Weekly AA Thread - Week of June 28 - July 4

At a mtg last evening we were talking about the convention. No one from my area went as far as I know. It was a great feeling to know that people on MWO were there. Can't wait to hear about it either.

A great AL free holiday weekend so far.

      Happy 4th everyone!!
Had a BBQ at my home, people had AL but not ME!! YAY!
I'm so new to AA but I love the meetings and so far how it has helped remind me.

I too am looking forward to what the convention was like.

Good for you CherBear. We had a couple over too. Had them bring their own AL if they wanted it. Didn't drink and had a good time. Amazing isn't it. The time went by so fast too.
Never could have thought it possible.

        Isn't it great!

I too have been at picnics, parties, bbq's, etc. wo/drinking while others do. I've gotten accustomed to it, & nobody seems to notice. I have a great time because:
-I don't have to worry about getting as much booze as I want.
-I don't have to worry that my drunkenness will show.
-I don't have to worry about headaches or throwing up.
-I don't have to worry about slurring & trying to sound normal.

There is freedom for me in not drinking. I love that I can have a good time wo/AL. Socializing is a little different than it used to be when I drank...better. The people we hang w/are normal drinkers, so I don't have to think about trying to converse w/drunks.

          Take care one & all.

We're doing OK here. We're taking the recuperation of our daughter ODAT. Yesterday, we had a family meal...SIL bbqued, & we had fresh corn on the cob. It was great...good spirits all around. Patty is doing more & more on her own. Yesterday she carefully took a shower (sitting down) by herself.

            Mary,
You said it all. It is great being free from alcohol.

Mary, that is great. We too had a bbq with friends yesterday. Told them to BYOB. Amazingly it went well. No excessive drinking and we did have a good time.
Glad to hear your daughter is taking it steady and slow.
