Besides lemon and honey, can anyone think of something soothing to drink for a tickly cough and sore throat?

Arghh! Done it again. Was suppose to sign out..I am signing out now

Been very busy this wek but just a quick messgae directed to Sped

Hi Sped - I always thought that once I slipped i wouldnt be able to stop ( I am an alcoholic) so it came as a surprise to me when I had no desire to continue drinking the next day. I wasnt happy about drinking that night but I didnt beat myself up about it either. It's something i had to do but i cant really explain why. I woke up the next day just thinking "No".

I knew that if I drank again the next day that it would be over for me and I love my sobriety way too much. I dont want to relive the hangovers, the blackouts and the general obsession on drinking. So thats what made me not drink the next day.

And I feel GREAT for it!!!! A lovely thursday to you all! x
It's great when there has obviously been a deep shift in our thinking and we are on our way, RB. Bravo! :h

Great stuff LBH! You are a legend and a lady to be sure. :h
Lav, your attitude appear's to be superb too when it comes to YB. Rock on, and you call the shot's! :h
Ah Chilli, chin up friend. I can understand a little, the devastation that troubled finances can bring, but my attitude when i was in such a position as Ex Mr. Chill seems to be in turned to.....'G-bloke, you know what? Forget the worry and stress if the position is causing too much stress. Take your losses, have a break, and start ever so humbly again. What's the worst that can happen? Let go of the pressure and don't worry'. Easy for me to say from here, i know, and even easier for me to say when my mind is clear and no al to cloud the picture. Anyway, i'm waffling. Take care Chilli, and i hope your ex can see that no matter what his situation, it really is not, the end of his world. :h

Cyn, i read you were up at 2.00 a.m. posting from the desert. I dunno, that sounded kind of romantic! :h
Rusty! Where the hell are you today? Safe travel's friend. :h
Star, Re hobbies, and you mentioned ceramics. Mosaic making is a fantastic exercise. Cheap, easy. Collect a heap of broken old tiles from a tile place, get a board, some adhesive, whack a little mirror in the middle of board, then surround it with all sort's of cut up tiles, in various colour's and shapes. What a gift for ourselves and anyone else.

Oh there's just too much love here, i've run out of heart's!

            Best wishes everyone!

My holy lord, G., falling in love with a guitar player has never been so easy or so wise. I adore you. Dilly, we now have a crowntail betta, deep sapphire blue with a ruby red belly. Huge fins, very regal. In order to keep the universe from shifting, we named him ?Stewy?. Our old gray bird, Jordan, is so intrigued. We tried a television but she hated it. Sometimes there is nothing like a little blue fish to fix things up. Going off to Panama in early December. Love, Ladybird.

                Hey All!!

Lav, Chill, and LBH--sorry things are tough for you right now (on the man front). Great job on remaining AF. I liked your thinking LBH, although I think you're far from stupid, my friend

Dill--I haven't been on here for a few days myself due to work as well. It's gone from horrible to...what??? ummm....God AWFUL!!! I leave crying almost everyday now and just crawl in bed when I get home. I don't know how much longer I can keep this up....it's emotionally, mentally and now physically wiping me out. I was told this week basically I either start coming forth with information or risk losing my credentials due to not upholding my ethical responsibilities as a teacher and counselor. So, I'm now in the process of writing up my report to take over to my supervisor. All this in the midst of a horrible Social Service nightmare with a kid that needs to be removed from the home and SS and law enforcement seriously are going to wait for this kid to end up dead before they do anything!!! UGH!!! I came SOOOOO close to drinking both last night and tonight!!! I also realized I didn't have my supplements, I ran out...I have them now though!!! I hope your days start getting better....and shorter!!! That's one thing no one has to worry about...me coming in early!!!:H

RB--You sound like you are doing much better!! Back to your positive you!! Awesome!!!

I'll try to check in tomorrow at work!! I'm leaving work early (HOPEFULLY) to head into the cities for the weekend with my son!! We are going to the game on Sunday...hopefully Brett is still able to walk and doesn't have to be wheeled into the game!!:H
Hello to everyone I missed....I'm thinking of you all...just exhausted again tonight!! I'll do my best to get away tomorrow morning and hop back on!!! Good Night!

Kudos to you, LBH, Lav, SD, everyone who is holding so steady. Maybe we all need a regal blue fish to help us through November - mine is not going so well at the moment. Thinking of everyone, must return to work now, hoping that I will not have to do an entire unpack by myself tomorrow...cross fingers...

                    November Nuturing - Week 1

It's Friday and I don't even care. My son did not pass his test, and I am truly tired of the whole scenario. Just tired. So, I guess I am being a downer, but he needs to get on with his life. On his own dime.

