love....to me anyway. His kids were a different story. He couldn't show his love enough. I felt lonely and empty most of the time when we were together, which was 5 years, and oh yes, yes, yes, I wanted to show him how his behavior fueled my drinking. Then when I broke up with him, and he's a lawyer, he was devastated!! He had no idea that I was unhappy. I said, "what do you need me to do for you to wake up, hit you over the head with a frying pan?" It took him 3 years to get over it. Men are so flipping dense sometimes....DRIVES ME NUTS! Right, Chill????

G, Rustop, Star, Spuddle, LBH....hope you're all doing well. I've got to head back outside and finish planting my flowers before my 2nd workout of the day and a nice long swim in the pool.

G-By the way, I LOVE Australian accents, and English ones too. They totally get me worked up. :H:H

Sooty-How are you feeling? Any better today?

      More later,

      Rusty

Journey thru June - week 4

Boy, we had a huge storm roll thru here a little while ago!
Tons of rain, wind, hail, etc but it did drop the temperature 30 degrees!!! Shame the cool air won't last though - a heatwave is predicted thru next Tuesday, yikes!!!!

Raven, I didn't know about the solstice & hayfever thing. That explains why I've been sneezing with itchy eyes & nose the past two days.........interesting!

Well, Mr Lav was due to return from his trip this afternoon. Of course he won't bother to let me know.......

I have a huge crop of sage growing in my herb garden & decided today that I'm going to harvest some & make a smudge stick. This house is full of negative energy (that Mr Lav left behind). I've never done anything like this before but figure - why not? I really feel the need to drive the negativity out of here

Rusty, the thickness of some men's skulls...........
I always swore he would never notice if my hair was on fire. He didn't know when he had it good!
        Raven & G please don't be offended!

Dill, I finally got around to downloading Eckhart Tolle's 'The Power of Now' to my Kindle last night. Very good reading so far, I'm sure I will be buying more of his work.

Wishing everyone a calm & peaceful, AF evening!
        Lav

Morning all and happy humpday. Going to be busy cos daughter coming home just for one night to go to a pop concert so I'll probably be ferrying and fetching. Wanted to let you know that I'm back driving the bus ... sorry Lav, but I am the expert driver and I've got the beach boys playing cos its summertime

Let me know how you get on with the smudge stick, a girl I used to work with used to bring one to the office cos she said that was full of negative energy - dunno if it worked but what the heck, it'll be a bit of fun. Do you need a lot of sage? I have a small amount growing.

I hope everyone has a lovely day, the sun is shining here and I'm raring to go!
          Take care folks,
          love Sooty

Sooty - Glad you are back in the driving seat!! And a very happy humpday to you....

Lav - Have you heard from Mr L yet? When I hear you say your marriage has been a lonely one I wonder if you really want to go back to it?

Dill - How about just "Nameless" for the boat?

Rusty - I want to know how your dinner went with Mr Cocktail..

LBH - Sorry about the potato chip in your eye, I hope you adjust quickly.

Sped - This is my 1st sober summer too, I have to say that back in January the thought of it was so daunting. Summer here is all about chilled glasses of rose for lunch and sauvignon at sunset. So far Im finding it easier that I thought and the joy of waking up clear headed is still incentivating me....

Journey thru June - week 4

Good Morning June Friends and Happy Hump Day,

Lav-Mr.Lav will finally make a change when he decides there's really a crisis but he doesn't see that yet. Sorry he's still detached.

Raven, Chill and I think you, too, G-You have mentioned the summer solstice and I am going to Google it because it's something we never think about it here in the US this time of year, and I would like to know more about it.

G and Raven-I'm sorry if I came across harshly yesterday The guys on this thread are brilliant and wonderful!

I got through my dinner yesterday AF. My friend didn't mind at all if I sipped on club soda. Actually, I had the bartender mix it with bitters and lemon, lime and orange wedges and it looked pretty in the glass and was delicious!

Today and tomorrow will be a test of my AF fortitude. I will be with this client who resents my presence at his company, and has no problem at all letting me know how much he doesn't want me there. The last time I was there, as sson as I got off work, I headed for the bar....where I stayed for 2 hours!

I'll check in later with everybody! Have a great AF day!

Rusty - Well done for staying AF last night! Dont let this client send you to the bar this time, when he is being difficult take deep breaths and just repeat to yourself you are strong and happy AF. So why would you allow someone unimportant to you to ruin that.

