    November Nuturing - Week 2

H ey G-good to know Fred is alive and flippering!! Does your pond freeze over in the winter or do you use a de-icer?

chill-good for you for being able to see things clearly now! I hope you and McLibra will stay friends if that is what would be the natural thing as you seem to run in somewhat the same circle-he might be a great resource for you! But if not, that's OK too!

      November Nuturing - Week 2

      :yay::happy::nutso: TGIF!!!!!

I am FINALLY done with my work week! This has been a lonnngggg week. My client in Ohio is Canadian and she takes every opportunity to put down America and Americans every chance she gets. By the end of the last day I was there, my patience had run dry.

Ok, now on to the fun stuff.....

Mr. G-puhleaasse....where is the pic of you in the tight, black jeans?

Lav-I hope YB brings over big dog soon.

Star-good for you for not drinking in front of your daughter and SIL. I thought of you yesterday and how valiant you were being and what a good example you set for your daughter and how proud she is of you. I was embarrassed for this lovely young woman who was sitting next to me at a restaurant. It's one of my regular places, close to the airport and a place for me to get a quick, hot meal after traveling all week. This young woman was there with her alcoholic 72-year-old mother, Carol. Carol is in this restaurant every day and absolutely smashed by noon. It was her daughter's birthday and Carol was so drunk she was obnoxious. This poor woman had driven over 60 miles so her mom could take her out to lunch for her b-day and this young woman left the restaurant, exasperated that she had wasted her time with her continuously drunk mother. I never want my nieces or nephews to see me like that again.

Chill-good thing you made the decision about Libra AF. Maybe he will end up being just a good friend....wonderful to have as well. But this also means that you and I will be competing for G's affections.

Have a wonderful evening to everyone I have missed!

Evening gang, a very late log on for me as I'm just on my way to bed and wanted to call in and say hello first.

Dill I am very flattered that you are entering the parsnip soup - I do hope that people like it.

I was out for lunch yesterday with friends and had pumpkin and parsnip soup in the cafe - it was quite peppery but very nice. I shall look up a recipe for that!

OK its nearly 11 p.m. so I'm off with my book and hot chocolate. Lots to do tomorrow.

Have a great Friday everyone - see you on the morrow

I don?t think I have been here since the beginning of the week! Thank you John for the book recommendation, I found a digital copy at my public library and find it as you did to be an evocative mystery as I go about my Fall chores (I am only about a quarter of the way in), I was hooked quickly by the prologue?s heart stopping image. Thank you Cyn for asking about me and my new house fish, we are both very well and hope you are also. Speaking of fish, Pappy, I have had a backyard 300 gallon pond around 18 to 24 inches deep since 1997 and have never lost a fish to the cold (high desert at one mile altitude, can be in awful single digits Fahrenheit at night plus wind, one year it also snowed 18 inches in one storm). I lost almost everything last Thanksgiving, however, to raccoons, when the fish and frogs are hibernating they have no defense, a buffet. This year I placed large black PVC joints in the bottom so they have hidey holes and also put heavy wire over the top. I always run the pump (twenty-four seven) as otherwise the pond will freeze all the way over (it only needs a little open place), and watch it daily for evaporation (in the cold wind, it can go down fast). The fish don?t eat for months but when they wake up they are gorgeous, their fins get dashingly long. Better be off for now, I worked extra this week as I will be gone most of December, and I also bought a strange and beautiful piece of art for which I need to earn extra money, a fun thing while it is still on exhibit. As I grow older, I find like to stay home more and art changes everything when I live with it, a clean modest beautiful old house is my nurturing. Hi Dill, Lav, Chill, Raven (Raven!), Sooty, Rusty (you rest now), Rustop, Shelley, Rebirth, G., et. al. Love, Ladybird.
            may we be well

              I Can't Believe I'm A Senior

WOW! That came hard and fast.