So, there it is. It is interesting that a few of us are having rough days. That is life. It is something we have to get through, not out of. Again, I am thinking of all the areas of my life, and not all are bad.

I have been reading through the threads again, as I was up at 4:00 a.m. This is really a great site, so inspirational, so many kind people. Everyone here included.

                    Have a good day, AF.

                      Hi everyone

So sorry that so many of you are having a rough time at the moment. This too shall pass and Al would only make it worse. Sending you all lots of cyber hugs.

                        November Nuturing - Week 1

                        Good Morning Everyone-

I am in the western suburbs of Chicago today. Can't wait to get home.

Star-I am SO sorry your son didn't pass his test. Good for you for making that decision on having him pay his own way....I know you agonized about it for a good long while.:l

Ladybird, Lav, Dill, and SD:l:l I don't know what to say to any of you other than I feel so badly for what you're going through with men, school, etc. I am proud of you remaining AF....but oh so tempting to jump into a bottle of scotch.

SD-did you see the Saturday Night Live spoof on Favre...he is now advertising Wrangler's Open Fly Jeans?:H Hilarious!

RB-great that you're staying strong. You sound wonderful!

Sped-how long are you in Indiana? I feel sorry for you as Indiana is not one of my favorite states.

Chill-good thing you have a job now that your ex's financial situation is so perilous. I'm sure his drinking is only making matters worse.

G-I am with LBH. I think I'm in love:h. You are in a very lovey dovey mood today, G. Could you please replace your avatar with a picture of you in your Australian swimsuit....the skimpy one with the kangaroos on it? I love the idea of mosaic-making. You are so talented. Did I mention that I am single and have no kids? ha ha!

Sending a cheery hello to Papmom, Chef Paguy, Cyn, Rustop, Sooty and anyone I may have missed who drops by, have a wonderful AF Friday. TGIF!

                              November Nuturing - Week 1

                              Morning all,
Sorry so many of us are having stressful times. I am getting ready to return to NM. My plan, though it does seem crazy, is to spend about 75% of my time in Indiana. I will go back to NM periodically to work as a substitute teacher, pay the bills, spend time with my kitties, check on my house. My husband is a brilliant mathematician but when it comes to anything else he doesn't have a clue. I have been gone for over 3 weeks. Not very optimistic about our reunion. Will be happy to see friends though.

Rusty, why don't you like Indiana? Too many cornfields?? Too many churches?

Star, what test did your son not pass? It's hard to make your kid pay his own way when he has no $. I empathize. I always say I would do anything for my kids but sometimes that's exactly what they don't need.

LBH, hope to see you soon. We can finally get to the zoo. Can't wait to meet Stewy. What a good idea for a companion for Jordan. And I love JSHS (just stay...).

Mr. G, good suggestion...mosaics. I have a friend who found an old typewriter table at a garage sale and covered the top of it with broken tile pieces. Like doing a puzzle. Chicago has some beautiful mosaic murals with lots of mirror shards.
Think you and Rusty should meet. (insert throbbing heart).

Dill, poor thing, you have my sympathy. My SLP friend in NM is just about dying under her caseload, with no relief in sight. Hang in there. Thanksgiving break's not too far away. You too SD, education is a tough field to be in these days.

Lav, what did Mr. Lav have to say? Does he ever tell you what he wants to happen?

Cyn, I am loving living in a cooler climate. And after living in a desert climate for so long, I always appreciate any precipitation in any form. Any offers on your house yet?

Had a great day yesterday. Drove down to Indianapolis and spent the day wandering through the art museum and botanical gardens. A lucky find...the art museum cafe made a mean bowl of gumbo, perfect for a rainy afternoon.

Glad it's Friday for all you working folk.
Everyone seems very committed to maintaining their sobriety despite some trials and tribulations.

                                November Nuturing - Week 1

                                GM nurturing friends!

Shelley, Mr Lav (or YB yard boy) has made it clear that he chooses to remain in denial of his long term anxiety/depression problems. I am the cause of all evil on the planet & everything that is wrong in his head. IMHO he has made a complete transformation - he has now become his mother & I couldn't stand that bitch either :H:H
I need to work him out of my consciousness for my own sanity. He is & always has been very unhealthy emotionally. He can stay where he is - alone.

Looks like a lot of us are facing difficulties right now. Lets move forward together, arm in arm for strength - we'll get thru together

Hiding in the comfort of home is a smart idea I think. Staying in touch with MWO friends keeps us grounded. Comfort & strength in numbers!!!

Thinking of each & everyone of you today! Sharing my strength vibes (Lavanitude) with each & everyone of you
                                Have a great AF Friday!
