September Serenity - week 4

Rebirth ? CONGRATULATIONS on your senior status! You are too funny ? I chuckled when I saw your countdown. It was like watching the crystal ball drop in Times Square on New Year?s Eve.

I had a very frustrating afternoon yesterday. In retrospect, now that I can look back, I have to ask myself why I got so worked up. My doctor?s office called to postpone my next appointment from a Friday to a Monday. What it means is that I?ll have to be in my cast for 3 more days. At the time, I was SO upset. This all goes back to my perfectionist tendencies and what happens when my expectations are shattered. Interesting, when I hung up the phone after I received the call, my immediate reaction was ?I need a drink!? I guess my internal programming that triggers that response will always be there. Thank goodness I was able to keep things in check and not act on the trigger. This is just another reminder that I always have to keep a watchful eye and be prepared to take action at a moment?s notice.

It looks like it is going to be a very wet and dreary last day of September here on the East coast. Good day to be inside working!

I totally overslept but it's not my fault - it's dark & raining hard here :H

Dill, my virtual twin sis - your pics look exactly like my 'neighborhood'. Couldn't do any walking myself yesterday due to our friendly farmer (just down the road) fertilizing his fields..........the smell was incredibly strong, made my eyes water & somewhat nauseous - yuck!

Dill- That’s great how you are changing your thinking in relation to drinking. Weekends use to trigger me off. As soon as Friday came I had to have a drink. The mind is powerful. The oddest thing is that I gave up on a Friday. I remember that day clearly. It was the day my life changed dramatically. I loved your pictures! It’s so nice to see different parts of the world don’t you think?

Lav- I cant keep up with your abbreviations. I still don’t know what YB means?? I keep thinking yard boy now. TBGP’s So what does that mean?

Chill – do you think you were a gypsy in previous life? I have lived in five different countries so far and love to travel. Seems like you are similar?


Hi LBH- Glad that you and Chill are on his side cause I need to stop being so suspicious of men. I am sure he is saying the truth. Forgive me as it was the internet dating that ruined my trust. I was an innocent thing before.

John – I still get moments of “I need a drink”. I fast forward the clock. If I take that one drink I know what will happen with me…I would be off buying more boos and pretty soon I am drinking every day and getting drunk on the weekends..Sleeping my hangover off on a Sunday, ignoring my son, my business, my life. Dear me I cant go back there. I also have to keep a watchful eye and keep myself mentally prepared but it’s a battle worth fighting. x

Star, I have been WAY too trusting all my life. It's come back to haunt me in more ways than one. I am not going to ignore red flags when I see them, and I am seeing them in this guy. I have to trust my gut on this one. He wants to reschedule for next week and I think I'll just tell him no.

PA-Sorry you're going to be in a cast longer than you thought. Good for you that you fought off the beast!

September Serenity - week 4

Hey everybody,
Wanted to check in before I got going here on my multiple trips to the airport.
Had the most wonderful day yesterday. My son and I went on a 4 hour hike in the mountains. So good for both of us to get away from wedding madness. Great conversation about marriage, siblings, love, religion. Reminisced about family vacations, elementary school teachers, cats present and past.

Great sit down dinner with members of both families. After dinner my son and his fiance rolled up the living room rug and practiced their wedding dance. Here are these 2 geeky biochemistry grad students, madly in love with each other, practicing the salsa dance steps they had learned last week in a dance class. They were so caring with one another and so cute. It was a moment I will cherish.

Chill, I think you should do a monthly recap every month. It was wonderful. I also appreciated your contrasting GB with Portugal. I moved to New Mexico from Chicago where I thought I was going to die of urban living.

Rusty, that is too bad about the date. Will you cross paths with this guy again?

Lav, I envy your rain, probably as much as you'd envy my sunshine. At least it won't be almost 90 in PA. Feel like I've angered the gods and summer will be everlasting regardless of the date or season.

Dill, your landscape looks just like my son's in Indiana.

Star, I think about everything I put in my mouth. What I eat does affect the way I feel. There are lots of foods I won't eat anymore, like White Castle hamburgers. I used to eat them every time I went back to the midwest. No more WC's for me. I'm lucky now that I work part time that I can cook a lot of stuff from scratch.

PA, I think you are doing a remarkable job being housebound. Know when I was in that situation after surgery, I drank for weeks. Not fun at all.
And Dill, for years everytime my husband went out of town, it was time to drink around the clock.

I am so happy to be going into this wedding knowing I wil not drink (thank you antabuse).

PA, it's so great that you didn't allow your default mode to take over. That is yet another hurdle on the road to making new internal connections. It's really hard to deal with disappointments like that.

Sped, thanks for sharing about your moments with your son. It is very moving to read about. What an emotional roller coaster you are on! Keep the antabuse handy and don't miss a minute of this wonderful time.

Rusty, I watched the news last night and they had a segment on about the terror threat levels in France, UK and really, all over Europe. I hope they get it under control before you go.

Dill - Thats a good idea! I am going to get my camera out and take some pictures to show you guys. The country side is really quaint where I live. I will try at the weekend.

Sped that was touching to hear your son and fiance so in love. It reminded me of when I first fell in love. It was like the films..unfortunately I have become a realist as I am getting older. A bit more skeptical, a bit more untrusting. I think what has chnaged is that I love myself more than my partner and before it was the other way around.

Rusty - you seem intuitive so follow your gut instinct. Mine has never failed me in the past ten years. If it smells wrong then something is definitely not right for you? I use to dye my hair blue when I was younger. it didnt show up so I bleached it and dyed it purple. My mum was not happy!

Ugh I am starving. Been ever so good today with my diet and exercise. But my tummy is rumbling...think I will say goodnight and read a book.

YB also stand's for 'Yo bitch'. I'm sure Mr. Lav loves that one! Love it myself. I'm going to call my male mates that this weekend. Will have to get a camera happening myself. I wonder what the quality of my phone pic's would be like, not that i've taken any yet. One way to find out.
