    AF August - Week 1

Star, have a safe journey. Consider keeping a journal of the trip. Since you won’t be able to check in here, perhaps the time could be spent recording what you see and how you are feeling along this special, once in a lifetime journey. You’ll be in my thoughts. Thanks for the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society recommendation. I loved it.

LBH, your dream was hilarious. Lord Birdheart was your hero, which I think is pretty sweet. He must be a source of great strength for you, especially knowing that he himself fought this battle years ago.

Chill, I am with all who think it wise to consult a lawyer. It is always best to know one’s options. I have a friend who was soo good natured and still so in love with her hb when they went through their divorce. She didn’t get a lawyer and she relied on him (the ex) to be fair. She ended up with nothing after all their time together. He ended up pretty well off and with a second wife (the woman he had been cheating with) and child.

Rusty, see if you can find the book Lottery by Patricia Wood for one of your plane trips. It’s a quick and quirky read. About the Solar Storm: I don’t know if there is any real evidence that they affect people in any way, but I just have a feeling that they do. I know that they have an affect on radio waves. My cousin here in southern Ohio is a Ham radio enthusiast. He was able to make contact with someone in Central Africa on Monday!! That was a first for him and he was really excited.

Lav, Peach jam sounds wonderful! We have two peach trees; one is early and one is late season. We have been competing with the raccoons for our early peaches. It has been a battle!! There weren’t many on the tree to begin with because of Spring conditions. The late season tree is loaded! I will be making the canning decisions in mid to late August.

    SPED!!

Has anybody read Clapton? It's Eric Clapton's autobiography and it is very honest and open, especially in regards to his addiction and recovery. I recommend it.

Pride, Pap, Paguy, Patrice, Time, Guitarista, Sooty, Spud, Cyn, Rustop, and all who check in, let’s keep it going! An AF Thursday and unhung Friday to us all.
    Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

      :yay: NO DREAMS LAST NIGHT!!!!!!

Thank God, I was getting seriously sick of them!
My dog woke me at 6 am, but that's OK. I let her out & went back to bed for a while

Looks like we're in for more thunder storms today - oh joy!
As soon as I work my way thru my 'things to do today' list I'm going to take my extra car for inspection. I've kept that older car for my spouse to use when he didn't feel like driving his truck. As nice as that was of me.........I think it's time to unload some dead weight around here :H:H Think I'll put a sale sign on the car & see what happens!

Chill, hope your visit with the lawyer was helpful to you.

      Red, safe travels!

Rusty, you never really know what you can do until you give it a try, right?
I like to think if you can read & comprehend the directions you should be able to do just about anything

Have a great day, I'll be back later.
      Lav

        Amen to that!

Lav, you're so positive with all the changes going on in your life, I really admire that! Thanks!

          AF August - Week 1

          Hi everyone

Just a quick check in. Back from Nice, what a wonderful place, I really enjoyed the few days away. My oldest daughter is spending 2 weeks there in a language school, staying in a hostel. I envy her.

Slept for 13 hours the first night we were there. I obviously needed it as I am very much a morning person and normally awake at my normal time of between 7 and 8 o'clock. Have had a hectic few weeks so it probably all caught up with me. The good news is that I did the trip AF. I did take an antabuse tablet before I went. I knew it would be too hard to sit across the table from hubby drinking wine. It worked and I feel great. In fact I did not miss Al at all apart from those initial few moments when the wine was poured. I will be 49 next birthday so I guess I have the night sweats to look forward to in the not too distant future but hopefully I will it Al free!!!

I will have to catch up on everyone's news. Just wanted to say a quick hello.

            AF August - Week 1

Hello everyone and happy thursday. I seem to have been very busy this week, hence the lack of posting but I am ok and glad to see that we're all staying on the bus.
I'm sorry for those who are having disturbing dreams, they can be so unsettling.
Off to choir later, Mr S is making the evening meal so I'd better go and see if there's anything I can do to help ...
            see you tomorrow

Star - there is a website I found which gives you tips on lucid dreaming ACATA method - Anyone Can Access The Afterlife apparently if you consciously put a pen and paper by your bed your sub conscious will take this in and will be more suseptible to remembering the dream as you wake up. Although i have a notepad in the drawer beside my bed one night I put it out on top and in the morning I remembered the dream!

Lav - Please do all the opposites of the above :H

Dill - I will add CLAPTON to my book list, I love biographies and will enjoy his take on addiction.

Thank you all for your good wishes re my Lawyer visit, he kinda just confirmed all the stuff I already knew but its good to get clarity. Basically its a bit of a sit and wait till property prices rise again and hope my ex can continue to make the payments so we can eventually sell and split anything thats left. I think at that point I will definately relocate back to the Uk where I will find work easier, but for now im a bit stuck.

