      AF Daily - Monday 9/13

      Hi all,

That pesky thing called gainful employment is not allowing me to check in as frequently as I'd like right now, but I'm sticking my head in the door to wish everyone a fabulous AF day, full of humor, gratitude, and color. Cloudy, cool, and damp in New England this morning; not my favorite weather, particularly for a Monday, but my kids come home from their dad's today, and having them around is always grounding.

Feeling an odd mix of happy about 60 days AF, sad about K9's slip, and wistful in that weird way only fall inspires. Underneath it all, so happy I can still feel anything besides anxious for that next drink.

Off to carpe the diem. xoxo Pride

        GM Abbers!

Cool & dry here this morning nice
Today's plan is work this morning, continuing yard sale prep this afternoon & evening - oh joy!
I will be happy, grateful, thrilled, etc. when it is over. Who knew there was so much stuff packed in this house? The problem is I have a huge basement that provides too much storage space. Each of my kids have a desinated space down there for their stuff, then there's all of my stuff. I have unpacked boxes of glassware, crystal, china, etc that I haven't touched since moving in here 7 years ago. Most of it was stuff that belonged to my Mom that I dragged along with me but didn't ever use!

OK, time to get busy. Wishing everyone a fantastic AF Monday.

          Hello friends,

Thanks for starting us off and for that telecast link Greenie. I printed the page and hopefully will have time to take it in.

Lav--I would love to come to your garage sale! Of course I don't NEED anything, but love a great bargain. I don't have a lot of storage and that is a good thing I guess at times. My sister is getting rid of some of her collections as well. Some glassware and linens. I told her to save me a piece or two, but she better just sell the rest.

Hi G and Pride. Congrats on the 60 days Pride! That is a true milestone I believe.:goodjob:

Another busy week ahead for me. Things are winding down at the cemetery will fall quickly approaching, but a full week of mowing this week. Both boys have football games, and I got behind on my household/garden/yard chores this weekend. The camper is home so it will need to be cleaned and winterized. The garden is producing, so I imagine there is some canning in my future as well. I keep telling myself when I am old I will have lots of time to just sit and relax, maybe read a book or do some embroidery.:H

I'd like to get caught up so I can go spend a little time with my sis this weekend. Good news! She is getting a new hip on Thursday! I am so happy for her. She is sure that if that hip pain is gone she can get stronger and recover and get her life back. Thank you all so much for the healing energy and prayers for Terry!:l

I better get busy. Have a great af week all! :h

            Happy Monday everyone,

Greenie thanks for starting us off. Hi G!

PRide congratulations on 60 days AF. Yep gainful employment is pesky but a good thing! We need more of that going around these days. I read about K9's fall too - it's hard to stick with a plan if your plan is not well defined.

Lav I hear ya on the basement - mine is full too. And full of dust.

Hi LV - great news on your sister getting a new hip. Hip pain is supposed to be one of the worst things, really defeating. Glad for her and you!

Top of the un-hung Monday ABerooooos!

Pride, kudos on your AF time! slips suck but we can't let them drag us down. I had 2 years and 7 months sober and blew it just a week ago. yes I was devastated but I realize I have to let that go and move right back into my AF lifestyle that I know and love. I hope that anyone that has a slip/relapse etc will do the same (our dear K9lover for example I'm hoping the best for). we may lose a round here and there but we keep fighting.

Lavande, I love yard sales! have fun

              off to see the wizard....

              be well

Mo, I have enough to say for both of us. All of us here, in fact.

Actually, today I won't say much other than HI!! It was Mary Kay day at Curves and I actually sold some stuff.

I am getting a fabulous opportunity to employ some of my newfound AA discovered skills such as patience, keeping my mouth shut, and a few other goodies with my project team (well, one of them in particular) for the community leadership school.

Mr. D dug up a bunch of over sized carrots from the garden over the weekend so I made him some carrot cup cakes today. They came out pretty good even though it was a weight watchers "shave the points" version. Now I'm going to take advantage of our bedroom being in the living room (for the remodel) and watch some fabulous something or other on the BIG screen. I :h Netflix.

And I :h all of you!!!!! Nightie night one and all. One thing is for sure....AL would taste HORRID with carrot cup cakes so I'm not havin' any AL today. Lav, are you harvesting carrots?? My applesauce tastes a lot like apple pie filling. Yum yum yum. Which reminds me...any takers for some sweet potato garlic jam? It comes with a free jar of applesauce for a limited time only. Get your orders in now.

The weedeater has this absolutely incredible feature that serves as a guide for edging. No gouging, no chunks of concrete flying, no pieces of the "string" zinging me. I thought it was for hanging it up when not in use ~ until I read the instructions today. :H:H 2 feckin' years I've struggled with that thing. SOBER!! LMAO!!

                          AF Daily - Monday 9/13

                          Hello Abbers!!

I am in Chicago again. :-(

I know, many people love being in Chicago and it is a wonderful city. I do appreciate it. I really do. I just hate being alone and, oh heck, I'll just say it, at RISK!!

I stay on an even keel when I am at home and know hubby is coming home and I have friends and family I can reach out to during the day. Out of town is the old "well, no one will know" thing happening.

I keep praying for a stay at home job with my company but it is not happening. This economy is not helping. I am afraid if I keep praying for the stay at home thing, it will happen. Which would mean no money. :-)

Gaia, "the best laid plans of mice and men." While one is sober and doing well, it seems so easy. Mags and I talk every day. She is my non-AA sponsor. (She hates AA but doesn't give me grief because I love it.) However, even after 5+ years sober, she will say in a heartbeat that she is just one breath away from picking up again. You may be one of the people who set it down and never picks up again. I hope so.

But, DG, Det, Mags (in a past life), Greenie, myself, K9, etc, have all failed from time to time, despite good plans. Every once in a while our brains say, "Okay, change of plans." and unfortunately, sometimes we do that.

This battle is not easy, it is lifelong.

I agree with Det. It does no good to beat yourself up when you "slip." However, once we relapse, it can be very difficult to get back to the plan. What we have to do is smile, forge ahead knowing the sober life is truly the best life and swat those thoughts away.

Just my thoughts about this whole "slip"/relapse thing. It happens to the best of us and the worst of us. What matters is that we only have one day sober and that is today. The rest is just gravy.

                          Love to all.

                          Cindi

ps For those who know Mags from MWO, she says, "hi!!"
