    July Jamboree ~ Week 4

Here's a list of 'A' words that describe people - let's choose one for August

active agile animated analytical anarchic apathetic adventurous anxious articulate artful artificial asleep assertive attentive attractive audacious adult august authoritarian average awake antiseptic antichrist anonymous angry ancient androgynous amiable angel angular apoplectic apologetic appalling apprehensive

Actually, I don't like any of them except perhaps APOPLECTIC :H:H

      Hi Lav,

We could add: affable, attentive, altruistic, astronomical, and alluring. My list isn't done yet. I'll keep working on it.

Good idea Rusty - I'll bet you come up with a good one!

Chill - my spouse took one of the dogs with him when he left (so he wouldn't feel as lonely as he felt last year when he ran off??). I've been thinking about looking for a replacement - dog that is
My daughter & SIL are dog trainers - think I'll get them to find one suitable for me!

Ugh! I just overcooked my roast beef.

How annoying. I am sober and still burnt it!

                July Jamboree ~ Week 4

                Divine Jammers -
Hello and good night/morning to all. I add my voices to the adorable-ness of your son, Rebirth - what an angelic goal for your sobriety. Thanks all for your understanding of the horse thing for me...it really is about what those beings taught me in that week. It had been years since I had been on a horse before that week, so I am determined to share some spirit time with another one whenever I can manage it.

Thanks Lav for the offer to train me for a chick Mom - I have some beautiful pictures of my friend's Wisconsin farm where she built her own house, raises chickens, raises much of her own food, etc....I will review Chill's notes about posting pics, and will try to get some up here.

Everyone - so glad to hear from all of you, sorry not to name everyone....I am off to points east until August 9th, and do not know what my 'connectivity' will be like, so don't worry if I do not report in often. I just read a lovely quote recently, and would like to leave it as a parting thought for all of us. I count on the strength, intelligence, perspective, and brilliance of you all, so I will not be long without checking in!

"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process, is its own reward." Amelia Earhart (one of my favorite heroines!).

Cheers for the end of the week - and ahem, I love 'august 'itself for all its connotations...but I also like adding amiable, attentive, but of course most prominently 'audacious'.

                  July Jamboree ~ Week 4

                  Good Morning Jammers!

Cyn - Have a great trip, hope you still manage to check in.

Lav - The more I see of men the more I love my dog! I have a book called this full of great quotes - "you dont have to meet your dogs mother before you move in together"
"A dog wont run off with your best friend" :H "dogs look you in the eye when you speak to them" "you dont need to spend hours wondering where your relationship with your dog is going"

ok here are a few August suggestions:-
                  August Angels
                  Active August
                  August Adventure
                  August Already!
                  August Ambush
                  Absolutely August
                  August Appreciation
                  Audacious August
                  August Azaleas
                  or just plain AF August

After my visit home last weekend when I shared some spiritual views with my family I received a card from my dear Sister which read "So glad we decided on the same family! Just hope I meet up with you for another lifetime...." How truely blessed I am to have such a wonderful Sister :h
"In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

                    Good morning everyone

Another quick check in from me before my guests get up. Love all the suggestions for August. August already struck a bell because that's exactly how I feel, where has the summer got to? August appreciation is another good one as I appreciate going into the month AF not starting again.

All you ladies on vacation, enjoy. I wont be able to check in for a while next week but will be thinking of you all.

Lots of interesting thoughts, so will respond.

Chill, my son is 24, but acts about 18. I have to say I really appreciated your comment that he may move out quickly!!! He is unable to support himself, that is the problem. He has not found a job that pays enough. It makes me mad that in the US you can work fulltime and not make a living wage, but that is reality. May he find a job and move out quickly, that is my hope.

Dill, you are lucky to have a close friend of 30 years, she is priceless. Does she still drink alcohol? I have two close friends, only one of 30+ years. Let's face it, unless I make a new friend today and live to be over 80, I will never have a friend like this again.