I answered an ad today for some ironing work and will hear tomorrow if I get it. I spoke to a few gift shops but not speaking the language is going to be a problem. for now I feel comfortable that the roof over my head is safe and so I just need to scrape together some living money. Im enjoying the challenge of seeing what I can do without, when I was in the gift shop my eye automatically went to some candles then I reminded myself they were a luxury!

When I was married I lived the most incredibly glamourous privileged life, living in luxury, travelling round the world 1st class staying in 5 star hotels, driving fancy sports cars, eating in the best restaurants and never having to worry about what I was spending. Now I get to sample the other side of life and its good for me, I am determined to face it with grace and humility even if there are a few self pitying tears now and again.....

Rustop - Welcome back and a BIG congratulations for doing it AF!! Not an easy task in France with all that wine so you should be very proud!

Rustop-your trip to Nice sounds heavenly. I haven't been to that part of France yet. With my business travels, I have been limited to the Paris area.

Hi, Sooty! What kind of choir are you in?

Dill-I will pick up that book. Thank you for the suggestion.

Chill-I admire your attitude about changing your lifestyle. Mature, courageous and clearheaded-kudos.

Pride-great to see you....always enjoying seeing your posts.

Today is my last day of work until next Wednesday. My sister is coming to visit tomorrow and I can't wait to see her. She showers me with love when she comes-so special is she!

                I'll check in later!

Chill, what a fab attitude you do have - so graceful in the face of adversity.

Rustop - I visited Nice with my daughter's French class in 1995. It was so beautiful, I didn't want to leave. Congrats on your AF trip!

Long day over now - time to go to bed!

Dill, I read the Clapton book and thought it was fascinating and sad. What gifts and talentsand what an exciting time to live. Notice his attitudes and relationships when he is using. There is a coldness to him, a detachment. I know this comes with using. I have further comments when you are done.

Well, in a few minutes I am off, up at 3:30 a.m. to catch a plane with two long layovers. Lots of caffeine and minimal food. I am going to buy myself a paperback at the airport bookstore.

Sounds like everyone is holding their own and staying AF. I will too. Be back Monday or Tuesday.

No Clapton tunes Lav - don't think they'd work with a choir somehow I can't imagine our members belting out I shot the Sherrif or Layla.

Dill we are currently doing Mr Sandman, I will survive, From a Distance - the conductor is bringing a new song next week and last night she said she's working on something from Glee - which is apparently a new tv programme that I have never seen ......

As usual its raining again so I'm going to crack on with some housework and make granola - I bought some last week and think I can make some which is just as tasty and less fattening. I've got all the ingredients except cranberries but Mr S going to town soon so he's going to get me some.

Have a really happy Friday everyone

Sooty, three great songs! I especially have used this one for inspiration for quitting al: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBR2G-iI3-I[/video]]YouTube - ‪I Will Survive‬‎ If anyone has time to check it out, it'll get you into a great al beating frame of mind! Soots, Glee is a new show and I haven't watched it either but I have heard that it is really good. I plan on tuning in to it this coming season.

Lav, I am still sleeping fitfully and having lots of dreams but can't recall them when I awake. That's probably for the best because the bits I do remember are not good. Have you had any contact at all with Mr. L since the big talk or are you cutting off contact for the time being? On the garden front: we picked the last of our corn and froze it yesterday. I hate to see it go. Summer is definitely on the wane.

Star, I have already read the Clapton book and would love to hear the rest of your thoughts. See you when you get back.

Rustop, well done on staying AF in France. Taking the antabuse shows your true level of committment. :goodjob:

Sped? I wish you'd check in.

                              AF August - Week 1

                              Good Morning August AF Friends,

I don't have time to write much as I need to get to the gym and then my sister will be arriving for a full day of fun!

Sooty-I wish I could carry a tune-I can't. When I'm at church with my mom, I lip sync. I wish I could see pictures of the choir-sounds progressive with the variety of songs your director recommends.

Dill-I will pick up the Clapton book. Clapton's song, "If I Saw You In Heaven" still chokes me up because it's a song about how his 4-year-old son died when he fell out of a 2nd story window.

Speaking of books, since we are sharing...there was a lovely RN and college professor sitting on the plane next to me laughing out loud reading this paperback by Janet Evanovich called, "Finger Lickin' Fifteen." She says it's really good. How often do you sit on a plane and find someone laughing out loud when they are reading? Answer: NEVER. So it has to be pretty good.

Have a great day AF everyone....will check back with a report of my day with my sister!

                              xoxox

                                Hi everyone

Am still trying to catch up on the posts from when I was away. I too have been having crazy dreams. I tow a horsebox with daughters horse (which I am not comfortable doing but have to) had a dream about my cousin who died last year and I was towing her coffin from my house to where she was buried and had problems reversing and the coffin fell over!! Weird or what? That's just one of the ones I remember, there have been many others in the last week. Must check out that website.

Trying to catch up on laundry etc so have to go. Those of you travelling good luck. Everyone else big hello.
