Pride, what an excellent idea for a YB gift. Wouldn't it be more...well..."fitting" if we got him two???? Hope beigeville is a peaceful shade today.
AFM, thank you for asking after me. I'm busy contemplating and onion peeling. I am still learning that it's OK for life to ebb and flow. The mood can't always be fabulous, especially when I'm not trying to artificially alter it. I'm sure I will be sorted and back to normal soon. Keep bringing the funning wild life stories (for humans OR animals) as they help tremendously!
Raven.joy, it is great to have you back amongst us. I too would feel a bit nutty if I spent too much time away from my pals in recovery.
Peace, I just found out that an old friend from when I lived in FL is now working for Microsoft and moved to Seattle. Is that the sort of "Pac NW" area you are thinking of? I hope it all works out for you - whatever your plans!
I'm trudging the road of happy destiny today. Sober.

DG - your theatre looks gorgeous. I know what you mean about now being aware how few other people were drinking/drunk while we were glugging down as much as possible. I'm still surprised when I'm out somewhere late that everyone else is behaving perfectly normally, not reeling drunk as I would have once been.
Hope the onion peeling is going well.
Lav, AFM, Peace, BB, thanks for the thoughts about mum. At least she's being treated very well - the health service seems to go into overdrive when someone has cancer. As well as good service from hospitals and her GP, we have a network of nurses called Macmillan nurses who specialise in cancer care and phone her and visit her at home just to check that she's OK, and to see how my dad is coping too, and if she has a problem with any hospital admin or something like that they sort it out for her.
Pride - I also love seeing people here coping with the stuff that life throws at them and staying AF throughout their problems. It makes me know that I can do it too.
Greenie - serious question! Can you feel the needles? I've never had acupuncture. Oh, and has it helped?
Choppers, Raven, good to see you hanging out with the abbers.
Oh, I just remembered a sneaky thought that popped into my head today. It occurred to me that I've sorted out quite a few problems since I've been AF, some of which might have been an excuse to drink. And so if the problems are no longer there... maybe I could drink "normally" now because it wouldn't be fuelled by trying to drown things out. Nuts, nuts, nuts. As DG says, alcohol is waiting patiently out there doing push-ups.
Have a peaceful night everyone.

Love the alt. stuff you mom is doing. Wish those approaches were more accepted. Needles - depends entirely on the size, location and depth of the needle. Usually just a pin prick at insertion.sigpic

Good evening folks!
My big dog has still not been returned yet but.........
I had a great day. Spent several hours shopping & lunching with my daughter - that was nice. Then I made last minute plans to have EB & his parents here for dinner. Good day
I'm trying to not let the irritation take over (about the dog). This is another control tatic by YB - I should be used to it. Frankly, I'm tired of it!!! I think I may buy him a cage full of screaming bats & have them delivered to his office :H:H I can't think of a more deserving recipient :H:H
Wishing everyone a peaceful evening!

GF told me another GF fell and broke her arm. I asked how. She said "she said she only had one drink and fell getting take-out". I observed that the fact that she opened with how much she didn't have to drink spoke volumes. *sigh*sigpic

hey everyone. Still can't type well but finger feeling much better. Of course the nerve block still hasn't worn totally off yet so just hoping I don't have another sleepless nite.
Got a good amount of decluttering done but not out of the house. hopefully tomorrow. Office actually looks worse than when I started!!
Marshy-your mum is very lucky with the treatment and care she is getting. We don't get nearly that level over here I don't think but then again I have no experience with hospice.
BB-all the baking you've done this week sure sounded yummy!!
Lav-maybe the dog comes home tomorrow? fingers crossed.
DG-don't go to fast on that onion peeling-wouldn't want you to hurt yourself!! Hope you are OK.
Greenie, AFM, Pride our funny lady, Peace, IJM, Deter and everyone else who stopped by today-hey and have a good nite!!New Birthday: May 8, 2010

Hey to all the folks on the thread. Getting started late tonight. Hope you are all doing well. About to start day 27AF with my new buddy BB. I have a shrink appt tomorrow morning. I think he will be pretty happy with my progress. No big plans for the weekend (other than getting the assholes and their cage out of my bedroom).
Well, got to hit the bed with a new Robin Cook story. (an unsoliciated plug for the Amazon Kindle – it is awesome!) If you think that the average bottle of Bacardi is $20. I consumed 2.5 bottles a week. I ended up breaking even on the Kindle in less than 4 weeks! And I remember what I read the next morning. The reasons of being AF just keep coming in!
Take care and have pleasant dreams!

there is hospice in the states. my mom had it at the end of her life...very helpful and knowledgeable/helpful about all the stuff that nobody who is going through that with the person or the person want to deal with, and they give care at home. a really lovely and important service.
nite nite all!

DG, hugs to you sista'! Funks are no fun, but I am sure you will spring back to yourself before long. :l
I had a 12 hour shift today and it was fantastic. I think it is just my mood really. Nothing at work was different. I am starting to feel the Christmas spirit, and am thinking about pulling the outdoor lights and putting them up pretty soon. My neighbour across the way already has their tree up and lights on the window. LOL! Actually their tree was up last weekend!!! I defo will not be putting up the tree yet, but may start stringing up those outdoor lights!
Have a fantastic night all.
