Keeping in mind today is begins (the miraculous) day 7, do I start trying to avoid sugar and processed foods?
I bought this Cassis stuff to add flavor to water and I love it (yum, yum) but it's sugar.
    Sugar but not wine.

    Not sure?
Can I just trod along biding my time until I become a bit more stable and then take the next step? Maybe just pay a bit more attention?

No supplements or meds for me as it just doesn't seem possible to maintain my supply. I am trying on my own. I've bought supps locally but seem to rely too much on them as 'the' solution. When in fact 'the' solution has to come from me.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

1967, Good morning. Personally, I like to drink water with lemons/lemon juice in it. I read it detoxifies the liver and to me it tastes good. I find that if I eat sugar, I soon drink. It must have something to do with the blood sugar.

I remember back in 2008 when I first bought all the supps, vitamins, etc. I felt soooo good. But you are right, they are just a tool. We have to have the commitment as the solution is in us. Good luck to you, sending you strength.

        Hiya 1967!

Great job on day 7. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg! The less sugar the better i suspect, though i'm still a bit of a sweet tooth, and more so since not drinking, but i think it's best not to go too hard on the sugar. Try fruit instead?

        Best wishes! G.

G is spot-on :H:H:H no pun!! with the fruit. It is far better to eat the fruit rather than to go for fruit juices. If you're thirsty, drink water. Drink enough water and you won't BE thirsty. Eating the fruit is better for you - fiber, giving your body a chance to let it do it's digestive thing rather than blasting your pancreas with juice and it lets you prolong the sugar imbibing feeling.

I drink a fair amount of decaf iced tea that I sweeten with a bit of agave nectar (I actually measure it so I don't kid myself) and add some mint leaves or ginger slices or something to perk it up. There is a 30 day sugar thread around here somehwhere. We did one at lent and there is a good one by DeeBee earlier than that which is a good read.

            okay, thanks.
I am drinking water w/lemon juice. staying hydrated in this tropical climate is no easy task.
Had a bit of stress in the living room just now.
Bought a new TV and cannot manage to program it.
Dogs barking and panting isn't making things any easier. Then remembered I have to go to the bank tomorrow and meet w/the banker and had to gather information for that.
Met a guy from the gym at the market who said 'you are gaining weight, you don't come to the gym early now."
I refrained from advising he go fuck himself (whoops) and told him he has bad manners.
Then he says when are you joining me for a swim? I told him 'you just want to see me in my bathing suit.' He agreed and said well 'at least I am honest'. Who cares?
He keeps trying to get me to agree to a sordid affair and he is married. "She doesn't have to know."
            Idiot.
I keep telling him 'on your best day it isn't going to happen.'
It is one of those silly banters but he needs to stop telling me I am fat. What a bloody moron.
Could it be more obvious he's been married for 20 years? No sane person says that to a single female and images she will ever give him the time of day again.
            Anyhow.
I am feeling a little 'moody.' I guess that is obvious.

              Hi 1967,

              Congratulations on Day 7! :goodjob:

I like water with lemon or lemon juice....very healthy. One of my favorite non-AL drinks apparently helps kidneys and liver and that is cranberry juice with sparkling water and lemon. It totally quenches my thirst...and in fact when I was drinking at my worst and I would wake up parched in the middle of the night, that was the only solution.

Regarding the dumbass guy at the gym...why tell you you're fat (when you're not!!) and then ask you out/try to take you to bed. The next time he says that to you, you can use my line....say, "what makes you think I find YOU attractive? You have big dreams, pal." Or, "you're MUCH too old for me. I prefer men my own age."

Congrats again and good job telling the swarmy SOB to go screw himself. Loser.

                Thanks Rusty!

Gym guy is a freak, huh?
                Gross-a-rama.
He keeps saying 'you know it's inevitable, it's just a matter of time. Freak.
                Really very funny.

Am trying the cranberry juice w/lemon.. pretty good! Thanks!

                I logged day 7, whoopie!
I got TV today. Yup. And you know what? It was a good idea.
Might be a diversion in the evenings. Feeling a bit better now, hope others are too.

                  1967,

I think it's great that you got a TV. I always assume people have one....but you know what they say about the word "assume" It makes an ass out of u and me, and right now, it's me :H

The guy at the gym is the kind of guy I've run into all my life...for some reason....I don't know why. I guess you take it as a compliment and then totally ignore him and squash his deluded ego.

Who cares? You're 7 days AF and I am AF tonight myself....and proud because last night at the hotel I was staying, they offer two free cocktails and I said no, thanks. Amazing. I never thought it could happen.

Have a good night. I'm off to the gym.

                    Good for you!

I cannot exercise in the evening, even in the late afternoon I get all 'excited' and cannot sleep.
I guess I mentioned the sleep problem.

Yes, most people do have TV. I've not had it since 1999 or so? And that was the first time ever, imagine!
                    Haha!

Have a good workout... good night.
