    AF Daily, Wednesday July 7th

I hate starting this thread because we always end up with 2 for the day then. But, I wanted to thank you all for the advice and support on the teenage issues. AFM-I commented this morning on your thread about your daycare issues--now I see you already know your problems only get bigger as they do. I've been pretty down in the dumps over this. I feel pretty naive and let down. Not that I thought my son was an angel, but I did think he was better than that. But thinking back, I was pretty mean to my mom (not so much to her knowledge) and I guess I was hoping that my sons and I had a more open and honest relationship. I'm going to suggest next time he needs to vent he might write in his journal instead of sharing it with his friends. IDK. I guess if he just called his dad the A-hole it wouldn't have hurt me so bad, because he can be one. I am more of a bitch I think.
Oh, well, you are so right, Cindi. I am having to tone it down quite a bit to keep from showing him what a real A-hole I can be. I just haven't decided if it is a punishable offense or not. Yesterday I simply did not want to be around him, but I think from now on I'll just work his little A$$ off!

Hello to everyone today, hope everyone is feeling better and life is good.:h

LVT, thanks for kicking things off today! Yes, I think some good old fashioned harder than ever work sounds like a great plan. If you run out of yard, I've got extra I could share. All in the interest of teenage personality growth and development don't you know. I know this must hurt. I really do believe it is a passing teenage phase. I cringe when I think about how I treated my Mom at that age.

Cindi, I loved reading your post from yesterday about your weekend with hubby and his comments about it! :h:l Sobriety has an amazing way of improving our relationships, doesn't it? How is everything going with the Bac? (I should go look in the meds section for updates!) How is the job decision / downsizing stuff going?

Hello AFM! Good to see you. Need to go find out what's going on with you too! (sounds like you have a thread going somewhere?)

Hello to all other fabbie abbies today!

I am staying home all day today. Not in bed at this time obviously, but going back there is an option.

Mr. Doggy had a list of specific things to do in the garden while I was gone. He was so busted yesterday when i went out there, and found THE largest zuchhini's I have ever seen in my life. Seriously - I weighed one of them and it is over 5 pounds. And there are 6 of those, and then many others that must be 3 pounds or so. BUSTED. So guys, make a note. If you ignore the garden for 5 days at this time of year, the zukes will give you away! :H I guess I better get busy and make some zuchhini bread.

The appraiser is coming this afternoon as part of our diddly dee thinking about maybe remodeling our 2nd floor. But then all the talk on the news is so bad about the economic outlook - I dunno. I guess we will continue to take things one step at a time and see how things unfold. I will wait to hear from the Universe whether it is my time or not to be done with the pink and yellow bathrooms. (yes, that includes the tubs and toilets)

I'm grateful today that I am NOT hungover in addition to this lousy cold, and saying "alcohol kills germs" as my excuse for drinking today. Happy AFness one and all!

OMG DG!! "Alcohol Kills Germs" was my mantra for years and I totally believed it-through bronchitis, pneumonia, Giardia, you name it. Wow. Now I have CKD and diabetes II. Where was the AL then? Huh? Huh? Not doing it's job obviously!!

I do know about monster Zuccs but I have no one to blame but myself!!

LVT: I wish I could offer some sound advice about your teen son problems but I have no kids of my own except for the dogs and cats. They get timeouts when bad (really) but at least they can't say mean things (that I can hear anyway!!). I guess in this age of cell phones and IMs, you're bound to stumble upon things being thought and said that our parents would never have stumbled upon (unless listening on the other end of the phone). I'm so sorry-I know it hurt. Extra work is probably deserved right now.

Cindi: What a lovely post about your time away with hubby. I hope what he said leaves a glow that never goes away.

Hello to everyone else lurking around. It's still hotter than hell here and my asthma really kicked up today. I didn't have my rescue inhaler with me so had to call the doc for an Rx that I could pick up during lunch. $50 later....
At least I can breath now.
Have a great day everyone and stay cool!!

Hotter than HELL in these parts...............
Good God, we're breaking records :H
The Philly news stations showed video yesterday of our Feb 6 blizzard exactly 5 months ago - what a difference :H:H

Papmom, this weather is bad for everyone's breathing - hope you are OK now!

DG - I love scooping out those huge, overgrown zucchs & stuffing them with a lot of garlic & other tasty goodies

LVT, don't let the kid thing keep you down. I always figured it's a kid's 'job' to irritate his parents!!!!

I have some nice (not too big) embroidery jobs coming in this week - good

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF day.

ooooh overgrown zucchini here please(or courgettes as we call them) I am growing some for the first time - tiny tho and snails have eaten my first one - the gits!

off skating in a bit - really looking forward to it - ate too many biscuits today - all stress related too - still it's only part of one day as my hypno CD tells me - not a total disaster.

I play roller derby so I am skating on quad skates not inline skates (can't do that to save my life) altho i can ice skate.

Great for stress relief hitting other people over on skates, most of team are lovely - bar one manipulative drama queen who is aiming her BS at me for some reason, still out of 68 women 1 is not bad eh!

Well it's day 3 AF and day 4 NF here, feeling good, trying to focus on the moment, practice mindfulness with negative/bad thoughts.

My life is better without alcohol - my depression and anxiety is lessened/virtually goes/I lose weight/ I have more money/I'm more confident.
It's fear of change, fear of being seen to fail, fear of other's disapproval/fear of myself in that 'what If' I can't achieve my goals.

I haven't had (yet) awful disasters in my life as a result of alcohol but there's enough bad stuff creeping in as a result of too much alcohol for me to want to stop/stay stopped.
I feel anxious with even 2 drinks now the next day/feel conscious about being drunk/slurring.I've put on wieght/blown cash/ot had hobbies/made dodgy friendships.

I'm still at the stage where I feel stiff and awkward without al socially at the moment unless v close friends - I got past this last time and felt more confident than with al.
I need to read my old posts to remind me of that.

            HI all,

End of day again, and feeling very tired and ready for bed. I read in a Turkish cookbook about stuffing eggplants and zucchinis with the bits chopped up with cheese, like feta, and of course garlic and lots of olive oil and some tomato. When I have a real kitchen again I hope to give it a try.

DG hope the cold is better tomorrow. Lemon juice - isn't it the cure-all?

Wow Bear roller derby! You are the first person I ever 'met' who skates that! I'm impressed. You must have good balance. I"ve found that skating and AL definitely DO NOT MIX! in any form.

Hi Lav, Papmom, and LV. Not much else to add but hope you are having a nice day.
