    September Serenity - week 3

First off, special wishes to our birthday girl, Chill! Hope you are having a fabulous day today!! :bday3:

Rusty - I LOVE Nashville. Lived there for 18 months about 15 years ago. Such beautiful countryside with lush green rolling hills. IMO, central Tennessee is by far the most beautiful part of the state. Hope you get to see some of the outlying areas while you are there.

Mr. G - or, should we say, 'Mr. Talented G' - very impressive music talent! Thanks for sharing with us.

Rustop - judgemental friends can be very challenging to deal with. It can create a real barrier that makes it very difficult to share honestly. Good luck with that one.

Sped - how did your marathon go yesterday??

Yes, today is my BIG day. I will be sliding down the stairs in about an hour from now to venture outside for the first time in 2 weeks! Have to admit that I have a little bit of apprehension waiting to hear what the surgeon has to say. Trying to stay POSITIVE.

Greetings to Star, Cyn, Rebirth, Dill, Papmom, Sooty and all who follow today. Have a great AF Monday everyone!

        September Serenity - week 3

        Good morning,
arghhhhhh! Bad news about my marathon training. Several years ago I was diagnosed with a neuroma in my foot, a benign growth on a nerve. I don't even know it's there until I run 15 miles and then it hurts like hell. Yesterday I ran 23 and the last 8 were excruciating, and hot and way too sunny and uphill. Am making an appointment with a podiatrist this morning. It's not worth it to me to hurt that much.

Happy birthday, Chill. Enjoy your family. I love to see adult children staying close to their parents, enjoying their company. That's the kind of relationship I want with my sons.

Rustop, am so impressed that you could stay in bed until 11:00. I don't think I have ever done that in my entire life. I am a crack of dawn person.

Star, sorry about your lapse. It sucks doesn't it. Every time I think about my little drinking escapade in August, I just cringe. It makes me wonder why I would ever engage in something that makes me so utterly miserable.

Rusty, totally agree, that arrogant holier that thou attitude that you get from "reformed" people is so hard to take. Must confess I can become one of those people when it comes to smoking. Enjoy Tennessee. Too bad about the 90's. Welcome to my world.

Lav, cute chix pix! Horse manure...it's so much better than droppings(?) from dogs and cats. I always think of it as lawn fertilizer. Congrats on your garage sale. What's your next project?

        John, good luck today.

        Good Monday everyone.

Thanks for all the support guys, you are the best. This friend is not 'reformed', just never really drank. She had an epiliptic fit as a teenager and started off being afraid of alcohol and now has adopted a holier than thou attitude towards it. As a nurse I would have expected her to be more open minded but her attitude is 'alco's have a choice, they can do something about it'. I suppose that is true, just wish it were that easy! Dealing with somebody with that attitude has taught me a lesson, not to be judgemental of others, we never know what they are going through.

Rusty - trust your instinct, if it is telling you not to get involved face to face then follow it.

Thank's folk's for the compliment's re my music. It's all humble, small time stuff really, just whipped up in my bedroom, but it's a joy for me to finally be able to put it up on the net and share with the world, for whatever that's worth, and folk's here have been asking for it, so.....
Rusty, there's a link to a couple of songs over on the 'musical mystery train' music thread here, a couple of pages back. It's nothing flash.

I think meeting someone from here, or any site, has to be a 2 way street, doesn't it Rusty? If you aren't comfortable, i say don't do it. It must be a 2 way feeling and agreement really, for me anyway. None of this 'one way traffic' stuff. What's the rush also? You might feel more comfortable meeting down the track a bit. The other person will understand totally, and won't put pressure on you at all, if they're fair and decent.

            Best wishes all.

Shelley-sooo sorry about your injury! OUCH! You must have been in agony! How are you going to run the marathon with that growth on your foot?! Will send you a PM in a bit.

Rustop-thank you for your support. I think I might just follow your advice. And I agree with you...Shelley brought up smoking and I've never smoked but all 4 of my siblings and my parents smoked and even though I think it's a disgusting habit, I can so imagine how addictive it would be....and how HARD it is to quit. I hear it's even tougher than drinking. Can't imagine that at all, but I have empathy for people who want to quit smoking and are struggling. I so admire people who do...everyone in my family quit except two of my brothers. Rustop, you are a nurse, too? Wow, so that makes you, Lav, and Pap nurses. Well, imagine all the money the rest of us will save on doctors' visits when we have all of you!:H We should change this thread's name to The Lucky Thread.

Lav-Mr. Lav is back to his odd moods? Too old to have male PMS, I guess. So sorry for you. Hope you enjoy your day with EB and DIL.

