If only we hadn't thrown out all those empties in black plastic trash bags, but redeemed them. We'd be millionaires!

AMEN. I hate to think about how much "land fill" I contributed over the years....

        Ah DG,

I'll be happy to join you but...........
        Can I bring 25 chickens?
        Can I bring my grandson?
Can I be home for the birth of my daughter's first baby in February?

In other words, I don't think I can make it to Mexico with you. Sounds like a wonderful trip though

                    Hi All
Dg I saw this and never realized they had vacations like this. I can't work in this one but will be looking at this as a nice alternative in the future. Especially club med vacations which I have gone to in the past but during my al days. Thought i wouldn't be going their again. Not worried about my recovery just don't enjoy being around people drunk.
I also moved it up because I was telling a few members in chat about it.
Always good reading your treads and am so happy for you in the new life you have found.

                      MWO Meetup??

I had so much fun traveling and hanging out with fellow sober vacationers at the bit AA convention in San Antonio this summer. I was really dreading vacation type travel prior to that, and hadn't done any. It was great to discover how much fun recreational travel can be sober, and especially in the company of other like minded folks. I don't think I would enjoy a Club Med vacation on my own, surrounded by drinkers. But I could definitely see doing a Club Med trip with a bunch of sober people.

The other nice thing about the S.A. trip and the people there was that it showed such a good life after years of sobriety. People are successful and traveling and having fun and truly LIVING the sober life. I felt I had a glimpse of what is possible in the future for vacation mode - not just serious day to day "work and stay sober" mode, if that makes any sense.

I always hear that Promises in Paradise is AWESOME. (late october every year in the US Virgin Islands)

That sounds like paradise to me! There are a lot of these type things. i saw this thread last week and Googled it. I saw one where it's a little guest house with 5 rooms available on the beach in the Dominican Republic. The guy who owns it decided to open it up for sober vacations, when he became sober many years ago. He also started English speaking (he is American) AA meetings in that area (these are held under a palm thatched gazebo-ey thing). Small and looks very peaceful - sometimes that's my kind of thing. Also cheap! :H Any of them sound good though!

I agree DG, we often don't realize or really believe we can have fun and hang out with fun people if we're not drinking. I'm reminded of the one meeting I went to (that is a little to far way at rush hour), and the ladies invited me to dinner - anyone is welcome, and the whole group always goes to dinner after the meeting. I had an absolute blast with these ladies, as much fun as I've ever had with any group of people - and 100% sober. So a meet up sometime does sound like fun - I'll have to roll this around in my head.
