Agreed. No on the birthday cake.
Gaia, this is probably completely unrelated. But your story reminds me of my friend whose husband is struggling with cancer. Many of her comments were about how SHE is affected by the situation, not about what HE is going through. She's had that tendency in the past, and I've just reached the conclusion it's all she can cope with. Due to whatever previous anxieties, she doesn't have any room in her system to accept that he can't be there for her right now. And yet for her, the tragedy is at least as much about her.
Now I know it's the beginning of a new month and all but I have a confession to make.... I just had to swing by Tesco's and get a custard doughnut on the way home.... Once my head has returned to London I might get to work on this sugar thing...
On the plus side, I wasn't going to go to this meeting today with a visiting American academic but talked myself into it. It was interesting, we got to talking and hit it off. Yay me!

I could use that! I know the artist (have some of his work) and left shortly after saying a brief hello. Then I wandered over to the river to hook up with the drumming circle and the hoopers. This kinda crazy acting homeless dude joined the group and eventually asked to use a drum (in his own way).

I have to admit he seemed to have more rhythm than me. :H I keep forgetting about my hoop. I'm going to put it by the door to remind myself to take it outside and do some hooping.