Last week was the 1st time I had gone and purchased alcohol and had it in the house for my guest, at 1st I kept having the thought "this is going to be difficult" "this is going to open the door to tempation" then I said to myself, CRAP! This doesnt have to be difficult but if I tell myself it will be then it will be! I love being AF, Im a strong, bright capable person that can make good choices and therefore why would having alcohol in the house be difficult?! Its poison which destroys lives, causes depression, heartache and devestation so its no different than me worrying about maybe drinking the paint thinner in the shed. I love feeling good and thats that.

                  Good morning, Junestars!
LBH, I am SO happy for you getting your vision restored!!! I know the contact will be a pain, but you will adjust and it makes your quality of life so much better. It will be great to have you back to describing your awesome drives through the southwest landscapes, racing down the road with your scarf and pearls flying in the wind!
Lav, are you going to tell me what a "smudge" is, or do I have to google it? My first association is "smudge pot" which is what they use in fruit orchards on cold mornings to ward off the frost. They give off a thick black smoke, so I don't think that is remotely what you are talking about!:H
Rusty, well done on your AF dinner yesterday! Don't let some jerk in the workplace have the power over you today! It's bad enough you have to put up with him at work, don't let him ruin your AF evening.
Chill, "Nameless" just doesn't work for me!:H We have time before we have to name it, so I am going to see what evolves.
Sooty, my peas are all done already! We're up to our eyeballs in green beans. I picked so many yesterday that we will have to break out the canning jars! For dinner we had a green bean feast. We had beans and new red potatoes, and green bean mousaka. It was delicious!
Sped, our farm is just one mile from a small town, so if we have emergency needs, like in the middle of a recipe, we have a local grocery to go to. Selecion is limited. We can order pizza from a local pizza place and have it delivered. This small town is a college town, so the businesses cater to the college community and farmers. There's a great hardware store! Keep us posted on your travels. It's been really rainy in Ohio and Indiana lately, I hope that clears up before you head to Indiana.

Spuddle, Guitarista, Red, Rustop, Raven and all who stop by, have a great AF humpday!
                  Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                    Good afternoon friends,

I couldn't log on this morning..........
Glad I can now though! EB grandson is napping & it is peaceful here at the moment :H

Sooty, I'm happy that you're back in the driver's seat & thanks for the Beach Boys tunes. Always did like those guys

                    Dill, FYI:
Smudge stick - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have long felt that this house, built just 7 years ago by my ever miserable BIL & occupied by his miserable brother (Mr Lav) is filled with NEGATIVITY. I want to get rid of it - once & for all! So I will design my smudge stick & hope for the best :H

The power went out an hour ago around here - I am grateful for my generator!

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF rest of the (Hump)Day.

Lav - I have been on a couple of native American Indian retreats and this is where I 1st learned about "smudging", we all passed it round and wafted the smoke around us and over our heads to clease away any negativity. The Buddhist have a similar tradition with insense and I now daily light a stick in case any negative energy has gotten into my house. Everyone who comes here always remarks on what a calm peaceful atmosphere my home has and so I have become a bit superstitious and never miss a day!

I've tried to log on several times today without success, the forum must have been down and I am so relieved to see you all here now!

Rusty summer solstice refers to the longest day, winter solstice being the shortest, its all to do with the position of the earth and the sun. And of course there is the most magical place - Stonehenge where the stones are positioned so that they are in the centre of the dawn sunrise on 21st June - amazing - how did they do it? Google Stonehenge and write an essay of no less than 1000 words :H:H

Chill I didn't realise incence sticks did the same as sage - I have some upstairs and will start immediately. I could do with some peace and tranquility in this house!

I hope everyone has had a good day. The bus is going in a very straight line - heading for the beach and the ice cream van!

                        See you all tomorrow

Raven, it is good to see you posting again. Where have you been?

Lav, I am glad you are enjoying the Power of Now. It helped me a great deal when I was in the beginning of this journey. I also recommend A New Earth, by Tolle. It is a good one to listen to on Ipod or CD. I find I am more prone to listening to books these days because I can keep busy walking, driving or doing mundane chores while I listen.

I'm trying the photo thing again. I think I've got a good size this time. Sooty and Chill, we have been talking about convolvulous, the weed. But this is a picture of an annual convulvuous I have in my flower bed. It is completely harmless (not an invasive weed) and is beautiful, as you can see! This bloom was not fully open when I took the picture, but it was close enough.

A couple of women at work are talking about bringing a smudge stick in soon too.
I often burn incense around the house, usually on weekend's. Love lavender.
