September Serenity - week 3
Chill I like it but I dont have green fingers! All my houseplants die on me. But I am trying this time because I love beautiful gardens. I just buy another plant if it dies..Be strong-

September Serenity - week 3
Good Evening Serene Friends,
John-I have just recently taken up flower arranging. The floral manager at my local grocery store is giving me lessons. Fresh flowers in my home are very soothing to me so I love creating different types of bouquets, but favor lillies, like the one Star uses as her avatar. Two more days to go....good for you! How was your visit with your friends?
Star-how did the Amish noodles turn out? What you were planning to cook sounded fabulous.
Shelley-good luck on the 20-mile run! I can't believe the marathon is only a month away.
Lav-I hope the yard sale went well and the weather was good so you got lots of happy buyers.
Sooty-yes, being on a boat in calmer waters sounds good to me!
Rebirth-good for you that you worked in your garden....my sister finds it relaxing. I, however, do not. When I was growing up, we lived on a 3 1/2 acres of land and I was always mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, etc., and I told myself that when I was on my own, I'd be damned if I pulled another weed in my life. I live in a condo and never have to worry about that!:H
Chill-How old will you be, dear? Do you have any birthday plans?
A warm and cheery hello to Cyn, Papmom, Rustop, Dill and everyone I may have missed!
Well, friends I'm off to a party in my condo complex....I've been looking forward to it for weeks. Tomorrow, I leave for Nashville, Tennessee. I am not a country music fan but have very fond memories of eating dinner during the Christmas holidays at The Opryland Hotel.
Have a wonderful, peaceful, AF Saturday evening. Thanks again to all of you for your kind thoughts, words and deeds.
Love,
Rusty

Evening Rusty, your off again on your travels! I use to travel a lot and I really miss it.
My fav flowers are pink lillies too, I love the strong scented ones!
I'm going to be 46 on monday and no I haven't any real plans. My parents arrive here tomorrow from Scotland and are staying with me for 2 weeks. I leave next Thursday for a long weekend in UK visiting a friend and they will be here to dogsit for me. When I get back my two sisters then arrive too so it's going to be a busy few weeks. It will be challenging for me to be with other people constantly as I so love my solitude but I'm determined to be at peace with it as I'm becoming too reclusive....."In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

September Serenity - week 3
I'm totally exhausted but I survived the yard sale :H
The weather was just perfect, we had a good turnout including some local Amish. We directed the cars to park on the front yard (there is nowhere to park on these country roads). The Amish left their horse & buggy on the road (tied up the horses to our mailbox). I'm grateful for that because I wasn't in the mood for cleaning up horse poop :H
We successfully unloaded a lot of stuff, dragged just a bit back into the house & the rest is destined for donation. I'm seriously tired due to the fact that my grandson & his mom stayed overnight - but he woke up at 3 am in the mood to talk & play. He finally settled down again & then the alarm went off at 5:15 am. I will sleep well tonight!
Chill, I think it's nice that you're having your family visit. I hope you enjoy your time together. My parents are long gone & my 3 brothers live very far away, I never see them. I really feel like an orphan anymore.
rebirth, gardening can be fun - I have better success with my outside plants than with my houseplants. Keep at it, you'll get the hang of it. You can research much about gardening on the internet re plants that will thrive in your location.
Rusty, good to see you hanging in with us Don't forget, if anyone ever gives you trouble again just send them to me for a big dose of Lavan-ittude :H
Greetings to Dill, Red, cyn, rustop, John, G, & everyone.......my brain can't come up with anymore names at the moment.
Have a great night one & all.

September Serenity - week 3
Sounds like everyone had a good Saturday. I'm pooped - have someone coming to look at the house tomorrow, a month before we are putting it on the market(!) so I tried to be superwoman and get some major things done. Alas, the spirit was willing but the body weak...I have to crash. I have been having major flare-ups with my fibromyalgia, and last night my HB had to wake me up from a nightmare...OK, so maybe I am a little stressed. However, this too shall pass. Chill - do you know the Louise Hay affirmation - 'All the changes in life that lie before me are positive, and I am safe'. I'm trying to say that hourly!
Good night/good morning. Wishing everyone serene Sun - day. (Sped - 20 miles sounds like the way to go - take care of yourself tomorrow!) Cheers -to the light

September Serenity - week 3
Well, I'm up and ready to go. Still trying to figure out how to just do 20 miles rather than 26. Did a little research last night and very few people recommend running that far for a training run. Guess at some point I will just turn around and start running the other way.
Got a lot done yesterday. I even went out and bought a dress. Now I have 2 dresses. That's progress. LBH came over in the afternoon to sit on the porch, drink iced tea and ruminate about things in life.
Okay folks, it's show time. Imagining how I am going to feel a month from now the morning before the real marathon. Nervous!!!!