All I can say is that my significantly healthy lifestyle is due to posting regularly on MWO, and particularly, this thread...where I feel safe and loved.:h

Lav-I hope you can get Max back!

Paguy-where are you? Check in, please!

Ladybird-where will you be in December?

Dill-I take your Daily Recovery Readings to heart.

Time to go to Pottery Barn where plan to spoil myself.

Have a wonderful AF Friday evening!

congrats Rusty for your new Senior status!! Mine snuck up on me a few weeks ago. I agree-MWO has been my lifeline. It's where I feel I belong, where I can pour my heart and soul out and not be ridiculed, where I can practice being unselfish and giving of myself. You are very loved here and I can't wait to see your 2000th post!!

                    November Nuturing - Week 2

                    Hey Folks:

Busy and stressful week here - I've been lurking around on the threads for the most part but haven't had much chance to post.

Papmon- OUCH! I can feel your pain - I don't think I've ever heard of an ingrown fingernail either. Hope you recover quickly.

Rusty - Cheers to the Seniors and welcome to the club!

Chill - Sounds like you are really benefiting from clear headed thinking. I know what you mean when you mentioned using AL to make a dating companion more interesting. In the end, it really doens't work, does it..

LBH - Glad you are enjoying The Last Child. I am now reading a book of a totally different genre, The Forgotten Garden. It is a mystery of a different sort, crossing continents (Australia and England) over the course of a century (1900 - 2005). This is the first book I checked out of the library - I actually got my first adult library card last weekend. This should save me $$ and limit my trips to Barnes and Noble.

Cyn - I haven't forgotten about your request for my Lentil Soup recipe. I will try to post it this weekend.

Work was stressful this week. After thinking that we would not have to proceed with our layoffs until January, we got the word that they will be next Wednesday - UGH! So, we have been in a scramble for the past 3 days trying to get things in order, etc. What a wonderful pre-Thanksgiving gift. This really sucks.

On top of that, I had to take my car in for it's annual inspection and it is costing me +$1000. Had to replace my tires as well as the 'rear control arms'. What the heck is a rear control arm? Rusty - you may know since you work in the auto industry.

G - You keep changing your avatar. What's up with that? There is now an air of mystery about you.... How intriguing!

Looking forward to the weekend. I think we are supposed to have decent weather. Swelling in foot continues to go down. Just finished my 4th week of PT and my Therapist is very pleased with my progress (and so am I)!!

Hope you all have a delightful weekend.... continue to nurture yourselves and take good care!

John-so good to hear from you! I'm glad to hear that your foot is progressing so well. You must be very excited with each goal reached!!
I'm so sorry to hear of your work woes tho. I hope you can find some peace during the layoff process. Take care of yourself. You can't control what is happening to your company or how people will react, but you can control your reactions and how you treat yourself. You know we'll be here to offer shoulders to lean on.

Decluttering is almost done-one more day should do it(Sunday). Then it's on to taking down the nursery border that the former owners put up over 15 years ago and possibly painting. Ooooh, that's a big step!!

Work tomorrow-hope there are no projects to do and the phones stat quiet. I need to set up my Ebay sellers account and work on my blog. I've got books to sell!!

Time to get the kidz fed and pottied one more time and then hopefully get some reading in. It will feel great to wake up tomorrow unhung and proud of the work I did today!

                      Nite nite all!

                        Hi ALL!
I can't even begin to tell you all how HAPPY I am it's FRIDAY!!! I came home from school today and collapsed for two hours in my bed!!! My stomach has been hurting so bad now...imagine that! The sleep helped!! I have my Orals on Thursday and then will be done with this "degree" on December 13th!!! I think that too should help relieve some stress!!

Paguy-I'm so sorry to hear you are having a stressful time!! Letting people go would be horribly emotionally draining....more so around the holidays...I feel for you!! Hang in there!!

