    MWO Meetup??

    You will probably think I am kidding, but I'm really not.

    This would totally rock in Februaly 2011

    I'm seriously thinking about savin' up my pennies. Would anyone else think about it?

    Wow! I never new there was such a thing. But that's great to know! The only problem is that I'm not able to take time in February. I'll save that site. Thanks DG!

      This one happens every October. Wish I was going to be there next month! Maybe next year!

        DG - I had no idea there was just a thing as a sober vacation, how amazing!
        I have always wanted to go to Mexico and it sounds fantastic, financially for me I'm afraid it's out of the question but if my situation changes I would definitely be up for something like this....

            DG - I've had my eye on this Mexico vacation for a couple of months now. I am seriously considering it and plan to use the money I've been saving by not drinking to help pay for it. I have been to a different Club Med resort in Mexico before and it was spectacular.

              We JUST booked one to a Cozumel all-inclusive for the end of October; about the same price, but the free booze will be flowing. I would very much have preferred this. Never even knew there was such a thing (of course, until a couple of months ago I wouldn't have looked...) ; )

                I too was at a different club med in Mexico and I had a blast! Can't do it until we get our house built and go to Ireland at least once though.

                  Umm, I think we need to save more than pennies however!! Looks great-not in the cards for me $$ wise I'm afraid.

                    Pride, that is too bad. Some people on the plane to San Antonio were talking like they go nearly every year. They said it's FABULOUS. Maybe next year!!!! I admire your bravery heading into a booze flowing situation. I don't think I'm ready for that. Of all the little silly "thoughts" that pass through my head, that "but nobody would know" one re: vacations is popular (with the committee in my head anyway).

                    PAGuy, let's stay in touch about February. I was thinking "oh we can't afford for me to go to that.." but like you said, I save a bundle not drinking. If I pay a deposit and then start socking a little away every month, it could be doable.

                      This will be the first AF vacation of my adult life, DG. How ironic that the booze will be free now that I don't drink it.

                      My fiance will be with me, who knows I've opted to quit entirely and supports it, and I'm still in the "alcohol isn't a reward, it's a loaded gun" mode that's carried me along so far. This will DEFINITELY be a test of the depth of that outlook!

                      Is there a web site somewhere for sober vacation options? Weeking hiking trips or ski weekends that are relatively inexpensive and easy to arrange on short notice would be great.

                        MWO Meetup??

                        It seems there are a few different outfits that focus on various sober trips. If you google "sober vacations" some of them come up. I think there are more out there flying below the radar. As an example, there was a Key West trip last spring that looked really fun but I don't think it would have been found through a simple google. I'll try to keep my eyes out and when I come across anything I try to post about it here.

                          DG I think this is fantastic! I never in my wildest dreams thought such vacations existed...... How wonderful to be surrounded by like minded people, I love it!

                            Well well well,

                            I went to this Club Med in the late '80's as a young thing in the days when Club Med had no room keys! Imagine the liability involved in that!

                            Anyway the location of this club is fabulous. It is so beautiful how the sun sets and lights up a crescent of mountains. I remember there was lots of tennis, riding, and the sailing/windsurfing conditions were good. With the renovations it should be great.
