And offing bunny heads. Oh wait. That was last year. I am grateful to my neighbors and especially their pit bull. My garden is now surrounded by dogs which is a wonderful thing. Lav, I will pray for more basil in your garden. Peacefully.

I vote Greenie for Queenie. What are you queen of Greenie? The universe? That would be cool.

Woah - queens, headless rabbits, tinky winkys,DOLs - it's all going on here!
my day has been quite dull by comparison - someone I manage has got another job thank god!Inflexible dogmatic but very capable soul she is - not without one final hassle for me a battle about compressed hours - breathe deep and count down the days!

I've got a stinking cold but I have dosed myself up, off for a snooze and a skate later - I dragged myself to work so don't want to miss the bit of the day that's for me!

Day four here - feeling good - well apart from feeling ill (if that makes sense)

OK, here is something I just posted on the July Jammers thread:

OK, not trying to impress anyone or anything but -
I just put 5 lbs. of cherry tomatoes in the dehydrator!!! Organically grown volunteer cherries to boot!
Some of you may remember Mr Lav spent lots of money last summer buying this dehydrator & only played with the thing once or twice. Well, he left it behind when he pulled out of here, I have a key to his garage so I figure it's FINDERS KEEPERS
I cut them in half & laid them out on 5 trays. (It is a 9 tray dehydrator). Set the temp at 105 degrees & the timer for 24 hrs. Probably won't take that long so I will be checking in on them. I'm feeling proud of myself right now!

Not a bad way to fill my afternoon I'd say. BTW, the rabbits around here have absolutely no fear of dogs, humans, deer, the 2 huge sheep that live next door, etc. I'm afraid there is no stopping them.

Bear, I hope your cold gets better soon! I'm on the back side of a summer cold myself and it is no fun. Better than hangovers though. Most things are better than hangovers. I'm going to the dentist tomorrow for that deep type cleaning where they novicane (sp) you. Even that will be better than a hangover. (I think) Congrats on another sober day and a continued great attitude.

LAV!!!! WOO HOO!!! You got the DEHYDRATOR!!! WOW!!! :yougo: I can't wait to fire mine up. I should try some cukes since I have so many and no dill yet. I love snacking on dried stuff. Once you get that thing going you will want to dehydrate everything! I swear!! I made my own raisins last year which were awesome last winter. (didn't last long enough!) Zuke chips were great. This year I'm going to put spicey stufr on 'em. They are good with salsa if you don't want the cals in chips. You got a good deal there! I dehydrated green beans and peppers and anything that wasn't moving for soup.

I got my nails done today. I finally found a nail guy that I really like. He does a good job and does stuff nobody else has ever done. Stuff I'm not to tell the owner about. :H He is from Vietnam. His English is pretty good but with a fairly heavy accent. So I usually get about half or so (I think) of whatever he is chattering about. Today, I think I gathered that he is a crazy gay virgin. :H Could that be right???? My nails are in the "pink and white" style but where the white would be, I have purple glitter. And a design painted on both ring fingers. Totally age inappropriate. I love them. I can hardly wait until Christmas. I had blue little stones there for the San Antonio trip. Next time? Maybe green stones.



Sober life is grand. I used to be so concerned about drinking I would never have taken the time to get my nails done.

How come people who work in nail bars are always Vietnamese? They are here too. I wonder if there's a shortage of nail technicians in Vietnam because they are all working abroad?

Anyhoo, I meant to have an early night but it's now 11.30! I've been surfing beach holidays. I've been booked up for work until the end of Sept, THEN I'm taking a holiday. Somewhere the sea will still be warm enough to swim in. I'm thinking about Turkey but any other suggestions welcome.

Hi friends,

I have read through this entire thread and it is overload.

My nail tech is the owner of his salon. He is Vietnamese. They actually have a pool of money for Vietnamese that want to learn nails and make a living here in the US.

He says they don't do French manicures, they do Vietnamese manicures.

Marshy. I am thinking of you.

A gay, Vietnamese nail tech. Sheesh.

Going to read some more and hope I get that visual out of my mind.