Sooty - I hope you made it to the gym, my body is aching from the cycle yesterday, im feeling battered and bruised but in a good way.
Sped - Im nervous for you! I only ever did a half marathon and that for me was a huge achievement. Love the thought of you and LBH sitting on the porch drinking iced tea!!
Lav - I hope you slept well. Despite being exhausted last night I slept very badly as I have things going on in my head but good things and I guess Im just excited about seeing my folks....
Have a peaceful positive Sunday Guys....."In the depths of winter I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer ."

September Serenity - week 3
Good Morning Friends,
The start of another week-pretty soon it will be Thanksgiving-YIKES! The party last night was absolutely lovely. I got to know some of my neighbors a little bit and found they are really nice people. I plan on having a Christmas party and inviting them.
Shelley-good luck with your run today. I admire you! I was in a running club for years and really enjoyed it. I am amazed at how fit some people in their 70s are! We had a triathlon here a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe the men and women who are 20 years older than I am that have the bodies of 30 year-olds.
Lav-so glad the yard sale went well and you must be relieved to have it over with. Your picture of the Amish tying their horses up to your mailbox made me remember fondly my trips to Lancaster, PA. A huge Mennonite and Amish population there.
Cyntree-I don't think I heard why you are selling your house? Are you moving to a different state/city?
Sooty-kudos to you for being so diligent with your exercise routine. A Sunday afternoon spent at the library sounds heavenly to me.
Chill-enjoy the visit with your friend, parents and sister. It will be good to take your mind off your stressful financial situation for a bit....you can come back from your holiday rested and refreshed.
Hello to Star, LBH, John, G, Papmom, Rustop, Dill and anyone I may have forgotten-have a wonderful AF Sunday!

September Serenity - week 3
Bad news. At dinner last night I had some drinks, and have broken my AF resolve. Did not get drunk but it doesn't matter. Drinking is not something I want to do and for some stupid reason I caved. I had to be honest. Otherwise, what is the point of posting on this thread or any other. So, I am starting Day 1 again and my short term plan is ODAT, long term is 30 days, then the rest of my life. I realize it is upsetting to hear someone screwed up, so anyone struggling, do not let my stupidity negatively influence you. That is not my intention. I feel that I have let myself down, and everyone else too. Am asking for forgiveness and support.
It is just hard to understand when I have been feeling so good, mood pretty stable, physically things are going well, except for some hot flashes that started up again this week. No negatiave reason, and I think that is the danger.....I have to be aware and not forget where I have been.
I am posting the apple crock pot recipe Dill shared originally. It is awesome.
3 lbs. apples, peeled, cored and sliced.
Mix together:
1 tsp cinnamon
dash nutmeg
3 tblsp. cornstarch
1 cup sugar (or splenda)
2 tablespoons butter - to dot
Place apples in the crock pot, stir in dry ingredients, top with butter, cook on low for 4-6 hours.Formerly known as redhibiscus

Hi Stargazer,
The positive out of this sounds like it is a confirmation to you of your relationship with alcohol, and a plan to move ahead? That drinking experience may have just saved your life.
Bravo!

Star - I echo what Chill said. Everyone of us has been in your shoes. We are not here to be judgmental. We are here to support one another. I understand how you feel and your disappointment but the good news is that you are taking immediate action - this is part of the process. You hang in there - we are all here with you :l
I know all of you must be tired of listening to me lament about my confinement to bed over the past couple of weeks - please bear with me if I am coming off a bit self-indulgent! Today is my last day in bed - I go to the doctor's tomorrow - I am near the finish line! :clapping2:
I am planning to spend this serene Sunday taking a nice sponge bath and maybe having Mr. Partner give me a back massage. Actually, I would be very grateful to have someone just moderately pound on my back!!
Had a nice visit with some friends last night. Thank goodness they did not bring any sweets with them - I mentioned on another thread that I wolfed down a box of chocolate covered pretzels that someone gave me last week. I don't need a repeat of that! :H
Lav - congratulations on your successful yard sale and even more, that you didn't have to clean up after the horses! :H:H
Sped - I am sure you are already running by now so I am sending you good luck vibes. Today there is a half-marathon race being run in Philadelphia which I was supposed to be in. It's a beautiful morning for a run!!
Sooty - hope you made it to the gym today!
Greetings Rusty, Rustop, Dill, Chill, G, Rebirth, Papmom, Cyn and anyone else I may have missed...
Hope you and all that follow today have a fantastic Sunday!John