Chill--just curious what made you realize it he wasn't quit right...and tell me to bug off if I'm getting to personal!! I think I'm like you though...I dated a guy for 18 months and had to drink every time to just be around the guy...D-U-L-L!!!!! I would hope like you, I'd now be able to see the signs earlier, now that AL doesn't cloud the 'ol judgement!:H

Rusty? Was it you(or CYN) that said at work at 5:30?? YIKES!!! I hope that means you are off by 1:00!!! LOL!!! I'm still hoping that someone figures out we should move school start time to 10:00AM!!! Glad your finger is feeling better too! Also...congrats on senior-ship!!!

Dill--I loved your story about your tea party!! It's the kids that makes us keep coming back huh??? It's all the other 'adult' crap that sucks!!!:H

Pap3--any advice on de-cluttering....keep in mind I have (and I'm TOTALLY serious) the MESSIEST kid IN THE WORLD!!! Looking at his room (from a distance...cuz you can't get in)...you'd think there were 5 kids living in there!!!! And I hate clutter...I just can't keep up with him!

Sooty--at the restaurant that my sonand I went to int he cities they had a pumpkin Creme Brule (???did I spell that right)...It sounded wonderful but I didn't try it..sweets hurt my stomach...I can have a taste but that's about it...12 bucks for a spoonful didn't seem in a teacher's budget!!:H
Well I better get back to homework and studying....ugh!! I'll pop back in tomorrow!! Have a good night...Lav, SPed, LBH, RB, CYN, G, rustop....and everyone else that stops by!!

Hey SD-ya just gotta get in there and dig dig dig. And be ruthless. But I can't even imagine how you would deal with a teen's room. I have a hard enough time dealing with my own stuff!!
My finger is 100% better-thanks everyone for asking. What a relief!!

Thanks for the pond advice LBH and Mr. G. I've got to get my pump cleaned out and running again. I now feel better about leaving them in all winter. I think.

I said I was getting to bed early. Ha!! Ok, this is it. goodnite!!

P3. Our winter's get cold here, but the fish pond doesn't freeze over or get icy.
John, my avatar changes are for no purpose other than my recently learned skill at being able to source a pic, and do it, except to say that this month is of course 'Movember', so i'm growing a mo, and featuring moustache bearing Aussie sporting and screen personalities which is more for a bit of a laugh for the Aussies who may recognise them.
                            Rusty, you are incorrigible!

Have a safe, sober and magical week everyone.

                              Good Morning Gang

                              Another wonderful unhung saturday!

Cyn - Decluttering our lives is decluttering our minds and is SO freeing. I was just reading about how we start off our lives accumulating necessities, then comforts, then treats, then luxuries and before we know it the "things" are actually causing us stress, like we need more space to put it, more help to look after it, more energy worrying about keeping it safe etc etc. Letting go of stuff is such great therapy and at the end of the day its all borrowed anyway cause we aint taking it with us...

Thank you for the great advice on my bills, its hard to put into practice here as this is not a regular 1st rate country. We dont do paperwork and they wouldnt know what a payment plan was, no one pays tax so nothing is declared. I can probably stall him until the end of the month so I have more time to earn some cash, its heartbreaking to see it all go before I get it but I guess it would be worse if i didnt have it.

Lav - Have you got the dog back yet?! Surely YB cant be that ridiculous in the circumstances?

Papmom - I so glad your finger's better, throbbing pain is such a drain on our whole bodies.

SD - Creme Brulee is my fav desert but "pumpkin" flavored doesnt sound too appetizing. Re ending it with McDreamy, to be honest I did find him rather dull. Because handsome eligible men are thin on the ground here I probably persevered even longer than necessary. I have learned to go by my gut intuiton and not my head and it has never failed me. When he asked me if i wanted to go out to dinner tonight I realized Id much rather be home with my dog, by the fire eating chocolate ALONE. If he was here Id be watching something I dont want to watch, staying up way too late and not really being me. The hard part comes tomorrow as I need to see him to tell him.