Lav, it is hard to make new friends at this stage in life. I moved about five years ago, and although I have acquintances from work, no new close friends here after five years. It is hard to meet people and get the relationship going. I need to join something, but what? In the past, a church I joined proved to be a source of fellowship, and eventually, made some good friends there. It seemed that through shared experiences, we formed a bond. But at that time I worked part-time. Now my life seems to be consumed by my work and long hours. Maybe I am making excuses.

Physically, I am feeling great, with healthy eating and smaller portions. And of course staying AF. It seems that when AF, I have so much more control over so many things like my mood and what I put in my mouth.

I like August Already, August Angels, Audacious August.

                      Have a positive AF day.

                        Good Morning Friends,

                        Chill-I vote for AF August.

Cyntree, I loved your quote from Amelia Earhart. I will cut it out and paste it to the fridge.

Must run now, and I'll try to check back in tomorrow. Have a wonderful AF day, everyone.

How about August August or August AF? As Cyn said, "August has its own connotations." So I looked up the definition. I like it.

                          au?gust[ aw g?st ]ADJECTIVE
                          1. dignified and splendid: full of solemn splendor and dignity ( formal )
[ Mid-17th century. Directly or via French < Latin augustus ]
                          au?gust?ly ADVERB

Whatever name we give the thread, I'll be here!

Red, my friend still drinks, but she manages to moderate. She is very supportive of my decision not to drink. She is a nurse by training and a very holistic person. She is very health consious and would encourage me to do anything that is good for my health. And about your son not finding suitable work, neither has mine. These are hard and demoralizing times for young men. The good think for my son is that he is using the GI bill to go back to school. He only manages to get and keep part time work, but because of his service, he has money to go back to school and a small stipend for living arrangements. They are just barely making ends meet though and it breaks my heart to watch him struggle.

Rebirth, your son is adorable. Excellent motivation, I must say. Sorry about the roast beef. I find that I make mistakes sober too and I always chuckle to myself and say, "You'd think I'd been drinking!":H

Cyn, thank you for the quote. It is very inspiring. I just recently watched the movie Amelia with Hillary Swank and Richard Gere. It was very good. Have fun on your trip, but do check in!

Rustop, will you be on a vacation next week? Check in when you can.

                          Sped, where are you?

Lav, Rusty, LBH, Chill, and all who check in, strength and peace.
                          Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                            July Jamboree ~ Week 4

                            Morning Jammers,

Feeling kind of crappy this morning after a rather craptacular night! My own fault I think - too much coffee yesterday. My head was filled with anger & hostility when I went to bed last night so of course I couldn't sleep. My herbal sleep aid & meditation CD didn't help much. I'll get it together today!!!!

Chill, your dog philosophy is really speaking to me right now

Cyn, I do love your Amelia Earhart quote - I will remember that one, thanks!

                            Rustop, Bon Voyage!

Red, I think all of our kids are struggling these days. Both of my kids have college degrees, work their butts off & seem to be just getting by. I have to keep reminding myself that we struggled too during the early years. I think giving them a hand, from time to time is a loving gesture.

Rusty, Sister Dill - hope you are having a good day! I'm wondering if Shelley & LBH are shopping

I like the sound of 'August August'. I think we did AF August last year - didn't we??

OK, time to pull my thoughts together. I cannot go thru the entire day dragging this anger around, not healthy. Wishing everyone a terrific AF Thursday.

                            Lav

Oh cyntree thats just lovely... The fears are paper tigers..... Love that.

Star - I work in retail so I do meet a lot of people through my business. But I generally find it difficult to really bond with someone. I probably have three very close friends amongst the hundreds I know. It’s not easy to click with someone on a spiritual level…

Dill – “you’de think I been drinking”. Ha ha I say that a lot too. I found a bruise on me the other day and didn’t know where it came from. I wasn’t even drinking I thought. But its all good. Usually a discovered bruise would be accompanied with a hangover. At least this one is just a bruise.