Must get to work. Going to a Toyota supplier today. Nice people!

                        September Serenity - week 3

Hello Hello Everyone!! got back from my weekend of agilty late last nite (for me anyway!!), had early MD appt, lunch and now catching up on the threads. BTW, I have Mr. G's music playing while I read and post. I too am in love but way to old for our talented guy so I will let Rusty and RB fight over him!! BTW-I finally got the meaning behind Starting Over Blues. Brilliant!! I can be a little dense sometimes :H. Has anyone listened to the other 2 songs? Pretty darn awesome!!

Chill!! Happy belated birthday!! I hope you are having a fabulous time with your family! The pics of your birthday lunch were great. You look fabulous all tanned and smiling. I just know you are going to be OK!!

Star-please don't beat yourself up over your slip. We are here for you and you will attain your goal-it's Progress, not Perfection, right?

Rustop-I'm so sorry you have a non supportive friend (although she doesn't know that's what she is). I don't have anyone to talk to about this face to face either but I sure am glad I have you guys!!

Rusty-hope your visit with the Toyota guys goes well. Tell us all about it and Tennesee!

Cyn-hope the moving/selling preps are going well. Don't envy you but yet dream of the day I will be in your shoes.

Spedteach-so sorry about the foot! Hope the appt went well and that you got better news than you thought.

John-how did the MD appt go? Did you make it down the stairs in one piece?

So my weekend went very well. The venue where the trial was held was lovely and the trial itself was very well run. The weather cooperated both days-not too hot, not too cold, cloud cover and no rain!! We had 4 great runs-Qs in all 4 and 2 first places. Couldn't be happier!! Met some very nice people who I hope to meet up again with at future trials. The photos from the day are up and here are the links to the photographer's website. Koby's pics are as follows:

I'm going to order 2 pics but can't quite decide which ones they are all so good. This guy is very talented (the photographer). If you want to help me choose, feel free!!

I'm on vacation this week and there is so much I want to get done I have no idea where to start!! I guess I'll have to make a list.

Hope I didn't miss anyone-I had 4 pages to catch up on!! Have a great day everyone!!

                          Evening Guys

Papmom - Wow! the photos are amazing, i can see the problem in choosing from them, i would want them all! You sound in good spirits, enjoy your vacation.

Paguy - I hope it all went well at the Docs and you are whooping it up & down these stairs!

Sped - you are one tough lady running 8 miles with an injury, I hope its not going to stop you competing in the marathon. Im also the worst reformed smoker on the planet! I quit 14 years ago and really struggle to be around smokers.

Rusty - like Mr G says meeting anyone from a site is a 2 way thing and if you are uncomfortable in any way then dont do it!! I formed a very close relationship with someone when I 1st joined MWO, we shared the same quit date and I actually went over to Boston to stay with him in May. We shared such a life changing time and there will ALWAYS be a special place in my heart for him. He is a friend for life and we connected immediately.

I have also made great friends on the army thread and a crowd of us are meeting up for a weekend in October. I have the most amazing friends in my "real" world but my life has changed in every way and I crave the company of others who are AF and particularly ones who have an understanding of what I have been through. I really want to cultivate a new circle of friends as I no longer want to do the same things as a lot of my drinking buddies.

I have just been for a fab massage which was a present from my girlfriends and im having my fav food for dinner, sushi! Then its some tv with Mum & Dad. A far cry from last year when I drank myself senseless and was ill for days. This is my 1st AF birthday in my adult life and not nearly as daunting as I had thought, in fact its a joy to remember my day and know I will wake up tomorrow feeling good

                            September Serenity - week 3

                            Good Evening Folks:

Things went well for me today. Managed to get down the stairs just fine and traveled into the city to see the doc. Cast came off, sutures (staples) came out and the doc says he can feel that the tendon is intact so that was definitely good news. I decided to go with a fiberglass cast for the next 4 weeks ? it?s the more conservative approach. Still have to be non-weight bearing for 4 more weeks and then the physical therapy will begin. Back to work for me on Wednesday ? fortunately (or unfortunately!) I can work from home when necessary.

Chill ? sounds like you had a delightful birthday celebration with your friends and family. Let them pamper you- it?s your special day! :l

Sped ? sorry to hear of your neuroma flare-up. Ouch! I hope it doesn?t interfere with your marathon training. Congrats on the 23 mile training run! :goodjob:

Papmom ? I vote for pics 25 and 801. What beautiful shots and congrats on your placements. Enjoy your week of vacation ? it will pass by quicker than a flash!

Rusty, Rustop, Lav, Greenie, G, Star, Dill, Cyn, Rebirth and everyone else that may follow ? hope you have a great evening!
