AF Daily - Monday August 30

    Okay, friends,

I am in Chicago yet once again. It is going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny.

I want to complain but at the same time I am grateful.

I am employed, even if it means leaving my house, my dog, my husband (note the order) and my children and grandchildren. It is difficult for me.

I will be going to an AA meeting tonight. There is one within walking distance.

Later, I will be online and hoping there will be someone here to chat with.

Maybe Rusty and Det (since Dx is at Burning Man) and I can stay busy.

Having a rough day. Reading my Big Book, reading MWO, thinking of my HP and reaching out to friends.

No, I won't drink but I would like to be semi-comfortable in my skin tonight, if you know what I mean. However, if none of the above helps, I will just do it one minute at a time.

Luckily, I have found that one of the above always comes through and helps. I just have to take advantage of the help offered.

For that help, I do want to say "Thank you in advance."

Thank G-d for MWO, my friends here, and AA and my friends there.

Meanwhile, I will not be eating any Snicker things. I have gained a huge amount of weight this year and just can't keep it up. That is another thread and another subject.

    Love,
    Cindi

Hi Cinders. How long are you in Chicago? Good that there is a meeting within walking distance for you. That and MWO and Big Book, etc. - lots of good tools. YOU CAN DO IT. There was a time when I couldn't "not drink" between 8AM and noon. Every day. If I can, you can.

      :l

If you are tempted, just imagine the doggy girl whippin' some :b&d: on ya.

Say it with me now....ONE THING IS FOR SURE......

Hi Cindi - forget the whipping, I'm sending waves of warm and fuzzy thoughts your way to wrap around yourself like a soft down comforter that protects you from all evil.

Actually it would be great if we could all share surplus mojo to even out any deficiencies.

I've managed to lurk a few times but there's still loads to catch up on. I'm back in London tomorrow.

There've been a few stresses and strains over the last few weeks, but overall I'm really pleased. I'm almost done clearing my sister's basement, have cleaned her flat and started painting it. The guy who's supposed to handle her finances is guilty of gross neglect, and I've managed to reach out to various people to work towards getting him replaced. When someone was unable to take on the job, I managed not to take it personally (wow!!). Tonight I managed to get over myself and talk to a person from the past to enlist their help. Yesterday I chatted with a friend whose husband is very poorly with cancer without taking on her enormous anxiety. I'm not immune, but those boundaries are definitely getting stronger, and the mojo is still intact.

        Very weird and wonderful! :goodjob:

I'll be travelling tomorrow. Have a good one, everybody!

          Hello Folks:

What a hectic day for me. Had my appointment with another Orthopedic doc ("orthopod") and he recommends another surgery - more complicated this time. Unfortunately, the tendon in my foot that is damaged is beyond repair at this point so he wants to do a 'tendon transfer'. Basically, they will move the good tendon that controls my 2nd toe to my big toe and the 2nd and 3rd toes will share a tendon. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this would be happening to me this summer... Yikes!

I am having surgery next week and will be in a cast for 2 weeks followed by 4 more weeks in a boot. I will not be able to drive for 6 weeks but should be able to work from home after the cast is removed. My first 2 weeks will basically be confined to bed with my foot elevated. I have NEVER had to do anything like this before. It will certainly be a test of my patience.

I have to admit that if this was happening in my non-AF days, I would be drinking up a storm right now - trying to get in as much drinking as I can now before my surgery! But, I can't tell you how thankful I am to have found the MWO community to help keep me motivated and driven to remain AF.

One thing for sure - I know I'll keep busy reading about all of the goings on here on the AF Daily thread - you are all so friendly and supportive!

Hope you are all having a good day and try to have a restful evening.....

Hey John-wow!! that is a doozy of a surgery you got planned!! Sounds like it will do the trick however, especially with some high quality rehab. I will be thinking of you daily and you know that you can PM any of us any time plus the chat room is always open. hey, on the bright side, you'll get 2 weeks of Oprah's last season!! don't cancel your cable right now, that's for sure!!:H
We'll try our best to keep your spirits up. You have someone at home that can wait on you hand and Toe and take care of little doggie, right?
You'll be entering this surgery with a good mindset and a healthy body. It will all be good.

Pamina-good to see you! Wow-you've been through the wringer too with all that you've had to deal with lately. Be very proud of how you've dealt with it. Those TBGP really do come in handy don't they?

OK, gonna hop on over and see if anyone has started the Tue thread yet.
